“He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High will abide in the shadow of the Almighty. I will say to the Lord, “My refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust.” For he will deliver you from the snare of the fowler and from the deadly pestilence. He will cover you with his pinions, and under his wings you will find refuge; his faithfulness is a shield and buckler.”
Psalms 91:1-4
Our Pride of Mobile is bursting forth as the early morning sun shines through the branches.
For many, the dogwood bloom is a reminder of the Cross of Christ. Likely because of the cross-like shape of the bloom and the fact that dogwoods are often blooming around Easter.
Wisteria has such a sweet fragrance but often too high in the tree branches to get close to. We have a favorite spot on an embankment that allows us to get up close and personal!
Take our word for it and go ahead and pretend you can smell it. The only danger is sticking your nose to a visiting bee!
We can always count on Daisy Fleabane to give us some pretty pasture flowers by early April!
A brief passing thundershower with some gusty wind took toll on the Lady Banks but more gorgeous blooms popped out to replace many that were lost!
An Easter Tiger Swallowtail wasted no time in finding the new blooms on the wild azaleas!
We mentioned last Sunday that the wild azaleas on the ridge really show up in 2 different shades, with some displaying a bit more pink. The pinker variety seems to bloom about 5-7 days behind their neighbor. Maybe it is our imagination on the timing of the blooms but…
…here are two different bushes growing side by side so note the color differences.
Look but don’t touch – unless you are an insect!
The pasture sports quite a few yellow flowers that we think are bulbous buttercups, sometimes called St. Anthony’s turnip. It forms tufts as one pic shows and the bulb or turnip is beginning to form. The bloom is pretty but this is a weed that is not very popular!
When the viburnum turns completely white, it is obvious why the name snowball was chosen!
While our snowball viburnums bloom at times all year, this is the only time they bloom at this level. No doubt this is their peak!
A bridal wreath spirea is a new addition and making a nice show!
We share our concerns for each of you during these tumultuous and constantly changing days. Be encouraged, trust in God’s sovereignty over things we can’t control or even begin to comprehend. We pray you stay well physically but also emotionally and spiritually.

Perfect scripture this morning, thank you Pam and Butch. Everything is bursting into bloom here too. I have bouquets of snowball virburnum and azaleas all over the house. And I spotted my first Louisiana Iris bloom, so looking forward to many of those. I spent the day happily playing in the dirt yesterday. Pajama church today…first my church here in Clemson, then my sister’s church in Charleston. Two of her ministers who have fully recovered from COVID19 will be preaching today, and I’m sure their message will be powerful. And glorious news, our Bishop is home after 9 days on a ventilator in ICU. Kelley was with them all at a church convention and somehow did not contract it. God IS watching over his flock and healing. Enjoy your Palm Sunday despite the way in which we will all participate and stay safe.

Thank you my friend. I am so thankful to hear of your bishop and Kelly’s ministers recovering from COVID19. I was going to wear my pajamas for church, but decided to dress up in sweats. Have a good week playing in the dirt!

Thank you Butch and Pam for the encouraging words, scripture, and beautiful pictures. I don’t know what I would do or how I would cope with this pandemic if I didn’t know that Jesus is the same yesterday today and forever! That He died for my sins and I have the assurance and trust that when I die I will go to heaven to live with Him forever. There is such joy and peace knowing that truth.
Have a lovely Palm Sunday!

Dear Pam, you all are in full bloom. Everything is gorgeous. I loved seeing your azaleas and The Pride of Mobile is such a glorious color. Pam, my mom had Bridal Wreath Spirea in her garden. She had a row of them which enclosed the main garden and it was a sight to behold. Here they bloom in May. Yours is lovely.
Wishing you and your lovely family a beautiful day and week ahead. Stay well, dear friend.❤

dear Pam, the bloom is huge! In these lands of mine, the flowers barely show their heads, but they don’t dare to come out because it is still cold.
Spectacular “snowballs”, I love that tree … These days it’s sunny, but the temperature is cold.
We are still locked in our houses without communicating with the family members, that is, ONLY … and we just have to be patient since they have decreed another 15 days more …! Well, without words … We will pray that we are at Easter.
With love
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Abrazos,
Pam

“trust in God’s sovereignty over things we cannot control or begin to comprehend”….. such deep wisdom and a compelling
message for these confusing times. Your beautiful flowers are a balm for tired spirits and bring a joy to us all. I once heard
that the spots of color at the tip of dogwood petals also related to the crucifixion as drops of His blood. He is ever
with us… we need only wait upon Him to discern His message. In the meantime, be patient and don’t climb any newly
wallpapered/painted walls. Bless you Pam and Butch for the many ways in which you bless us.

Oh, the beauty you have shared with us here! I agree with the commenter before me – I absolutely LOVE wisteria, too. Is anything on earth more beautiful?? That color is PERFECTION. I miss the wisteria we always saw growing so many places when we lived in SC. Your Spring season in AL reminds me so much of what we experienced in SC. Imagine how beautiful Heaven must be! May God bless you all and keep you safe and healthy continually.
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Cheryl, I also love wisteria. The beauty we share here will not compare to Heaven!
