“The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge; fools despise wisdom and instruction.”
Proverbs 1:7
Happy Thursday sweet friends! It has rained and stormed the entire week. Seems like we are living in the tropics. In spite of the rain, progress has been made on the garden shed. I am so excited, so please forgive me for sharing more photos. It has also been amazing that flowers are blooming, with little or no sunshine. Let’s see what has transpired since last week!
The cedar shake roof is three-fourths finished. The roofer will be back next week to finish. Cypress strips were added to the board and batten siding…
…and cedar posts for the porch. Yesterday the interior received a primer coat of paint on the walls and ceiling. The painters will be back today!
I had planned on waiting to show the chandelier once the shed was completed. However, I couldn’t wait! I do think this will be the last time I will refer to it as a shed (even though that is what it really is). From now on, I will call it a cottage. Thank you all for sending wonderful name suggestions. I am open for more ideas!!
Our morning and evening visitor(s) to the garden…they have multiplied exponentially!!
Zinnias are blooming! I do have a few zinnia stories to share on an upcoming post. Gardening always has its challenges and rewards!
Vanilla strawberry hydrangeas will soon turn to their beautiful creamy shade of white!
In an early spring post I shared that RM was building a raised bed behind the garden! He planted three different varieties of sunflowers…
…this is the first to bloom…
…Busy Bee which is a smaller sunflower! Have I mentioned that I love sunflowers?
Hopefully, next week, flooring will go down and heat/ac will be hooked up! Not that heat will be needed anytime soon!
Thank you so much for your visits and gracious comments. Wishing you all a safe and Happy 4th of July! I am praying for our beloved country!

Oh Pam, what a beauty she’ll be, ‘cottage’ is a much more accurate term rather than ‘shed’! What I wouldn’t give for AC during these days of sweltering heat and humidity! Love your chandy, your cottage is going to be dressed to the nines! I’ve been unable to keep the bunnies away from all zinnia seedlings that were coming up, despite the granular repellents and Liquid Fence applied. I’ll have to come up with another solution next year. Hope you’re feeling better soon. We had several ‘Code Orange’ air quality days last week with the Sarahan dust which made breathing a challenge for lots of folks. Happy Friday to you ♥
Mary, thank you so much. I have had zinnia issues this year also. I won’t have a crop like last year. I am most excited over the cottage. Wishing you a Happy Independence Day! ♥️🇺🇸💙
Thursday…I can’t keep up with what day of the week it is any more. 🙂
Happy Friday today 🤣
The cottage shed is so pretty!! I’m so excited for you! I love the sunflowers!
Thanks so much Michelle. Happy 4th of July weekend!
La petite Poupee Maison, is my choice, “Little Doll House”. It’s wonderful what you and your renaissance man Has done. I am dreaming of a visit and having tea under that gorgeous Chaney!
I love that name Alice. I would love for you join me for tea under the chandy! Happy 4th of July ♥️🇺🇸💙
Chandy! Auto correct drives me crazy.😛
Yes, it drives me crazy🤣
What a sweet cottage Pam. She needs a name. Love her! The roof is unique and different and i really like it. As always, your garden is beautiful. I don’t know how you manage to keep it all up. But so, so nice. Hugs and blessings to you dear Pam and Happy 4th. Cindy
Thanks so much Cindy! Happy Independence Day!
LOVE the Garden Cottage. What a great place to be not only to house and prep your garden pretties but a nice respite in a climate controlled sanctuary. Looking forward to the progress of your peaceful place, Peace Cottage, filled with the “Grace” of nature.
Thanks so much Shirley. Happy Independence Day!
Oh Pam, your cottage is really coming to life! That chandy is beyond fabulous, you must be giddy with excitement! I have heard the weather has been awful, so glad they were able to finish the structure and begin painting inside. It looks amazing across your garden behind the white table and chairs. Your zinnias look so pretty and your very own crop of sunflowers, swoon!! Can’t wait for more photos of both the cottage and your flowers!
Jenna
Thank you Jenna. The weather has been most u usual, with rain daily! Happy 4th to you and yours! ♥️🇺🇸💙
Love your beautiful country cottage Pam! We’re so excited to see the progress. The cedar shaker shingles and cypress strips add so much texture to enjoy. The chandelier is perfect! Your landscaping is gorgeous even though bunnies have invaded the south it seems! Your zinnias, hydrangeas and sunflowers are so colorful and pretty. A bouquet would be lovely underneath your lovely chandelier. Happy 4th! Clara♥️🇺🇸
Thank you Clara. I hope to place many bouquets under the chandelier. Happy 4th ♥️🇺🇸💙
I was so hoping to get an update on the cottage. I can’t even tell you how excited I am for you and then to see that amazing chandelier. Wow! You have placed the cottage perfectly in your garden. The Garden Cottage sounds beautiful. Your zinnias look beautiful. I bet those friendly rabbits are having lunch near the zinnia garden. The complex problem of loving our animals and them chewing heads off our flowers!! The sunflowers almost takes my breath away. Still waiting to see the red one. I think it is safe to say you need to share as much as you want. I am waiting in anticipation of each detail and I believe your other readers are also.
Thanks so much Dianne. I hope not to bore readers with my cottage. Wishing you a Happy Independence Day ♥️🇺🇸💙
LOVE EVERYTHING❣ This is so much fun, thank you Pam…
Thank you Sue and have a wonderful 4th of July!
Oh Pam, this cottage is so exciting! The shake shingle roof is perfect, and I’m swooning over the chandelier. Those blue French doors are so very striking. I just can’t wait to see it all finished. I know you must be over the moon with excitement! I’m anxious for more information on Zinnias and look forward to your post. I planted some in various places, but I don’t think I planted enough. Some areas look healthier than others. For next year, I’m thinking of planting a large raised container of them using more seeds for the purpose of cuttings for floral arrangements. Sweet friend, I hope you have a most beautiful day! Happy Fourth of July to you and your family!
Thank you Shannon. I have had zinnia issues that I will share in an upcoming post. Wishing you and yours a Happy Independence Day my friend!
Well the “Cottage at “EveryDay” Farms” is looking quite like THE Place to be! I am so happy you showed us the Chandy… it’s going to be quite stunning in your Cottage!
You are going to add such sweet Cottage Charm inside and out!
And There will be some front porch sittin’ with the girls. Sipping sweet tea… don’t you think.
Happy Thursday!
Thank you Nancy. Yes, porch sittin’ and tea drinking will happen. Happy 4th of July weekend my friend ♥️🇺🇸💙
Same to you dear friend!
Pam, the cottage is going to be gorgeous. Oh, my the chandelier is such a beauty and I love the ceder shake roof. So here is another thought for a name. Chalet de Bonheur (Bliss Cottage).
Have a great day and a Happy 4th of July, dear friend.
Sandra, thank you and I love the name! Happy 4th of July my friend!
OH MY….I think I’m just as excited as you are about The Cottage!! Can’t wait to see it decorated! Love the chandelier. I have a white washed one hanging in my She Shed. Those sunflowers are beautiful, love sunflowers. My zinnias are just beginning to bloom. I have those rabbits for dinner everyday too! But the SQUIRRELS are driving me crazy!!! They break and dig soil out of urns. Have a BLESSED 4th of July!
Thank you Nancy. Squirrels, rabbits, and armadillos are driving us crazy. Wishing you a blessed 4th of July!
Your cottage is shaping up to be an amazing place to “sit a spell” and admire the beautiful surroundings. I love everything about your garden. So many of your favorites are mine as well
Thank you Cindie. Happy 4th of July!
Your cottage is so charming! My zinnias are only about 5 inches tall so far! I am envious.
Thanks Penny. Happy 4th Weekend!
The new shed/cottage looks beautiful, Pam! I’ll have to think of a name but the rabbits made me think of Rabbit Warren. Oh! What about Hazelhurst?? Hazel was the main character in a book about rabbits ~ Watership Down. Have you read it?
Our really fractured country certainly needs our prayers…
Anyway, happy 4th to you and your hubby,
Hugs,
Barb 🙂
Thank you sweet Barb. I haven’t read the book, but I need to for sure. Happy 4th to your and yours!
Just delighting in the progress being made on your cottage everlasting…The girls are going to feel like debutantes having tea
beneath that graceful chandelier… Just love the shake roof… All built upon and with love. You just may have to arrange guided tours of that glorious garden once the RM plan is complete…it is worthy of the finest. Wishing you and yours a
peaceful and joyous Fourth celebration…
Thank you Mary. Happy 4th of July Weekend my friend!
Love your cottage. Such a lovely addition to your yard. Love the gorgeous flowers you have blooming. Summer rain is wonderful.
Thanks so much Linda! Happy 4th!
Pam, I am so excited for you and the cottage that you will enjoy with your granddaughters. I have enjoyed your blog and thought I would share some names of cottages that I have used. I am married to an Englishman for some 42 years now and adore the Cotswolds in England. We visited Chipping Norton and Chipping Camden some years ago and found a thatched cottage named September Cottage. It was perfect for us as I met my husband in September, our first date was on my birthday in September and we are presently living in a home that we first saw in September. Thus our home is called September Cottage. In our previous home my husband built me a quaint potting shed made out of 6 inch wide tree branches that were cemented together to form the walls. We had an antique wheelbarrow that sat outside and called it Wheelbarrow Cottage. Sweet memories. Enjoy your new happy place.
Lynn, what a pleasure to read your delightful comments. I love the name of your home…September Cottage. The quaint potting shed sounds beautiful. Do you have any photos? I have been to England three or four times, but not the Cotswolds, but it is on my list. Happy 4th of July Weekend!
Oh I’m just loving your sunflowers, Pam! We tried planting them 2x last year, but the rabbits or turkeys or something snipped them right off and we finally gave up.
sigh
I’ll continue to be inspired by my visits with you … your floral vistas are always such a treat!
Happy 4th, friend …
Thank you Linda. Deer enjoy a buffet of sunflowers and garden greens. Happy 4th to you, my friend!
My suggestion Pam is simply the “Garden Cottage” 😀
Love that chandelier!
Bless you,
Jennifer
Thank you, sometimes simple is best! Blessings~
Oh my! Everything about your space is simply divine. I love how the ‘cottage shed’ is coming along. You’ll get a lot of enjoyment from that, no doubt about it. We’d love to build something similar here as well. The flowers in bloom are spectacular, too. Your landscaping is incredible. Those trees sheltering the home and the arrangement of it all – so very peaceful!
Thanks for sharing that cute rabbit as well. They are such a joy to watch! Sending love & well wishes to you and yours.
Thank you Holly for visiting and for your sweet comments. Have a lovely 4th of July weekend!
Once it gets a chandelier, it is no longer a shed! A cottage, perhaps or a garden house. Le Petit Jardin Maison. Whatever you call it, it will be charming. I love your bunnies, although I’m sure it is much easier to like them when you don’t have a garden for them to dine on!
Thank you Jeanie. Love the name you suggested. Bunnies are dining on clover in our yard, but when it stops blooming, I think they will want the garden salad bar!
Sunflower Cottage
For all the trials gardening has thrown at you, I’m sure your blessings far outweigh them. The cottage is beautiful! And I love the new sunflower variety. Happy 4th!
Thank you Rita. Happy Sunday!
Oh, my goodness! I love that you are now calling it a cottage. This is a house that we could actually live in! LOL! Seriously, we have looked at tiny homes that weren’t too much bigger! I love, love, LOVE it! SO adorable and homey and welcoming already. I can only what a dollhouse it will be after you get it all decorated!! The zinnias are so pretty, too. It was so much fun to visit with you today, sweet friend! You will soon be “moved in” and having the sweetest of tea parties with your precious little girls!
Thank you Cheryl. It will be for making lots of memories with my girls. Happy Sunday!
Your outdoor garden look wonderful Pam! Can’t wait to see more what’s happening with the garden cottage. 🙂 Happy Fourth!
Thanks so much Elizabeth! Happy Sunday!
Always a pleasure seeing your beauties! Adorable cottage! Hugs, dear Pam!
Thank you Maristella!
Your shed is indeed much more than the name implies. What a delightful addition to your garden, and I know many wonderful things will evolve from it.
Thanks so much Linda!
Cottage is perfect Pam! Obviously the bunnies love it too! 🙂 Hope you have just as much progress this week! Take care –
Thank you dearest Barbara! I hope to see lots of progress this week.
What a beautiful cottage. Love looking at your backyard. Know it’s a lot of work but such a pleasure to look at. Love the chandelier as well. Where did you find it? Been looking for something like that for my home. Your a Bible verses touch my heart. Thank you for sharing. Cherry
Thank you Cherry. The chandelier is from Quorum and I ordered it through my local lighting showroom.
Thank you Pam. Appreciate your response.
Heating and AC? Definitely not a shed! L
It gets so hot here, we would never be able to enjoy it without AC.
PAM!! What an amazing “shed” you’re building! Love the way you attend to every detail around your home, making everything beautiful as well as useful.
Thanks so much for joining the Grace at Home party at Imparting Grace. I’m featuring you this week!
Thanks so much Richella. I appreciate the feature.
Hi Pam – Your cottage is going to be such a wonderful space – the perfect addition to your beautiful yard. It should have a special name that reflects the loveliness of your gardens. Looking forward to seeing its completion. All the best, Suzanne.
Thanks so much Suzanne. Have a lovely weekend!
With that beautiful chandelier, the shed has definitely gone from shed to a beautiful garden cottage. I know that when you have finished it that the end result will be charming and beautiful just as the way your home and gardens are. I can’t wait to see photos of you and your little ones making memories there.
Karen, I am excited to finish the cottage project. Have a wonderful week!
As one day so easily blends into another, I often don’t know what day of the week it is. I can’t wait to see what comes from your potting shed. It is taking shape very quickly.
Thank you Linda. There is a lot more work to do.
