“A word fitly spoken is like apples of gold in a setting of silver.”
Proverbs 25:11
Happy Thursday dear friends. Many of you might say winter is your least favorite season. I actually love all four seasons that we experience in our Appalachian Foothills of NE Alabama. January is the perfect month to plan ahead and also look back. Since it wasn’t possible for me to join my Monday Morning Blooms’ friends Shirley, Mary, and Lidy this week (in case you missed their florals click their highlighted name), I thought it a great idea to look back over some of last year’s floral centerpieces. I have assembled many of my favorites all into this one post…flower therapy for a winter’s day. I have never claimed to be a floral designer nor have I ever taken a floral design class, but I sure enjoy the creative process. Let’s take a look at 18 floral centerpieces that take in all four seasons!

Oranges are my favorite winter fruit. Pink “sweet unique” and white “Eskimo” hybrid tea roses combine with halo oranges for a wintertime centerpiece placed in a soup tureen!
Winter rye grass provided the perfect background for St. Paddy’s Day in the country! Not one but two arrangements, both including the appropriate Bells of Ireland, were placed on the picnic table.
A little garden of spring bulbs…tulips, hyacinths, daffodils, and muscari provided a breath of spring in the dining room! Filling a rustic box with little pots of spring bulbs is a centerpiece that takes little effort, but makes a lovely display.
An old yellow pitcher handed down from my grandmother holds an arrangement of azaleas, snowball blooms, roses, alstroemeria, and hydrangea.
Wild dogwood branches were placed in a vase to sit behind the pitcher for an Easter afternoon in the country!
An old Clabber Girl Baking Powder can was used to hold a colorful mix of blue hydrangeas, yellow daisies, pink roses, red alstroemeria, and Queen Anne’s lace.
Large showy blooms of blue hydrangeas and white Annabelle’s are perfect in a red watering can for a 4th of July patriotic garden table!
Garden hydrangeas in pink, blue, and purple accent the April Cornell tablecloth. Hydrangeas are beautiful summer flowers that are often found on my tables like this “lost in reverie” table.
A beautiful Italian urn of summer flowers is placed on my garden table filled with hydrangeas in varying shades of blue and purple. The white flower are small branches of crape myrtle. This is one of my favorites!
An April Cornell zinnia bouquet tablecloth required a zinnia centerpiece. One of the easiest and no fuss centerpieces to make is to use bottles for your blooms and nestle them together in a crate, box, or on a tray!
Late Summer Flowers of dahlias, sunflowers, zinnias, limelights, and gomphrena were placed in this beautiful Italian piece that is part of my canister set! The hand embroidered tablecloth is a cherished memento from a trip to the Greek Isles.
The lingering days of summer find the limelight and vanilla-strawberry hydrangeas taking on softer shades. I cut these from my garden and placed in a pink toile pitcher!
Sunflowers and an autumn arrangement shared the table with roosters and a French made textile!
An autumn pitcher of gold blooms of celosia, native sunflowers, zinnias, and bi-color sunflowers sits on a garden bench next to a wooded area! A yellow shawl from a trip to Argentina, golden delicious apples, and a basket of mums complete the still life!
A blooming pumpkin looks like it might be hard to make, but there is an easy way to do it. Dahlias, zinnias, blush nandina, and sunshine ligustrum were all cut from my garden. I added gold and rust colored mums and alstroemeria from the grocery store.
Blue and white for autumn might seem odd, but it works for any season. Small branches of Japanese maple, crape myrtle, sumac, and beautyberry were added to a blue and white vase for a seasonal centerpiece!
An autumn dough bowl centerpiece of feathers, spider mums, and velvet pumpkins…
…the arrangement that didn’t pan out (you will have to read the original post highlighted above)!
A harvest table runner of autumn fruits, vegetables, and flowers may look difficult and involved, but is very simple to do!
Thank you for your visits and gracious comments. I hope you are inspired to make a centerpiece for your table. Be fearless, give it a try. There isn’t anything to lose, you can do as I have done many times…take it apart and start again. Wishing you a delightful weekend!

I’m glad you don’t make us choose! Although I will say, you led with one of my favorites — that pink, white and orange in the tureen — brilliant. And I’m rather wild about the moss bunnies, too. I find it hard to believe you’ve never taken a class but some people just “have it” — and you’re definitely one of them!

Pam, they are all beautiful representing all seasons. I, too, love the changing seasons. One of my all time favorites is the April Cornell table with the zinnias and watermelon set against the hydrangeas. Another magazine cover.

Dear Pam, they are all beautiful. But, I do have a few favorites. And they are: A little garden of spring bulbs, Sunflowers and an autumn arrangement, An autumn pitcher of gold and Blue and White for autumn. My friend, your amazing talents shine! Wishing you a lovely day and weekend ahead.❤

Pam, I love winter also! I guess we Southerners really don’t know true winter though. There is just something about gray days, cozy blankets, and savory stews…and not having to mow grass in 100 degree heat and humidity! I went back to read the story of the autumn arrangement. Wow, it was either a laugh or cry day! All of your arrangements are spectacular, God bless you with many talents. I love those moss bunnies!
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Thank you Roxanne, we seem to enjoy so many of the same things. Have a cozy Thursday❤️

I LOVE LOVE this post Pam, what a fabulous round up of floral arrangements! The very first one is actually one of my favorites, and I pinned it to paint some day. They are all so so pretty and worth enjoying again and again. Nothing is better than flower therapy, and it’s on my to do list today…my tulips are spent and they’re going to be replaced by colorful spray roses Publix had 3 for $12 yesterday, a good rainy day project!

Well … I don’t know where to start … There is so much beauty that I am like in a cloud of colors … hahahaha
Yes, my dear friend, I could not say which flower arrangement is best. All are wonderful and each in his style. What I do detect is that some sets have a childish style that has a simply adorable touch.
But your job is like that, adorable. You have as tools the Nature that gives you its most beautiful flowers and the gift that God has given you to know how to combine them well with the season of the year, the appropriate tablecloths (all precious) and above all you have love for what you do. This is very important.
I congratulate you because I have had a great time enjoying the beautiful things.
