“The Lord is gracious and merciful, slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love. The Lord is good to all, and his mercy is over all that he has made.”
Psalm 145:8-9
Sometimes we are greeted by fog instead of the sun. Kinda makes you wish you could sleep in!
Not foggy on the Coosa River on this particular morning so why not try a little fishing! Thanks Appalachian Digital Media for a birds eye view.
A sign of September when the beautyberry is putting on the purple! Discovering a lot more beautyberry shrubs around the house this summer has caused us to realize there is so much right under our noses yet to be found.
Sunflowers in the happy patch are bowing down as if they know fall is near and their season is slipping away!
Sweet Emma Kennedy spent some time with PJ in the Sunshine Cottage last week while EM was in school!
The glads have really been a pleasant surprise this year. Last summer they did not fare well. Nice comeback!
Maybe you don’t consider pics of mushrooms all that exciting but we think they are very unusual to say the least. This group almost looks prehistoric. Like decaying bones even!
The more common mushrooms give a hint of why they have been called toadstools. An above normal amount of rain in August brought out more mushrooms than ever. Parts of our yard had dozens of various kinds.
The celosia almost looks like an ear of corn with the shucks pulled back on the end! Well, if you use a little imagination!
Is this an albino praying (or preying if you prefer) mantis? Can’t say we had ever seen one colored in this manner. Perhaps he or she is just old and gray, a Senior mantis!
Hoping to enjoy the zinnias for as long as possible. Most likely they will do well until first frost.
A butterfly, one summer day
Spoke to me as he fluttered my way
He asked me where the flowers were
And told me which he did prefer
I pointed where the Zinnias grew
He thanked me, and off he flew!
As I continued on my walk
I wondered, who taught him to talk!

Funny, we went to Venice in 2013 too! It was our 42th anniversary!
I love the poem about the butterfly and zinnias.
All your zinnia pics and the glad are pretty. The praying mantis is interesting.
Our beauty berries seem to be earlier this year. In the full sun they are so full and pretty. I see them on my walks.
EK looks so pretty. You want to know what she is thinking.
Have a great week.
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Thanks for your sweet visit, Bonnie. I sure hope we can travel again. Wishing you and Mike a wonderful Sunday!

Lovely post, Pam. This is the first photo of Emma where I can see a glimpse of Ella in her. It is her smile. I know she is enjoying having you all to herself. Your zinnias are so pretty. They are such a wonderful plant and it is nice to have them until frost.
Wishing you a Happy Labor Day weekend and a lovely week ahead.❤
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Sandra, there is a resemblance in the girls’ smiles. Their hair and eye coloring is so different. Happy Labor Day to you and Michael!

Good morning, Pam! Your Zinnias are always so pretty in the photographs you take! Miss Emma looks so happy to be in the Sunshine Cottage. I don’t know if you have heard of it, but there is an ap you can get for your phone by National Geographic called Seek. It identifies insects, plants, flowers, trees, etc. just by taking a photo with your phone. We use it all the time, and I believe it is free. Living close to a tree filled area we are always discovering insects we have never seen before. Enjoy your holiday, and have a most beautiful Sunday, sweet friend!
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Thank you Shannon. I wasn’t aware of the Seek app, but I will check it out. Butch uses Plant Snap and I know he would enjoy an app that identifies insects. Happy Labor Day, sweet friend!

I’m seeing more mushrooms too and I love them. So many different kinds. It reminds me of the “chimneys” in Peter Pan when the lost boys lived underground. In the photo of Emma, I see the strongest resemblance I’ve seen yet to Ella Mae. What a darling! And that sunflower/zinnia photo. Fabulous — took my breath away. Wishing you a fabulous day and week!
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Thank you Jeanie. Have a restful Labor Day and week!

Pam, I love the butterfly poem and your beautiful happy patch of flowers is still thriving. Emma Kennedy is so cute and we know she is loving the Sunshine Cottage and having you to herself occasionally. We enjoyed Venice many years ago and there’s so much more of the world we would like to see. At this point getting out of the county instead of the country is an event! Lol I imagine somewhere in the good ole USA will be our destination for the next year or so when we do start traveling. Those mushrooms do look like bones. You capture so many interesting things with your camera and we enjoy them so! Happy Labor day to you both. Fog or no fog, maybe you can sleep in tomorrow! Enjoy your day sweet friend. Clara♥️
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Clara, do you love Venice? I think it is so romantic. There are more places to visit, but I am content that we have been able to travel and see so much. I ride to the next county is a treat for sure these days. Happy Labor Day to you and hubby.♥️
Clara says
Yes, Venice is so romantic and the architecture is amazing! We have been blessed with many wonderful trips through the years. If we don’t get overseas anymore there are many driving trips throughout the USA we’ll enjoy in the future. It’s amazing how Covid19 has made us appreciate the little things we took for granted. Happy Labor Day sweet friend! ♥️ Clara
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Yes, I agree there is so much more to see in the USA. We would love to visit all the national parks, we have already made quite a few, but still more to see!

Winsome and pure of spirit Emma is a heart tugger.. Hugs to her and Ella. Another Sabbath walk through your inspiring photos and the glimpses of nature’s fare that we might have missed otherwise. The comforting words of Psalm 145 add to the serenity of the day. Hope all will
be spending a relaxing weekend resting from daily labor, except that special cookout. Cherish
one another.
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Mary, thank you. I hope that Butch will rest tomorrow, but knowing him, probably not. Wishing you a peaceful Labor Day!

Your photos are gorgeous! Lovely to have a Sunday walk in your garden.

Thanks so much Carole!

Happy Labor Day weekend! All of a sudden Emma has become a little girl and not a baby…starting to see her sister in that sweet face. The toadstools have been amazing lately, some are truly beautiful. I was just reading one of the few predators to hummingbirds is the preying mantis! We went from 100 degrees on Thursday to 64 this morning at outdoor church. It felt delicious!!
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Yes, Emma is so sweet and loving, but a ball of energy. Oh, 64 for church outdoors is perfect. Happy Labor Day, Roxanne!
Rita C. says
Oh my, I think EK has the same mouth as EM! That is a darling photo of her, and in the sunshine cottage, no less!
I jut read that praying mantis are typically green or brown, and they do change subtly after molting, not like a chameleon.
Beautiful flower photos. Love seeing the beautyberry.
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Your observations are correct. Have a wonderful Labor Dat!

Emma Kennedy is growing so fast and I just bet she enjoyed having PJ all to herself in Sunshine Cottage. You have lots of Summer to go but Monday we are suppose to be in the high 90’s followed by Tuesday’s high of 37 and low of 26. Welcome to Colorado. What you hear is me crying. Will pick everything in our small garden as all will be lost. This Spring we had a hard freeze in May that killed every blooming tree. No fruit, not one piece in our area. Now the freeze will cause all the leaves to fall off the trees and there will be no color this Fall. And it will kill some of the trees. The Bible says to look for signs and I saw crocus blooming in a garden!
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Alice, EK and I had the best time. She is so loving, but she is also energetic. I am so sorry about your weather, that is horrible. I will try to remember all of your weather trials when I am complaining about our humidity. Have a wonderful Labor Day!
Cheryl says
Oh, those zinnias! They are just so pretty to look at. And, little Emma Kennedy is a living doll. I am sure she utterly enjoyed all that one-on-one time with you! God bless all of you with a wonderful week!
