“But you, O Lord, are a God merciful and gracious, slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love and faithfulness.”
Psalms 86:15
Hello sweet friends. Thank you for your emails and prayers since I have been fighting this sinus infection and bronchitis that seems to be going around. I am still not one hundred per cent, but hopefully I will be soon. Didn’t my Renaissance Man do a fabulous job filling in for me? He has a unique style of writing and is quite the talented man, hence my nickname for him.
It is the third Monday of the month which means it is time for an edition of Monday Morning Blooms. With all of the gray skies and rain, I think we can all use a little flower therapy.
I love blue and white and use it frequently. It is always classic and fresh whether on the table or dressing a home.
The links for my creative friends are at the bottom of this post.
Our common theme for today is the use of citrus fruit. I found blood oranges at the grocery store (love their color) and paired them with fresh lemons to grace the table.
With last week being Valentine’s, everything was pretty much red roses at the grocery store. Fortunately, I finally found a mix of flowers to blend with lemons and oranges.
An English vase holds white hydrangeas, mini carnations, white mums, alstroemeria, and seeded eucalyptus.
Rather than placing the citrus fruit within the arrangement, I filled an apothecary jar with lemons and blood oranges. I placed a Johnson Brothers “blue willow” platter underneath the vase placing a few oranges and lemons to surround. The princesses came for a visit on Saturday just after I had photographed the table. Ella Mae surveyed the dining room table and her first question was, “PJ why did you cut the orange?” Nothing escapes her big brown eyes!
Forsythia has been blooming everywhere and yes it is too early! I am apprehensive how spring will be impacted by our warm winter.
The lemon cake bites are amazing! They remind me of my beloved mom’s lemon supreme cake that she would make for my daddy. I packaged up most of them for him to enjoy with his morning coffee. I did keep a couple for a little pick-me-up with my afternoon cappuccino. I must confess these delicious bites were not baked in my kitchen!
I found a sparkling citrus juice at the grocery store that is really refreshing. More Vitamin-C is always a good idea and it complements the citrus fruit theme!
“I love fresh citrus and always keep lemons, limes, and oranges on hand; they come in handy for spritzing up quickly grilled meats, seafoods, and vegetables, especially when followed up by a quick drizzle of extra virgin olive oil.”
-Emeril Lagasse

Pam, Your vignette with your blue and white pieces and citrus is stunning! I adore the addition of your forsythia branches in your blue and white vessel and how you used the apothecary jar for the citrus. Such a pretty combination of blooms and you have me craving a lemon cake bite this morning! I’m worried too about what our unseasonably warm winter means for our early spring blooming shrubs and trees as many are beginning to bud. I’m afraid the viburnum will be frost nipped this early. I’m so glad you were feeling well enough to join us today! As always it’s a treat to join you for some flower therapy. Happy Monday ♥
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Thank you Mary. I am so hoping our cold weather forecast for later this week won’t nip our viburnum. Happy Tuesday♥️
Nancy says
I am up early and was so happy to see you doing Monday Morning Blooms!
The Blue and White with citrus is gorgeous! And love how you included the citrus in the Apothecary Jar!
Another Monday has come and I’m so happy you were in it to delight my eyes!
Happy Monday!

Love, love, love and more love!!….The blue and white are a perfect compliment for citrus. The flower arrangement adds such a beautiful soft touch to the table. Now if those lemon cake bites were at my house, it would be a chore to keep the hubby away from the prop! The forsythia here at the Berry Patch house are in bloom…I was so surprised to see them bloom. Now i would have to buy them at Trader Joe’s! Beautiful table as always Pam! Happy to be joining you today!! Have a wonderful day!

Thank you dear Shirley. Wishing you a most delightful week♥️
Sandra at Maison De Jardin says
Good morning, Pam. A lovely, lovely table. I am a lover of blue and white and I am especially fond of your vase which holds your pretty arrangement. The lemon cake bites look scrumptious and would be so nice with my coffee right now.
We are seeing signs of spring here in WV as well. Our neighbors huge forsythia, which is in perfect view from my kitchen window, has a tinge of yellow to it. We are expecting temps in the mid 50’s this week so I imagine it will pop soon.
Wishing you a lovely week and so glad you are feeling better. ❤
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Thank you dear Sandra. It is another rainy day here. Enjoy your week my friend ♥️

Beautiful, Pam! Those little lemon bites have been a sweet favorite of mine for a few years. I was selfish and didn’t share about finding them, for fear they’d be cleared off the shelves! So good!
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Thank you Rita. I just polished off my last two with a cup of coffee. Fortunately, they are not available locally.

So fresh and pretty Pam, the blue and white really compliments the beautiful fruit! I bet it smelled wonderful too~ I have a feeling the Ella Mae is going to grow into quite the decorator and tablescaper as she watches you create eye candy with your lovely things 🙂 The lemon bites look so good, did you get them from a bakery? Yes, way too early for forsythia, I pray we don’t have a hard freeze…
Thank you for brightening this gloomy Monday!

Pam, I am swooning over that candlestick, it is gorgeous! There is no such thing as too much blue and white in my little world. It is just the perfect accompaniment to your citrus colors. Strangely, I saw a lot of men in the grocery buying flowers the day AFTER Valentine’s! Did they forget? Were they in the doghouse? Were the they waiting for a sale? So many unanswered questions!
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Thank you Roxanne. That is so strange that men were buying flowers after Valentine’s. Probably in the dog house.
Alice Genzlinger says
i always enjoy your renaissance mans’ post. The two of you together are another of Gods perfect work. So glad to hear you are on the mend. The vitamin C in the fruit will be a great help in bringing you back to good health. Isn’t it awesome that we can pluck our medicine off of one of His trees?
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Thank you dear Alice. Yes, what a great thought that we can pick medicine off of the Creator’s trees!

So lovely Pam! I didn’t miss your large blue and white candlestick! It is gorgeous and so are your flowers. Love how you “cut” the orange. I love blood oranges and they remind me of our trip to Italy. I must look and see if our grocery store has any.
Your vignette is very eye catching and creative as usual. I pinned for sure. Forsythias are so cheerful and look fabulous in a blue and white vase. I would love a lemon cake about now with my coffee. I know your Daddy was pleased to have some.
Boy, MMM comes around often! Time is passing way too quickly. We are still in Huntsville and will go home tomorrow. Our time here has been very busy.
I am so sorry you have been sick. Hoping you will be 100% very soon.

Pam, What a gorgeous bouquet! The hydrangeas are magnificent! Glad you are feeling better. Butch did a great job! He has talent in making the words on the page come alive. Citrus is what I craved when sick; drank more orange juice in the past 3 weeks than I have in the past 3 years! Blood oranges are a favorite. Your citrus in the apothecary jar is so pretty. Your trio of arrangements is so refreshing. Love the forsythia but I too am concerned about spring blooms. Your blue and white pairs perfectly with the blooms & citrus. Have a wonderful day! Clara ♥️

Good Afternoon Pam,
I am sitting here at my computer desk admiring your lovely Blue and White Citrus themed centerpiece, and to think you have Forsythia blooms too!
Truly, truly stunning and the apothecary jar filled with citrus, what a fabulous idea and a tip for us all.
The view out my window is 6 inches of fresh snow on top of the 2 feet we already had…I am not certain we are cut out of the right cloth for 8 months of Winter!
So thankful that you are feeling better. I am so sorry you caught this nasty Wintertime bug.
Blessings to you sweet Pam,
Jemma
Pam @ Everyday Living says
You are a sweetheart Jemma. Our winter has been unseasonably warm. We need some cold weather, but not two feet of snow. I guess that is quite different from living in Texas. Blessings my sweet friend!

Pam, this is absolutely breathtaking! Every detail is just beautiful and has me swooning! It belongs in a magazine. I hope you are feeling better. Both of my parents had what you are describing, and it took them a few weeks to get back the their normal selves. It took my dad 2 rounds of antibiotics and a steroid. Take care of yourself, and get plenty of rest. Happy Tuesday, sweet friend!!!
