Happy October sweet friends! I can’t believe the calendar has turned another page. An unusual year to say the least, 2020 is three fourths history!
“Praise the Lord! Praise God in his sanctuary; praise him in his mighty heavens! Praise him for his mighty deeds; praise him according to his excellent greatness!”
Psalm 150:1-2
What would autumn be without orange pumpkins and yellow mums? They might be appearing on the porch of the Sunshine Cottage, let’s take a look!
“My favorite color is October.”
-unknown
It appears that autumn might have exploded on the porch of the Sunshine Cottage!
Heirloom pumpkins have been stacked and a little wooden wheelbarrow is loaded with pumpkins, gourds, and ornamental corn.
The sentimental glider has a cute pumpkin pillow and a couple of cozy throws to ward off the early morning chill!
My Renaissance Man tied corn stalks on the columns…cotton wreaths decorate the antique French doors!
The barely pink warty pumpkin is EM’s favorite! She had requested a hot pink pumpkin, her favorite color. Not exactly easy to find one that color but this was acceptable!
I was hoping the two large mums would be bloomed out before I took photos. Oh well, this way we will get to enjoy them longer!
“October is the opal month of the year. It is the month of glory, of ripeness. It is the picture-month.”
-Henry Ward Beecher
Thank you for your visits and gracious comments. Wishing you a delightful October day!

Just beautiful Pam, I love all your autumn touches at your cottage! The cotton boll wreaths are wonderful on your double antique doors! October is my favorite month and I was visiting my favorite pumpkin patch yesterday in anticipation of filling up a wheelbarrow 🙂 Enjoy this wonderful fall weather under a cozy throw ♥
Thank you Mary. October is my favorite and the weather has been perfect…Enjoy ♥️
Just the title captured my attention, Pam, to be able to see what you’re doing at the Sunshine cottage! How exciting it must be for you with a new project, to be able to decorate and enjoy. This is what my sisters and I love about our booths – styling – but you get to actually live in it! It looks fabulous with all the bounty of the pumpkins and mums, as well as the cornstalks and cotton boll wreaths. I love that stand by the door, made of tree stumps. Is it new? It’s so neat to be able to instill the love of seasons, beauty and quiet time with the girls too. I can imagine the fun you’re all having. ♥
Thank you Rita. I am having so much fun with the girls in the cottage. The tree trunk stand isn’t new. I saw it at an arts and craft show last year and thought it was fun, RM said it was ugly. I thought it was funny that he mentioned using it on the porch of the cottage!
I love the abundance of pumpkins! Fall is my favorite season.
Thank you Rachel. I love all the colors of autumn.
I can feel your excitement decorating Sunshine Cottage’s porch for the first Autumn. It is inviting and festive. Love everything.
Thank you Bonnie. I am loving this weather and decorating the cottage for autumn!
Love your play house all decked out for Autumn but can you please tell me why the pink pumpkin has warts and what causes the warts on the pumpkins. So very interesting.
Thank you Alice. You have asked a good question, so I did a little research.
What Causes Warts on Pumpkins? While many people desire a smooth, unblemished pumpkin to carve for Halloween, others love the look of the recently introduced warty pumpkin varieties. No, these aren’t afflicted with some heinous disease; they are actually genetically engineered to create bumpy pumpkin fruit. It is actually natural and not unusual for pumpkins to have bumps, but years of selective breeding have weeded out this natural tendency until what we view as the norm are unblemished pumpkins. Over the course of ten years of selective breeding, the brand Super Freak has released their most wart-riddled pumpkins to date, Knuckle Head pumpkins. These are genetically designed to be 12-16 pounds (5.5 to 7.5 kg.) of lumpy, bumpy, perfectly sized for carving especially, and deliciously creepy. Gargoyle and Goosebumps are other varieties of warty pumpkin.

Thank you for the research into the warty pumpkins. It’s goof to know thru aren’t diseased.
Just WONDERFUL! Those gorgeous wreaths caught my eye! Happy Autumn!
Thank you dear Maristella. Enjoy the weekend!
Absolutely gorgeous! I would sit down on that glider with a good book and be lost to the world. Such an inviting space. Thanks so much for the inspiration Pam!
Thank you for visiting Denise. I am enjoying the glider while reading a good book!
Pam, the cottage looks so happy in her autumn attire. Oh, how I love the cotton wreaths (I have one in my kitchen window) they are so pretty on the doors. And, the ginkgo tree is beautiful and I can see it beginning to turn its lovely gold.
Wishing you a glorious October, my friend.🧡
Thank you Sandra. I am enjoying every minute I spend in the cottage!
Love it! This farmer’s daughter was drawn to the cotton wreaths, as well as the pumpkins. I’ll be driving by on my way to the lake later today and will be staring up through your woods to imagine such a beautiful secret place! 🙂
Aw, thank you Luann. I am enjoying this sweet little place!
How pretty! The Sunshine Cottage is going to be lovely in every season!
Thank you Stacy, it is my little happy place!
Oh Pam, Sunshine Cottage looks beautiful in her autumn finery! It looks so happy!! The cotton boll wreaths are the perfect nod to where you live. The cottage is just amazing…it would be my playhouse and I’d be out there every day, just puttering.
Roxanne, I am in the cottage several times a day puttering, reading, and playing. It is truly my happy place. Wishing you a beautiful day ♥️
Pam, Your cottage porch is gorgeous! Love the cotton boll wreaths against your pretty blue doors. All the pumpkins and mum’s are just beautiful! I don’t think I’ve ever seen a blush pink one but glad you found one for sweet EM. The glider is ready for apple cider and dessert. The pillow is adorable. Our decorations on the front porch we’re wrecked by squirrels even though the pumpkins we’re artificial! Lol We have bite marks and scattered little styrofoam pumpkins all over place. I think I may buy some real ones after seeing your pretty porch. Love the stacked pumpkins on your tree stand. Enjoy your day sweet friend! Clara ♥️🍁🎃
I typed were but spell check changed it! Ugh!
That happens to me all the time!
Thanks so much Clara. Apple cider and dessert sound fabulous especially if you could join me. I am so sorry the squirrels have wrecked your porch. All of the little critters are cute to watch, but oh the damage they can do. Enjoy your day my friend♥️
Happy October, Pam! Sunshine Cottage wears the season beautifully! Everything looks gorgeous and picture perfect! I know that you will make so many wonderful autumn memories on that pretty porch with your sweet girls. Happy Thursday, dear friend! Enjoy your day!

Thank you Pinky. I think we both love fall!
Your autumnal Sunshine Cottage is such a joy to behold! There are so many charming surprises to find! I’m enchanted with your stand holding the three pumpkins, straw, and wonderful piece of wood! And your sweet girls and their pumpkins of choice, was EM able to grow her pumpkin? What fun this charming post has been! 🧡
I am so glad that you enjoyed, Sue. We have grown pumpkins by accident, but next year we are going to sow a patch!
Pam, I hope you don’t mind me living vicariously through you and your cottage. What a beautiful autumn porch full of pumpkins, mums, and all things autumn. The cotton boll wreaths on your beautiful antique doors is perfect. Love the pumpkin stack on the stand that holds them. You and Butch placed this cottage in the perfect spot surrounded by all the beauty of your garden. I am really thankful you have been blessed with this addition to your home and grounds. Thank you for this amazing post and the Psalm of Praise.
Dianne you are so sweet. The little cottage has truly been a happy place. The best part is having my quiet time in the cottage early in the morning. I guess you could say it is an adult play house. Enjoy your weekend!

Oh Pam, I can just feel the joy in your heart as you decorated the porch of the Sunshine Cottage for it’s first Fall display!! I love the pumpkin topiary and the cotton wreaths, it all looks so festive and welcoming!! Beautiful!!
Jenna
Jenna, it is my happy place right now. I have kept the girls three days a week until this school year. Ella Mae loves K-4, so she decided she would go full time. I have Emma on Mondays and Fridays. I really miss not having EM, but I am enjoying one on one time with EK. I do have more “me” time which I am spending in the cottage.
I’m so glad EM loves school and can go everyday, even though I know you miss her, and you can focus on EK without big sis, and have more time to yourself
This is so beautiful! If you have time, I would love for you to join us at Embracing Home and Family link party on Fridays.https://theeverydayfarmhouse.com/embracing-home-and-family-link-party-10/
Thank you Jennifer. I would love to link up!

Each and every photo could grace the cover of a magazine. They make me wish there was a pumpkin patch nearby so that I could enjoy the kind of fall you are celebrating. Since there isn’t, I’ll just enjoy your lovely decorated cottage.
