Easing Into Autumn

September 8, 2020~ Blog hop, Everyday Living, Faith

Happy Tuesday my friends. I am joining a group of table stylists for a fall tablescape blog hop hosted by Chloe from Celebrate and Decorate. Since it is not officially autumn until September 22, I am easing into autumn with a tablescape in the garden.

“Oh, taste and see that the Lord is good! Blessed is the man who takes refuge in him!”
‭‭Psalm‬ ‭34:8‬ ‭

As I have often said, autumn is my favorite season and the garden table is the perfect spot for an alfresco meal!

Checked placemats, pumpkin-colored napkins, copper flatware, dragonfly napkin rings, wicker chargers, and a plaid tablecloth add all the fall feels!

You will find the line-up for all the creative table stylists at the bottom of my post.

As the days get shorter, the light becomes more magical over our garden and pasture…there is just something about the autumn light!

In case you missed yesterday’s Monday Morning Blooms, the centerpiece was used in the Sunshine Cottage!

“No spring nor summer beauty hath such grace as I have seen in one autumnal face.”
-John Donne

The hand-painted dinnerware is Artesian Road” by Tracy Porter. It was introduced in 2003 and I first saw it in a Horchow catalog that same year. I was immediately smitten. Needless to say, I ordered a service for eight which includes dinner plate, salad plate, soup bowl, and mug. I also ordered several serving pieces including the oval bowl with the peacock handles that holds my floral arrangement. The dinnerware is a blend of European and Oriental motifs in bold and vibrant colors. Sculpted bamboo trim and sculptural peacocks bring out the exotic nature of the elegant ceramic pattern. It was discontinued in 2011, but can still be found on the internet.

Dahlias, zinnias, hydrangeas, and coleus were chosen to complement the peacock bowl!

Teal-colored iced tea stemware was found at Tuesday Morning years ago. I am so sad that our local Tuesday Morning recently closed.

Individual bud vases, each containing a dahlia, were placed on top of each plate stack.

You can see the Sunshine Cottage is very close to our garden table. Be sure to come back on Thursday as I reveal the interior.

Pam, your post is beautiful! I am in love with your peacock bowl. It is gorgeous and the dahlias and zinnias with hydranges and coleus look exquisite in it. I love homegrown flowers. They are charming and make me happy.
You mix patterns so well. The teal glasses are the perfect accent and the individual vases at each plate are each a work of art. Artesian Road by Tracey Porter is stunning.
The lovely quotes throughout are indeed lovely. Thank you for a delightful post.

Pam, Your MMB arrangement makes a beautiful centerpiece for your garden table. I love the mix of plaid with checks and your TP’s Artesian Road pieces. Your linens highlight and complement the colors in the dinnerware beautifully and I love the addition of the individual bud vases at each placesetting. I was sad to see our Tuesday Morning close too…sniff. I’m always happy to pull up a chair and join you at the table and ease into fall! Happy to be hopping with you today ♥

Pam, I am in love with this tablescape! You blended all those patterns together so well, then adding the pops of teal was brilliant!! Your talent is amazing. The light has definitely changed in the last two weeks. I always call sunrise on my pond the Magic Hour, and it is looking totally different now than in August.

Your tablecloth is so pretty and the wooden dragonfly napkin rings are lovely. The teal glasses coordinate perfectly with the wonderful color palette you chose. For the moment we still have our Tuesday Morning but it’s pretty spartan as are the other stores. Enjoy your day! Clara♥️

The vases as part of the place setting are stunning, as well as your peacock planter. All just seems to meld together into one perfectly relaxing gardenscape. It makes me long for the time when we had a little garden cafe here in town where ladies met for tea and sat for hours catching up on life. So very pretty!

The delicate beauty of the change of seasons can literally be felt and experienced when one just gets out and in it! Your garden gives so many “rooms” to go into to enjoy every bit of what I speak of. Your table china is so, so pretty! I love the colors, the design, and that mix of Asian and European flair is special. I love how you chose the glassware to pull out the blues in the centerpiece. Very, very nicely done! My brother and I grew up in a Christian home, bathed in love, calm, security, and contentment, under the care of the two finest parents anyone could have. Daddy was known as Pawpaw to his three grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

My heart is broken, he was the best Daddy a girl could have. I know he is present with the Lord and I rejoice in that promise, knowing too, that my Mother is also in the eternal presence of our Heavenly Father.

Welcome to Sunshine Cottage and the March edition Welcome to Sunshine Cottage and the March edition of Tea on Tuesdays. My inspiration for teatime is the beautiful linens from @april.cornell With the celebration of their 50th anniversary, many Heritage Prints from the archives have returned. Eden is one of the beautiful patterns that has returned. It is a soft purple paradise where butterflies float, roses bloom, and soft sage leaves levitate. As an April Cornell Brand Ambassador, I was gifted these gorgeous linens! I have been a collector of @april.cornell linens for many years…the floral patterns resonate with my love of English Country.

I am serving my favorite, Earl Gray tea, from an Eileen’s Reserve teapot. Teacups by Grace Teaware and vintage Rose Chintz salad plates by Johnson Brothers add more floral patterns to the mix. Japanese Magnolia blooms were cut from my garden and placed in a lilypad teapot!

Mary @ homeiswheretheboatis.net and I welcome Nancy @nance_endless_summer as our special guest! LINK in bio for the blog posts. Have a wonderful day!

Happy Monday! With March bringing the promise of s Happy Monday! With March bringing the promise of spring and looking forward to our garden awakening, I planted a blooming bulb garden in my Sunshine Cottage! The butcher block countertop under a window, was a perfect place for a mini garden. Muscari, hyacinths, tulips, and daffodils danced in the sunlight and filled the cottage with an amazing fragrance!

Happy Tuesday! Welcome to the Sunshine Cottage whe Happy Tuesday! Welcome to the Sunshine Cottage where it is warm and cozy on this cold February day. It is Tea on Tuesdays and I have set a tea table with the “Blue Roses” collection that was a collaboration between @victoriamagazine and @april.cornell The exclusive porcelain pattern and matching linens have been used many times and I still enjoy their blue and white beauty. Instead of fresh flowers, porcelain ones require no arranging. Sweet treats pair perfectly with a traditional English Breakfast tea. Happy first Monday of February! After so many cold Happy first Monday of February! After so many cold days, we are experiencing a tease of spring with a 73 degree day that is forecast. After the gray and cloudy days, I needed a dose of color and decided to set a colorful citrus themed brunch! Using a bird gold and pewter stand, I mixed a citrus medley of lemons, oranges, and limes with pink and white carnations as the centerpiece. The table is highlighted with blue and white dishware. Fresh squeezed orange juice, French-pressed coffee and sweet treats of lemon poppyseed muffins, lemon cake with lemon icing, and lemon pastries are perfect for a small brunch. A faux lemon topiary belonged to my beloved Mother and seemed a perfect addition to a citrus-themed table! You are invited to join me and my Monday Morning Blooms friends, Lidy @frenchgardenhouse Sarah @sjpa48 and Mary homeiswheretheboatsis.net by clicking the LINK in my bio!

Welcome to Sunshine Cottage where I have been fluf Welcome to Sunshine Cottage where I have been fluffing for Valentine’s Day! For many years my Sweetheart and I have celebrated February 14th at home where it is quiet, no reservations are required, and we always have a table by the window!

I love the traditional colors of red and pink! Frilly carnations fill a vintage Staffordshire, ‘Charlotte’ pitcher which rests on an antique Limoges plate with a velvet gold-crowned heart. The plate stack consists of a Royal Stafford ‘Asiatic pheasant’ dinner plate, American Atelier ‘Baroque’ luncheon/salad plate, Johnson Brothers, ‘Winchester’ salad plate, and a vintage pierced Bavarian rose plate! I am a huge fan of mixing colors, patterns, and textures for a collected look.

I have joined 17 table stylists for a Valentine’s Day Blog Hop. Click the LINK in my bio to see all of the Valentine inspiration!

Happy Tuesday! On this very cold winter’s day, I Happy Tuesday! On this very cold winter’s day, I am serving my favorite tea, Earl Grey, in the Sunshine Cottage where it is warm and cozy! The magic of dancing sunlight enhances the table that is dressed with a warm tartan plaid throw repurposed as a tablecloth! ‘Winter Fauna’ bird salad plates from Pottery Barn (many years ago and now discontinued) remind me of the birds I watch from my kitchen window during the winter season. The Grace Teaware set adds more blue and white to the Spode ‘Blue Room’ dinner plates. Sweet treats were placed on a stack of Bordallo Pinheiro plates! A darling Hummel ‘Icy Adventure’ depicts a scene of an outdoor frozen pond with a pair of sweet ice skaters, a rosy cheeked boy and girl who have fallen down on the ice.
