“Count it all joy, my brothers, when you meet trials of various kinds, for you know that the testing of your faith produces steadfastness. And let steadfastness have its full effect, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing.”
James 1:2-4
A beautiful church against a perfect autumn sky. You might notice the palm trees and live oaks and determine this scene is not from our Appalachian foothills…and you would be correct!
A view across Charleston, SC from the roof top cupola at the hotel where we stayed a few days last week.
This Dahlia Avignon is different from any we’ve had this season.
You don’t normally think of a fungus as being pretty, but … you decide!
Look what we discovered in the pumpkin patch!
A Charleston restaurant is well known for their multilayer coconut cake!
Enjoy all the blooms while they last! Nandina is showing autumn but the flowers won’t give it up!
Our first Penhill Dark Monarch dahlia may be pushed to bloom as we are experiencing temps in the 30’s this weekend. We will see what happens!
Here we go round the Mulberry Bush. Mulberry’s always give us their version of yellow in the fall! What we typically see in our area we call a Paper Mulberry.
There’s still a lot of green around but change is in the air here this weekend. And standard time is back too!
Be sure to come back tomorrow for Monday Morning Blooms. (A little hint here).

I enjoyed the fungus! Ha! Ha!
Happy Sunday sear Pam.
We had not been to Charleston in several years, we had a wonderful trip!
So happy for you! 😊
Beautiful photos this morning, Pam. Hope you had a wonderful time in Charleston. It is such a lovely place to visit. We are seeing cooler temperatures and had a heavy frost last night. I am betting on your special dahlia to bloom. They like cooler weather. You might try to cover it if you have a freeze warning. Love the photo of the girls, especially with a bit of grin from Emma. Wishing you and your family a beautiful Sunday, dear friend.
We had frost two mornings while we were gone, it appeared my dahlia opened and then was nipped by the frost. We had a wonderful trip!
Love the picture of the girls! Just darling!
Great job photographing the iconic church in Charleston.

Thank you Jenna. I loved our little getaway!
The beginning opening of the dahlia made me think it was a lady slipper. Your princesses are so cute in their Fall outfits. I want to hug them. Charleston is a beautiful city. I think Butch gave you a really special birthday, the city and the cake! The fungi is pretty, another sweet gift from our Lord and Savior. Have a blessed Sunday sweet Pam.
Thank you Alice. The birthday get away was perfect. Wishing you a blessed week my friend!
I recognized the church immediately and had to remind myself that envy is not a good trait. As always, I loved your Southern Sunday post. Your pictures always inspire me to do more photo taking so am doubly eager for my hand to heal so I can do that before all the signs of fall become transition to winter.
Thank you dear Libby! Hopefully, your hand will heal soon! Blessings~
I’d love to have a slice of that coconut cake! The girls are getting cuter and cuter and are very different in their looks. Reminds me of my girls.
Yes, they are very different! Thank you Linda!
Happy Sunday Pam, What wonderful photos you shared. As soon as I saw the Palms and Oaks, I immediately thought of Charleston and we’ve only been there once. I would love to go back again and spend more time there. Love your granddaughter’s~they are so precious.
Here in Colorado, we’ve had double the amount of snow we usually have in October. We’ve had sunshine though and the snow is melting. I love Autumn and am always sad to see it go; winter is getting harder and harder as we get older. Have a wonderful, blessed day!
Noreen
Thank you for your sweet visit Noreen. I can only imagine winters in Colorado. Hopefully, you can return to Charleston!

Charleston, the Holy City, because of the many church spires. I love attending services at St. Michael’s, so much history there. You sure found the two prettiest pumpkins in the pumpkin patch!!
