βNow the birth of Jesus Christ took place in this way. When his mother Mary had been betrothed to Joseph, before they came together she was found to be with child from the Holy Spirit. And her husband Joseph, being a just man and unwilling to put her to shame, resolved to divorce her quietly. But as he considered these things, behold, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream, saying, “Joseph, son of David, do not fear to take Mary as your wife, for that which is conceived in her is from the Holy Spirit. She will bear a son, and you shall call his name Jesus, for he will save his people from their sins.” All this took place to fulfill what the Lord had spoken by the prophet: “Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a son, and they shall call his name Immanuel” (which means, God with us). When Joseph woke from sleep, he did as the angel of the Lord commanded him: he took his wife, but knew her not until she had given birth to a son. And he called his name Jesus.β

Churches are often featured as our first Sunday pic and today is no exception. We wanted to feature a “local church!”
No, this did not happen last week but it did occur in a December past. Our weather forecast for Christmas calls for 65 degrees so we are only dreaming of a white Christmas! It is officially winter so why not!
βWho can add to Christmas? The perfect motive is that God so loved the world. The perfect gift is that He gave His only Son. The only requirement is to believe in Him. The reward of faith is that you shall have everlasting life.β
-Corrie Ten Boom
It is believed that fruitcake originated in ancient Rome. There is no middle ground, you love it or want nothing to do with it!
We do not have a live Nativity but we do have a live porch holiday scene!
βHe came not as a flash of light or as an unapproachable conqueror, but as one whose first cries were heard by a peasant girl and a sleepy carpenter. God tapped humanity on its collective shoulder, βPardon me,β he said, and eternity interrupted time, divinity interrupted carnality, and heaven interrupted the earth in the form of a baby. Christianity was born in one big heavenly interruption.β

Butch, I would love to hear you sing that song. Merry Christmas to you and your sweet family.
Pam, I love fruitcake. What about it is not to love? Itβs cake. Itβs fruit and in my home it is soaked in bourbon. Wish I could serve you a slice with a good cuppa. But today we must go to church and worship our king whom we celebrate at Christmas. May your Christmas be filled with the very best that HE offers.
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Thank you Alice, you might hear that song on Wednesday. I love fruit cake and make my motherβs recipe each year. My sweet dad and I are the only ones in the family who eat it. I would love a slice of yours. Blessings on this day and every day my friendβ€οΈ

Dear Pam, a most beautiful post. The quote from Corrie Ten Boom is powerful. When one only stops to think of all that she endured. Her faith is what she held to.
Love the photo of your son, he sure looks like his mom. And, for fruitcake, we are lovers here. I had a difficult time finding the candied fruit this year. You will have an exciting Christmas this year with Miss Emma under the tree. Can’t wait to see photos.
Blessings to you and your beautiful family. And, a Merry Christmas to all! β€πβ€

A very merry and blessed Christmas to your entire family. Beautiful photos of the season! We read the same scripture this morning in church. How the heavenly Christmas message resounds through Butch’s sentiment….beautiful words..
The endearing and enduring gift you both give to us each Sabbath is treasured. Don’t need any
fruitcake, I already fit into that category, as in “what a” lol What would Christmas be without it? I know your Mom’s version must be special. Bless you for surrounding us with visions of the
occasion that gave us the Savior and eternal life… one cannot miss the message aglow with
your ornaments of the season. May the Lord pour His balm of blessings upon you and yours
and fill your home already bursting with His Love at Christmastide, dear Pam and Butch.
