Our week in photos.
Happy Sunday!
“The Lord is near to the brokenhearted and saves the crushed in spirit.”
Psalm 34:18
The last hay crop of the season no doubt. With more rain than normal, it has been a decent summer for grass!
The buckthorn berries have turned a nice fall color. You would expect to see birds really going after these but we don’t notice them on this shrub that much. Maybe they are bitter and not desired by birds? I think we will read up on the subject and see if that is true or if possibly they will become popular with the birds in a few more weeks??
Sericea Lespedeza hangs around all summer, and while it can be a menace, by September the plant does give us some blooms to enjoy!
It is our understanding that the Princesses have moved up to Queen status per Ella Mae. The girls are making memories sitting with their PJ on an old glider that was their great grandmother’s (Pam’s Mom). Their Daddy and Pam spent a lot hours with her on this piece having sweet conversation. Now Queen Pam (EM said she could be one) is blessed to do the same!
In case you missed it, today is Grandparents Day. Our girls didn’t forget! It doesn’t get any better than this!!!
Our “kiss” kinda melted as it struggled to make it home on a hot, late summer day…but we got some real kisses making everything just perfect!
Another “bloomer” along open undisturbed areas this week is what we think is called boneset. Can some of our experts verify?
Our local farmers are amazing and we love to watch crops mature and head toward harvest. Things are progressing on schedule (hopefully)!
Ah shucks, is there really something there…
…it appears so! This ear won’t make it’s way to a table as boiled “corn on the cob” bathed in butter, but will likely become some type of food source for animals or people. Or, maybe converted so it winds up in somebody’s gas tank?? It would be interesting to know. A good question to ask our local corn growers!
Our throwback this week definitely brings fond memories to our minds as this was a very special time for us. Aspen in early October, 2017! It is no secret that we love John Denver’s music. We experienced a Rocky Mountain High for several days.
Longing for a return trip!
The last of the sunflowers as every single plant bowed their heads, all toward the east! Another sign that this summer is coming to a close. We removed them from this flower bed the next day. I discovered that if they are gathered, placed in a pile, and passed over with the bush hog a few times that it creates a buffet for song birds, turkeys, and plenty of other creatures!
Wishing, hoping, and praying that your Sunday is a good one!

What a sweet Grandparents Day card! The picture of Pam and the girls in the glider on the porch is precious. All the pictures of wild flowers and berries are interesting. Thanks for sharing your everyday living with us.
Pictures are sweet memories and I am glad you can remember your special times in Colorado.

Thank you Bonnie. Wishing you and Mike a lovely Sunday!

Good morning, Pam and Butch. Such wonderful photos. Of course, my favorite is of Pam and those precious girls. And, your wonderful Grandparents Day card. I know that will be a keeper.
Be sure to keep a couple of heads from your sunflowers and place them in a spot where you and the girls can see them. The birds will enjoy them so much and keep you all entertained.
Wishing you a wonderful day and week ahead.❤
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Thank you Sandra. We are watching the birds loving the seeds. Have a wonderful week♥️

For whatever reason, I love that photo of the corn. I wonder where it will end up! And the grandparents day card is darling. You are lucky to have two such dears! Happy Sunday.
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Yes, where will the corn end up? Thank and Happy Sunday, Jeanie!

Love that every sweet lady in your life has been elevated to Queen. Fits perfectly. Fall has arrived early at your area so cooler weather will be welcomed me thinks. Our low temps have subsided for the coming week and temps will go back to high 80’s and I’m welcoming that. What a great idea to run the bush hog over the heap of flowers. A feast for Gods creatures. May you have a peaceful Sunday and may you come visit us again here in Colorado. .

Alice, we love the Colorado Rockies…beautiful in every season. Yes, I am now a queen 🥰 Wishing you a lovely week my friend!

Thank you Carole. Yes, bring in fall!
Monica says
Love your post today. I always love the pictures of your girls! It’s fun to watch them grow – into Queens, no less. 😊
Regarding your ‘bloomer’, my son says it looks like hyssop-leaf thoroughwort. Both this and Boneset are in the genus Eupatorium. It was interesting to read that these are in the sunflower family.
Have a blessed week!
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Thank you Monica. The hubby says thank you for the info and to thank your son. We love to explore and find wildflowers. Wishing you a wonderful week!

Pam, Happy Grandparents Day! Your card is precious. Congrats on Queen status. That’s so sweet! EM has such a good imagination and is such a sweet girl. The glider picture is wonderful. Nature enjoying the remains of the sunflowers is interesting to watch. I throw our zinnia heads out most years and the finches seem to like them. The throwback picture is a favorite, the fires are so devastating. Praying for all those affected. Enjoy your day! Clara ♥️
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Thank you so much Clara. EM has a wonderful imagination for sure. Yes, prayers for all affected by the wildfires…so tragic.

Happy Grandparents Day Pam and Butch!! I spent last night with all my grands, they came for a patio cookout, with lots of fans going to keep us cool. Those sad sunflowers make me want to cry and the last of summer slips away…thinking of your trip to Colorado is a great way to beat the heat this weekend! I think you need to tell the girls that they remain princesses because you are the Queen!

Pam @ Everyday Living says
Same to you, Jenna. How fun that all of your grands were together for a patio cookout…sounds perfect. I have tried to explain to EM that I am the Queen, but she says we are all queens!

What lovely cards from your two precious princesses! Must have made your day. Love the photo with Queen Pam and Queen EM and Princess Emma. These are such treasured memories. And that glider will have so many stories to tell, including the ones you will be making with your cuties.
Pam @ Everyday Living says
How very sweet Asha. Memories are being made…
Wishing you a wonderful week!

Now that the princesses have been promoted to queens, I suppose there will be even more tea parties and grand adventures in the Sunshine Cottage! Lots of planning to do for royal events and such occasions, for sure! So precious! And that Grandparents’ Day greeting must have melted your hearts as much as the heat melted the chocolate kiss! Coming to visit you always makes me smile, and it seems the Lord always knows what Bible verse to prompt you to share. This one comforted me greatly today – so thankful for the reminder that He is near.
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Cheryl, I guess 3 queens need to plan royal events.
I am so thankful the shared scripture was a comfort today. He is near!
Roxanne Bernard says
The picture of the three queens is just adorable! There will be so many royal memories made in Sunshine Cottage. (my sister and I gave my mother a pillow years ago with the sentiment there can only be one queen…with which she most heartily concurred!). You all find the most interesting plants. I always enjoy reading about them. Have a most joyous week!
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Aw, thanks Roxanne. I have tried to explain to EM that I am the queen, but she says we are all queens 😂 Wishing you a most wonderful week!

What a lovely card for Grandparents Day!
The Queens are looking quite happy on the Grandmother Queen’s swing. Pam… your Mom is looking down and is smiling ear to ear!
And how wonderful to beat the heat with a return trip to Colorado… even if it’s in your memories.
Happy Sunday to you both! Enjoy the week to come my dear friends!
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Thank you Nancy. We are hoping for a trip in November, not to CO, but to the mountains!

Hi Pam, a little late but here I am … I don’t know what happens, but when she gets home after a while it seems like all the problems are accumulating.
I love many things about your post: the girls, of course, and the congratulations on Grandparents’ Day. In a previous post, you commented that these publications were actually like a chronicle of everyday life and family events. In fact, it is a very beautiful chronicle.
Your beautiful fields, autumn is coming, our favorite season … who can give more?
A hug
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Hola Dolores.
