The local cows are often grazing on this hill at sunrise!
We were able to take a river walk yesterday while the temp was still pleasant. Nice to back off from all the rush and stroll along in no hurry. One of us struggles to relax and take it slow, but managed a little while!
The Lavender Perfection dahlia is rather “pink” but we don’t mind. It is good to enjoy a bloom that insects haven’t feasted on since that has been a real problem this season!
This hummingbird moth was very active and hard to catch still even for a second. A very interesting insect that Butch’s Grandmother Richardson always thought was a “queen” bumble bee when one would show up at her petunias! No kidding, she always had petunias planted inside borders composed of old tires painted white. Every summer!
These creatures range throughout North America but it is a rare treat to see one. Notice the transparent wings. And maybe they still like petunias!
Grandmother Richardson would name this one “Queen” Emma, and in this case she would be correct!
EM loves the garden but may have less time to hang out now that K-4 is about to begin!
Bottega in Birmingham is our favorite restaurant, but with COVID hanging around, we had not eaten there since February. An appointment near the restaurant last week gave us all the reason we needed to order and pickup curbside. This dish (pic from their Instagram) is exactly what Pam chose. Farm fresh direct to our table (after about a 2 hour drive). We missed the atmosphere and all things nice about sitting down inside Bottega, but the flavors were absolutely better than ever.
Dahlia Avignon was a bit later emerging than some of the other dahlias but it seems to be making up for lost time!
Throwback time with our son and daughter-in-love… Triple Creek Ranch, Montana, 2014!
Although it appeared that a fishing event was taking place on the river when we arrived, this area was quiet and peaceful.
Our city has done an excellent job with boardwalks, trails, and other features along the river. There were a few walking trails we had not realized existed because they are not visible from any place we would normally pass or drive by.
It was rare to catch the bridge without traffic. When several minutes pass without a vehicle you have to figure that a lot of folks are sleeping in on a Saturday morning. And, everyone who crossed to go fishing ventured over very early!
Is this loner searching for a mate or a meal? We were thinking breakfast!
This clematis is abundant along the river walk and many other places. Some plant suppliers sell varieties of clematis, including one called Sweet Autumn Clematis, and this is likely that species. Some states consider the vine invasive. There were a few “late in the season” honeysuckle blooms peeking through the sea of white.
Wishing all of you a delightful Sunday and a blessed week!

Enjoyed my Sunday morning βwalkβ with you Butch and Pam. From the first picture of the cows grazing on the hill, the heron waiting patiently for an unsuspecting fish to supply its breakfast, to the sweet grands that are growing up so fast, to the sweet autumn clematis that made its way out west to my home, to the two hour wait to eat your meal! Now thatβs patience!
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Good morning, Alice. Thank you for your faithful visits. Wishing you a blessed Sunday!

The dahlias are so beautiful. I have never seen a hummingbird moth. I cannot believe Ella Mae is going to K. Wow has time passed quickly and it seems that Emma was just an infant. Love the picture from 2014 with your son and DIL. A beautiful post that adds joy to my day.
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Thanks so much Dianne. Children grow so quickly. Wishing you a blessed Sunday my friend.

I always love seeing the bridges and walkways in your town, so beautiful! And that dahlia is gorgeous! The star of the show today, except for Queen Emma and Ella Mae of course, is the hummingbird moth, how incredibly delicate and fascinating! What a great photo capture! The first photo of cattle grazing in the sunrise is breathtaking, thank you Pam & Butch for the Sunday joy!

Good morning, Pam. Such a lovely post. I enjoyed your hummingbird moth, I saw one yesterday on the honeysuckle. They don’t stay around long. Your photos of the river are so peaceful, I know it must be a splendid place for a walk. Those precious girls are beautiful. I imagine Ella is excited for school. Emma will miss her.
Wishing you a beautiful day and week ahead. Stay well, dear friend.

Thank you Sandra. We do live in a beautiful spot in the Appalachian Foothills. I canβt believe EM is in kindergarten!

Pam, The hilltop sunrise is gorgeous. The boardwalk looks peaceful and inviting. You had to be fast to capture the wonderful pic of the hummingbird moth. It’s perfect! EK is so cute and does have a regal stance. EM will enjoy K4. The cafe takeout looks delicious. We have 2 family members trying to recover from Covid19 in Nashville and a friend exposed this past week at her job. Glad you remained vigilant and had take out. We’re doing take out on occasion too and eating in the truck. The dahlia is beautiful. Another wonderful Sunday of fine pictures. Thanks to you both! Enjoy your Sunday and week. Claraβ₯οΈ

Our God is great and His wondrous creation a gift to us all…and you capture its beauty and
intended essence so well…So glad to see our little redhead has been elevated to queendom,
although she always knew that was her place.. wink-wink. I wonder if Ella will enjoy school as
much as the time and lessons learned in the midst of your care… she will excel in Kindergarten,
no doubt. My first glimpse of a hummingbird moth and I am enchanted by its transparent web
of symmetry. Just love your world and that family portrait explains it all. A blessed Sabbath to
everyone.
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Our little redhead is a mess π I am emotional about EM going to K4. Have a lovely week, Mary!

First let me say your daughter-in-Love is GORGEOUS…Iβm sure on the inside and the outside. And the girls are growing so fast! K4 already?!? Your walkabout looks so peaceful. Iβve read about hummingbird moths but never seen one. White painted tires is an old fashioned Southern tradition, a pretty common sight during my childhood. I am so looking forward to a lovely meal inside a restaurant…the things we used to take for granted! Have a blessed week, Pam and Butch.
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Thank you Roxanne, I will tell Allison, she is a sweetheart. I canβt believe EM will be in K4. I will still be keeping the girls two days a week. I canβt wait to sit down in our favorite restaurant and eat! Blessings…

I love the verse from Psalm 143. Your first photo of a sunrise is a great example of God’s steadfast love and He gives that freely every morning.Beautiful capture.
The girls continue to grow and look so sweet and pretty.
Your flowers and pictures along the river capture beauty and I am glad you got to relax and stroll through at a leisurely pace.
Love your pic from Montana 2014. Alli is so gorgeous.
Your plate from Bottega looks fabulous. We got a take out from a great restaurant (The Rawls) for our anniversary. I wanted to go out for the first time in a restaurant but Mike was not comfortable with it. We were very pleased with great food. I love their fried oyster appetizers.I set the dining room table with china and crystal and it was a very pleasant evening.
I remember the first time I saw a hummingbird moth. I thought I was seeing things. They are interesting.
Lovely Sunday post. Thank you. Have a great week.
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Hello Bonnie, fried oysters sound so delicious. I have really missed dining out in Birmingham. None of Frank Stittβs restaurants are open for dining in, only curbside pickup. The veggie plate was amazing! We would love to return to the ranch in Montana one day. Have a lovely week!

The dahlias are beautiful! Great capture of the moth hummingbird. Queen Emma is a true ginger, through and through, and it’s hard to believe Miss Ella will be kindergarten, is that correct?? And who can’t relax? I was having a hard time figuring out who wrote this post. It appears that you both had a hand in it! Have a safe week, all of you!

Rita, Butch canβt relax. I absolutely have no trouble relaxing. Butch must be busy. K4 for EM. Have a wonderful week!

What a lovely walk with Butch and you! The girls are getting bigger! And someone is going to Kindergarten ?? Ella is going to have so much to tell you!
Iβm swooning over your dahlias… stunning they are!
Your boardwalk areas and bridges are spectacular. And if the fall clematis is everywhere… there must be a sweet fragrance in the air. Mine is about to bloom.
Thank you for another lovely post. Happy week to you my friends!

Thanks so much Nancy. I thought I replied, but realized I had not. We live in a pretty area, I just need to get out and enjoy it more often! Happy Tuesday!
