“He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High will abide in the shadow of the Almighty. I will say to the Lord, “My refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust.””
Psalms 91:1-2
Hello dear friends! Welcome to a new year of Monday Morning Blooms with my blogging friends Shirley, Mary, and Lidy. It is always a pleasure to join them in providing a little flower therapy for our readers. While the garden is fast asleep, January is the month I dream and plan for spring and summer flowers. I really miss being able to walk outside and cut flowers from my garden, but for now it is the grocery store variety! Settle in with a steaming cup of coffee and a warm throw…
Once all the Christmas decorations are removed, it seems that our home is a little drab and bare. Do you feel that way? I love getting everything put away and the house cleaned. January is a great time to invite friends over to share comfort food, like a hearty bowl of chili or potato soup. I set a table with that in mind.
The links are provided at the bottom of this post for my talented friends!
Our common theme for this edition of Monday Morning Blooms is winter white. I had to really search after Christmas to find white flowers. Oh, to live near Trader Joe’s would be so wonderful!
Fortunately, I found hydrangeas, carnations, and spider mums! The hydrangeas appear slightly green in my photos, but they are a beautiful shade of cream. It was so simple (and I needed simple) to make a mound arrangement in this winter white vase. I began with the larger bloom hydrangeas and placed on the outside edges of the vase. The spider mums were placed in the center and I filled any holes with the carnations. How easy was that?!!
A soft furry throw was used as a foundation for the winter white table setting. I love the texture it provides. A sparkly fringed scarf is placed in the center of the table. Dried pussy willow branches add an interesting element to the cozy tablesetting.
American Atelier “baroque” dinner plates and bowls are the perfect winter white. Wood slice chargers add extra texture.
Crystal candle stands flank the centerpiece…
…and faux pearls add a bit of glam!
The lovely napkin rings are a sweet present from my friend Patti…they hold embroidered napkins!
“Winter is the time for comfort, for good food and warmth, for the touch of a friendly hand, and for a talk beside the fire: it is the time for home.”
-Edith Sitwell
The twig flatware is winter appropriate!
I love candlelight best in winter!

Pam, I love your combination of white blooms and the juxtaposition of textures and elements on your table…the tree slice chargers, sparkling crystal, fur throw and pretty pearls. The pussy willow branches look so striking in your tall vases flanking your centerpiece. Great minds tablescape alike with a cozy throw and twig flatware. ‘-) It’s an hour’s drive the closest Trader Joe’s for me and the flower-pickings were slim around here at my grocery stores… as if all the stores had gone on a flower diet after all the holiday blooming and bingeing! As always it’s a treat to join you at the table and for some flower therapy. Happy Monday ♥

Beautiful, Pam. I have always loved winter white. I love winter too. It would be just a treat to join you for warm conversation and a marvelous bowl of soup. Truly, I would enjoy soup 5 days a week, but hubby not so much.
We haven’t seen much winter weather here in the mountains – it is more like early spring or autumn. I guess it will arrive at some point.
Again, a beautiful table. Wishing you a lovely winter day.
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Thank you Sandra. I could eat soup several times a week, but my hubby wouldn’t be too excited! Happy week to you.

Pam, as always your table is perfection and each centerpiece that you create is the jewel of the table. I so love how you used the faux fur throw as a table cloth then juxtaposed it with that beautiful shimmery cloth. I must be on the lookout for that twig silverware. I always admire it when you or Mary use it in your beautiful tablescapes. I cannot imagine what a treat it is to share a meal or a wonderful bowl of wintery soup sitting at your table that is always beautifully adorned. You know just how to create a warm and cozy environment for your family and friends. So happy that you found flowers as they are beautiful!..So happy to be able to join MMB with you and the ladies today!! Have a fabulous week and Happy New Year Pam!

It adds such lovely texture to your table. Everything looks absolutely beautiful! How I would love to sit at this table and enjoy a visit and some delicious soup. Happy Monday, sweet friend!!!

What a beautiful combination! The florals make for a lovely centerpiece and I like how you used the wooden chargers and twig flatware. Potato soup sounds divine! What a lovely table to enjoy some comfort food and great friends/family!

An elegant, welcoming winter table Pam! Love the wood slice chargers against the fur & pearls. Your table is indeed ready for hot soup & conversation. I love the spider mums paired with the hydrangeas. I finally finished putting away Christmas yesterday as I was trying to organize it a bit better after adding a few new items from the after Christmas sales. I, too, am ready for simple for a few weeks although it does look a bit drab after all the colorful Christmas decorations! Have a great week. Clara ❤️
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Thank you Clara. It feels so good to put it all away, we have to organize every year. Have a wonderful week!
Roxanne Bernard says
Pam, I love the all white table and the way you used different textures. Stunning! My nearest Trader Joe’s is 45 minutes away too. It took two full days, but Christmas is put away and the house is clean and put back together. I treated myself afterwards to a hot bubble bath, relaxing spa music, and some decorating magazines. It was TOO relaxing…I fell sound asleep and awoke to cold water!!
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Roxanne, thank you. Too funny, but how nice to be so relaxed😃
Penny at Enjoying The Simple Things says
What a beautiful winter white table. It looks so warm and cozy! I would love having a good bowl of soup there!
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Thanks so much Penny. Is there anything better than a bowl of soup on a cold evening?

Your table design “speaks” to winter so beautifully!
Outside , it may be frigid and blustery, but one would surely be warm dining in such a well appointed space . I love all the details of your lovely winter tablescape – the throw , the scarf , the pearls , the candlelight , the twig flatware , the creamy whites and soft neutrals – all create a seasonal atmosphere.
I’d linger at this table with friends and family for hours . You’ve created another gorgeous tablescape- this may be my favorite of all time !
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Christine, I appreciate your sweet and encouraging comments. Lingering at the table is what I love the most. Happy week!

This is gorgeous, Pam. Simple. Elegant. Perfect. I know what you mean (usually) about the bare house after Christmas. I just want to get mine down and until the kitchen redo is finished, or mostly, and the pieces blocking the way to the basement to put things away are moved back into place, I’m sort of stuck. Every surface is covered with dishes (I’m seeing the downside of collecting so much china!) and more!
I was thinking of you yesterday. On CBS Sunday Morning they had a feature on competitive tablescaping and let me say I’ve never seen such hideous, overdone tables ever. Even on bad blogs. They were awful. And I thought how much I loved every one I’d ever seen you do. I would be nervous eating at any of the tables they had on that show, all themed but too over the top. You know how to do it so well. So many of my blog friends do and you’re right there. And I just had to tell you that!
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Jeanie, I m so sorry you are having to deal with the kitchen redo with Christmas to still to be put away.
I read something about the CBS show. The tables don’t seem practical and I try to consider that when tablescaping. Your sweet and encouraging comments are so appreciated. Thank you for sharing your thoughts with me! Have a wonderful week in spite of the mess.
marmeladegypsy says
The clip is probably online if you google CBS Sunday Morning Tablescaping. Not at all practical and to be honest, none that I saw were that pretty. They were TOO MUCH! In caps!
Pam @ Everyday Living says
I agree, I watched it. It was theatrical not practical.
Rita C. says
So warm and inviting, Pam. I also love candlelight best in winter. The overall neutral palette with the winter whites blooms is ethereal.

Such pristine simplicity and elegance after all the color of the holiday, proves relaxing and open
to concentrating on the food and conversation. Soup would hit the spot. However, you have so
deftly combined so many textures and elements that you have created a smooth palette in one
vision without interruption. If you had not said so, one would not guess that you had to create your arrangement from supermarket florals…. just love the spider mum “frills” bursting from
the classic container… elegant, indeed.

Thank you dear Mary. Both of your comments came through. I don’t know why sometimes that happens to you, possibly others. How I would enjoy a bowl of soup and conversation with you! Have a most wonderful week!

OH, this is so elegant! I just love it! I know what you mean about the house seeming so different after Christmas. Confession – our tree is still up! I am still enjoying sitting at night in the quiet watching the lights. We had a lot of sickness in our home around, on, and after Christmas, so we sort of felt “robbed” of a lot of it this year and decided to leave the tree up and the nativity scene out a bit longer. I am sad to know that we will more than likely take it down this week and pack it away for another year. I always wonder, as we do that, what life will be like when we unpack it all again, God willing. This is a very contemplative time of year for me – I guess you can tell! 🙂 God bless you and keep you in this new year!
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Cheryl, I always think the same thing, how will life be different next year at Christmas?
Thank you sweet friend for your encouraging visits!

Sandra @ Dinner at Eight says
Pam, although I wouldn’t normally say this about a table, yours is so cuddly. Full of textures and comfort and bounty, even though restrained in color. Maybe it’s because of the throw you used, or maybe just the thought of the chili! Anyway, a comforting table for the winter sure to come. Happy New Year!
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Thank you Sandra, your comment brought a smile to my face. Have a wonderful weekend.
