“Turn away from evil and do good; seek peace and pursue it.”
Psalm 34:14
There is a mountain beyond these trees that is normally very visible. A wall of fog one morning seemed to close a thick grey curtain completely blocking the view!
Fog gives way to what the cotton fields of July thrive on…sunshine!
A simple tablescape? Sometimes less is more! A Rose of Sharon backdrop is all you need.
One of many northeast Alabama mountain waterfalls. Refreshing!
When the new batteries arrive and the jeep finally runs again the current high level of interest in it will probably wane!
Emma K gets signals from her catcher as she prepares to throw the next pitch!
Pam felt like someone was spying on her while she was strolling through the garden. Just her imagination!
Crepe myrtles speak the language of summer here in the south. Again (we’ve mentioned this a few times) they were a little slow to bloom but when it happened it was an explosion.
Japanese beetles love the crepe myrtles and we have seen a few. Some people have been covered up with them this season. We are reluctant to spray these trees because bees of every kind flock to the blooms. The buzzing is a steady hum that can be heard from several yards away.
A beautiful church up the road from our house…ok…just kidding! This is our throwback for the week. We loved walking through this village and spent several hours along its paths. Visby, Sweden!
Summer rains have provided well for our pastures keeping things quite green for mid July. However hot and dry moved in this past week! The dog days of summer are arriving!
Many of you have viewed the comet but we have not observed it. We are not sure that it is high enough above the horizon for us to see either early morning or after dark. This northwest view includes the Appalachian foothills and might block our sight! But then again, it doesn’t get much better than an awesome sunset!
”Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever”.

Pam, I am up early this am, and enjoying your post. The crepe myrtles are beautiful. Ours bloom later, usually August. I love the simplicity of the picnic table. The photos of the girls are lovely, and so sweet. I know that you are enjoying them. Have a wonderful day, dear friend.
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Good morning my friend. Thank you and wishing you a beauty-filled day!
Nancy says
Good Morning dear Pam. And what a lovely quiet morning it is. I am waiting for the coffee to be done as it fills the house with it’s great aroma.
I am enjoying your crepe myrtles… they are such a beautiful sight in your gardens. Do they have a scent? I remember seeing them in Texas but can not remember a scent.
The girls are getting so big. I enjoy their smiles that you capture when they are having fun at your place! And is that Butch spying on you with his new little toy.
Beautiful sunsets and sunrises! I enjoy them so.
Happy Sunday! I think I am baking Zucchini Bread today.
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Good morning my friend. Crape or crepe, whichever we prefer, myrtles have a slight scent. They do attract lots of bees.
Could you send over a slice of zucchini bread? It is one of my favorites. Happy Sunday!
Nancy says
I shall… Overnight Express! 🥰🤗

Sandra at Maison De Jardin says
Good morning, Pam. As always, a lovely and uplifting post. Those girls always make me smile. They are so sweet. Your garden is lovely and the Crepe Myrtle is so pretty. Another beauty of the south.
I know it must be quite hot there – we had 98 yesterday. My dad always said, “Your winter will be as cold as your summer was hot.” We may be in for a cold winter.
Have a wonderful day and stay cool. Stay well, sweet friend.❤
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Thank you Sandra. Yes, the heat and humidity are most uncomfortable. Stay in and stay cool sweet friend ♥️
Clara says
Good morning Pam and Butch! The girls are so cute. EK has the sweetest smile and EM is just the best big sister! We have new wildlife in our yard-a wild turkey! Thought of you when we saw it as it seems you have many at times. Don’t know where this guy came from but he likes our yard. The crape myrtles are gorgeous. We have Japanese beetles on our roses but not as bad as last year. We can’t catch a break this year it seems because of nature. The only blooms are marigolds, no cut flowers. I do miss having a vase of fresh flowers. I have now used deer fencing as a possible defense and caught a snake! My husband had to take care of it. Lol The sunset shots are wonderful and wouldn’t it be lovely to have the waterfall cooling you off? Have a relaxing Sunday. Clara ♥️
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Good morning, Clara. I can’t believe you now have a turkey visiting you. The deer ate one of my new hydrangeas I had planted in the front landscape, it is so frustrating. I am glad you let your hubby handle the snake. Happy Sunday ♥️
Clara says
Oh I am so sorry to hear about the hydrangea! Can RM fix a removable circular cage around it with fencing? We had to do that with the limelight we planted this year after it was deer food. It’s working well so far. You could remove it for pictures that way. Stay cool friend ❣️ Clara
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Clara, it is so strange. We have two Fire and Ice hydrangeas planted together, so far the deer have eaten only one! Thanks for the idea, I shared it with RM!
Rita C. says
Oh, these hot days of summer! We are walking by 7am and dripping wet by the time we end. That fog photo reminds me of August…
The lookback photos have a certain sadness to them right now, don’t they? Knowing other countries won’t allow us in only amplifies the inability to travel safely.
Your crepe myrtle is gorgeous! Hopefully yours will withstand the beetle invasion. And I don’t blame Pam for not wanting the drone overhead!
Have a good week, you guys. Stay cool.
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Yes, we are sweltering in our heat. It is rather sad to know countries are closed to Americans. I wouldn’t want to fly right now, I never like the close quarters on an airplane, especially now. Wishing you and hubby a good week!
the Painted Apron says
The fog blocking out the mountain is amazing! The girls look adorable in their jeep going on “safari!” Your yard is forever filled with glorious blooms, and the photos are always amazing! I know you’re having fun with the drone, have a great week Pam and Butch!
Jenna
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Thank you Jenna. Butch has had the drone for more than a year, I just decided to share some of his shots on the blog. Have a beautiful Sunday!
Leslie Anne Tarabella says
Do you prune – trim-scalp -murder your crepe myrtles every year? I like the natural look and only take out the scraggly branches. Your’s look magnificent! Happy beautiful and strange summer days to you!
Pam @ Everyday Living says
We do not commit murder on the myrtles!! Only trim the pesky shoots that come up! Happy summer Sunday to you!
Roxanne Bernard says
Our crepe myrtles are buzzing too! And I can’t keep my hummingbird feeders full!! The bullfrogs and crickets are amazingly loud once night falls. Every night-this week I have gone out to watch for the International Space Station fly over. NASA has an excellent chart that tells where and when to look in the sky each night. It has always been right on time…which I find amazing! I wonder if the families of the astronauts watch their loved ones fly over? Astronomer hubby says after July 22 viewing for the comet will be better, over by the Big Dipper.
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Roxanne, hopefully we can see comet. Thank you John for the info. My hubby loves astronomy! Happy Sunday.
marmeladegypsy says
That crepe myrtle is a stunner. You are kind not to spray for the beetles. The bees will love you. It’s all so glorious. I know it must be terribly hot and humid there as it has been here and you always get it worse. I missed the comet. Up here we don’t hear a lot of news which I have to say is somewhat refreshing! So I knew one might come but had no idea of details. I’ll live! I’d rather see your beautiful garden!
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Jeanie, it is so hot here! It is definitely indoor weather. Thank you so much. Have a great week!
Carole @ From My Carolina Home says
Same here, the mountains have prevented us from seeing the comet, but we have hopes for the 21 or 22nd. Your flowers are so pretty.
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Thank you Carole, hopefully we will see the comet!
Shannon@Belle Bleu Interiors says
Good morning, Pam! The picture of the rose of Sharon and picnic table is absolutely beautiful! I love the picture of the sweet girls in the Jeep. Also, the photo of Miss Emma is absolutely precious! She has the prettiest blue eyes. I hope you have a beautiful Sunday, sweet friend!

Hi Shannon. Wishing you a beautiful week my friend!

Psalm 34:14 is a message I needed today. I am leaving FB for that very reason, to turn from evil, so thank you for that verse. I love, love your garden, I get to see plants that just do not grow here in North Central Washington. Have a wonderful day,
Pam @ Everyday Living says
God’s Word speaks to our souls. You should receive your book later this week. Cheryl, the author, will be mailing it to you!

Your sensibility and sensitivity to life around you is a balm to the spirits of those who follow you. You never miss the significant. Today’s photos are redolent of that thought… what we might have missed without them…. The princesses are so delightful and that one of the “pitcher” is a winner. Our crepe myrtle are finally bursting forth and well worth the anticipation.
Ours are guillotined in the Fall, yet graciously forgive us come Summer… Hoping the high temps do not portend an icy, frigid
Winter, but one cannot argue with Mother Nature’s plan. Have a peaceful and relaxing Sabbath under the Rose of Sharon
and enjoy the chilled lemonade…..Blessings…..
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Mary, thank you for your sweet encouragement. Chilled lemonade sounds divine! Have a lovely week!

Your Rose of Sharon and simple table makes for a very peaceful setting. Your crepe myrtles are amazing. The greatest beauty is in the sweet smiles of your princess and queen. I loved the beautiful church in Sweden. Your words and scripture always inspire…Your beautiful setting reminds me of this beatitude: “Blessed are the peacemakers for they shall be called the children of God. The peace of our Lord be with you and all of us as we travel these uncertain times.
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Thank you Dianne. May you and Bob feel His sweet peace! I have Jennifer on my prayer list.

Thank you Shelly. Have a wonderful week!

Sunsets are so lovely. The girls are so cute. I love those sandals. My daughter wore that same sandal. They are such a good brand.
That is a huge crape myrtle. Butch would not enjoy flying his drone over our house. Too many tall trees. You can barely see part of our house on Google Earth for the trees.
Love the church in Sweden. Wonder if we will ever be able to travel freely again.
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Thank you Bonnie. I hope we get to travel again, I haven’t made it to all the places I want to go! Have a good week!

Seeing that split in the clouds in the sunset photo made me think of the day Jesus will split through the clouds to come for us! What a day that will be! God bless you dear ones.
Pam @ Everyday Living says
“What a day that will be when my Jesus I shall see!”
dolores says
dear friend, your photos are wonderful and interesting. I can’t say which one I like the most because they all have their charm.
For charm, the girls. I am amazed at how Emma has grown, they are both so pretty.
The first photo of the mist is very beautiful and incredible that behind the “nothing” there are mountains …
Un gran abrazo

Lovely post Pam! Yes, sadly we are in the wrong hemisphere to see the comet.
