“Sing to God, sing praises to his name; lift up a song to him who rides through the deserts; his name is the Lord; exult before him! Father of the fatherless and protector of widows is God in his holy habitation.”
Psalms 68:4-5
Simple + Southern Sunday is “simpler” today than usual. Butch’s dad passed away suddenly this week. He would’ve been 94 on Groundhog Day. Like the beautiful scene above, last week was a week of reflections!
“yet you do not know what tomorrow will bring. What is your life? For you are a mist that appears for a little time and then vanishes.”
James 4:14

Dearest Butch and Pam, I am so sorry to read this. You are in my prayers. Losing a parent is so hard, no matter what the circumstances. But please find comfort in knowing you father is now up in Heaven, healthy and happy. There will always be a hole in your heart, but lean on your faith and all the beautiful memories you have of your time together. God bless.

We lost a dear friend a few weeks ago but he was received in Glory by his Lord and I think greeted by my folks. I am sorry for your loss. I appreciate the reminder of the verse that He cares for the fatherless and widows. How great is His care for His sheep and while it is a sorrow to lose our loved ones what a comfort to me to know if His love and that He understands our grief.
Yes Lorrie, He is our comforter. I am so sorry for the loss of a dear friend. Hugs ❤️

Dear Butch and Pam, I was saddened to hear about Mr. Richardson. He lived a good long life. I read his obituary and was struck by his life of service to his country, his family, and community. I smiled when I read he enjoyed gardening and it is true the apple does not fall far from the tree.
May the Lord fill all of you with a special strength and comfort that only He can give.
You are in our prayers. Mike and Bonnie
Thank you dear Bonnie and Mike! ❤️
Butch and Pam: I am so sorry to hear that you lost Butch’s father. Though you know it is inevitable and coming maybe sooner than later, you are never prepared for the loss. We lost our beloved aunt on Christmas Eve. She was like a mother to me for many years. I take care of both my 88 year old mom with advanced Parkinson’s and my hubby, who is diabetic, on an insulin pump and continuous glucose monitor and has had two heart attacks. I know both will pass away sooner than I want but for now we have each other. I know it brings me peace and comfort knowing my beloved aunt is with our Lord in Glory now. She’s been reunited with her husband, siblings, parents and grandparents. She got to celebrate Christmas with our savior this year and oh what a celebration that would have been!!! I hope knowing Butch’s father is in Heaven and reunited with his loved ones there and with our Lord brings you comfort. In Christ, Linda
Linda, thank you for your kind and comforting words. I am so sorry to read about your beloved aunt. I know she is rejoicing in heaven. I will be praying for your hubby’s and mom’s health. I will be praying for God’s strength as you are their caregiver. May you rest in His presence❤️
My deepest sympathy, dear friends…God bless you all.
Thank you dear Maristella ❤️
Love and prayers for your family. May God’s comfort and peace be with you in this difficult time.

It is so hard to lose a parent, but I know your hearts are full of love and pride when you reflect on the long full life he led, as a father, loving grandfather and his service to our country. I am glad you are taking time to relish in your memories and honoring his life. Many prayers for your blessed family Pam and Butch…

Oh, dear friends! I am SO sorry of the loss of your father/father-in-law. Sudden deaths are even harder to accept and absorb, it seems. Oh, may the God of all comfort hold both of you extra close as you walk this sad, difficult path! I am praying for you both and trusting Jesus to help you. Surely He IS a Father to the fatherless, and He is with you. “The eternal God is thy refuge, and underneath are the everlasting arms.” Deuteronomy 33:27
Thank you dear Cheryl for your words of comfort and for the wonderful scripture. Blessings
Dear friends Pam and Butch, today the news is tremendous. Losing such an important being in their lives is a very painful thing, but as a consolation I can say that he has lived many years and you have had the opportunity to enjoy it as well as he and you and your son and granddaughters.
The consolation? yes, the consolation is that today he will be with Jesus and he will have been able to reveal his face … For me it is the greatest desire when it is time for me to leave.
A huge hug with all my love
Dolores
Querido amigo, gracias por tus dulces palabras de consuelo y aliento. Vivió una vida larga, y fue mayormente saludable. Eres tan dulce al pensar en nosotros. Pam and Butch, I am so deeply sorry to hear of this loss. “Suddenly” is often much harder to grasp than after a long or lingering illness, though the grief is strong either way. But there’s more shock. Sending much love and wishes of peace and healing to you both.
Thank you dear Jeanie ❤️
