Happy Thursday sweet friends. We have enjoyed days and days of beautiful autumn weather. It is time for a stroll in the Autumn Garden!
“Satisfy us in the morning with your steadfast love, that we may rejoice and be glad all our days.”
Psalm 90:14
Our perfect autumn weather will more than likely change this weekend as Hurricane Delta will impact the Gulf Coast. We are expecting a rainy and breezy Saturday even in our NE Alabama Foothills as the storm moves northeast. Many could be impacted by yet another hurricane.
Yesterday morning I took advantage of the pretty autumn light in the garden to grab my camera and take a few pictures. Let’s take a look!
Zinnias and celosia are still blooming even though their leaves are quite sad! The purple million bells in the terra-cotta pot are performing really well. Recent temps in the low forties didn’t seem to bother them.
I love a stack of pumpkins!
The light cast pretty shadows on the bronze statue! In its former life, it was a fountain.
Lots of celosia seeds were planted, but only one plant came up. It has produced an abundance of blooms and it is taller than I am!
Blush nandina looks so pretty in the autumn light, especially with the dew sparkling on its leaves!
A couple of heirloom pumpkins found a home on the rusty bench!
I have received many question about the chartreuse-colored shrubs in my garden. Sunshine ligustrums provide a pop of color that I love!
This particular dahlia, “Avignon” has performed better than any other types that I have planted. Its burgundy stripes and speckles are exquisite!
A coral bark Japanese maple is in the foreground and a Japanese Bloodgood Maple is in the background.
Mums and pumpkins on the porch of the Sunshine Cottage. If you missed the cottage autumn porch you can view it here.
To say that I am enjoying the Sunshine Cottage would be an understatement.
You might notice that I have fallen behind on weeding!
This photo was taken in the late afternoon!
Peeking through the adagio maiden grasses.
Thank you for taking time to stroll through the garden.
Each season brings change and I find beauty in all of them! Wishing you a delightful day!

So beautiful Pam, the rainbow of colors in all your flowers, foliage and pumpkins is such a fabulous Fall display! We really have been blessed with a beautiful fall! You really raided the pumpkin patch, I love all the different sizes and types of your pumpkins, you can never have too many! Thank you for letting us wander through your glorious garden!
Jenna
Thank you Jenna. I did raid the pumpkin patch!
You have such a lovely garden! Thanks for taking us through.
Thank you so much Debbie. Have a wonderful day!
Your garden is always beautiful, but these pictures show how pretty it is this time of the year.
Thank you Penny. Will you be gardening at your new home?
Absolutely wonderful…You have brighten up my rainy and cloudy day! Thank you for sharing!
Thank you Maristella!
Always good to get great garden pix before the wind and rain blow through. I hope by the time it gets to you it is wet enough to make pretty gardens and not take things out! These are splendid photos. Love the “tower” by the cottage.
Thank you Jeanie. Hopefully, we will just have rain!
Pam, Your garden is still so colorful. Your various pumpkins are lovely. I, too, love your pumpkin stack. We’re going to enjoy today as it’s predicted for us to receive several inches of rain from the hurricane. Our hearts go out to those on the coast who will be impacted. It seems they’ve had an especially challenging year. Enjoy your day sweet friend. We enjoyed our stroll through your pretty garden. Clara❤️
Thank you so much Clara. Stay safe with the wind and rain, Clara ♥️
Lovely stroll through your garden.
Would you believe I don’t have any pumpkins. I think because of Hurricane Laura and Sally our Lowes have not gotten pumpkins before I left last Wednesday. I am seeing some great heirloom pumpkins here at the grocery store but Mike said he was not hauling pumpkins from Texas to Alabama and I understand that. So I will just enjoy yours.
Have a good week.
Thank you Bonnie. So sorry you don’t have any pumpkins. We had reservations this afternoon for outdoor dining at Bottega, but had to cancel because I have another bad cold. This would have been our first time eating out since February!
Really enjoy your garden Pam and I’m sure you do too. Maybe not the weeding but the exploring. Do your granddaughters enjoy the Sunshine house?
Thank you Carol. The granddaughters love the Sunshine Cottage. We are having lots of fun playing, we had a tea party before there was any furniture. We sat on the floor and used a stool for our tea table. It was perfect!
Dear Pam, I so enjoyed my stroll through your garden. I am in love with your dahlia, it is a beauty. And, your celosia is so pretty. It dries beautifully, should you be interested. Everything in your garden speaks autumn, as does your lovely cottage. You should have a garden party. Enjoy all your work, sweet friend. I pray the storm will not be destructive.
This particular dahlia has outperformed all the others. Thank you Sandra and wishing you a lovely weekend!
Pam, your autumn garden is stunning! What a treat to be able to take a tour on this pretty fall day! The first photo with the zinnias is gorgeous! I’m so happy that you are enjoying that beautiful cottage! Take care, sweet friend, and happy October!
Thanks so much my friend. Wishing you a lovely weekend!
Gorgeous Pam! The autumn light you captured is exquisite and I love how the light plays on your statue. Your cottage looks like it has always been planted there with the grasses in front. 🙂 We’re looking at a wet weekend too, and I hope Delta loses strength and doesn’t wreak too much havoc in an already hurricane weary area. Happy Thursday. ♥
Thanks so much Mary. It started raining early evening yesterday and is still raining. We have a slight tornado risk this afternoon!
Good Afternoon Dear Pam,
We are all bracing for rain this weekend aren’t we, in fact we are having a real downpour right now and the gulf has double red flag warnings. We survived our first Hurricane (Sally) so I suppose we are officially Floridians now.
I am enjoying browsing through all of your beautiful posts and dreaming of gardening a little this Winter, but the real focus will be in the Spring of 2021.
I am really enjoying the light you have captured in this post, both morning and evening and of course your Fall blooms continue to delight. I just read Mary’s comment and I was thinking the same thing about your lovely cottage, it looks so settled and as though it’s been there all along.
I enjoyed visiting with you this afternoon !
Jemma
Thank you for your lovely visit, my friend. I just know you have big plans for spring planting. I can’t wait to see what you will do. I know it will be fabulous!
It began raining here yesterday and is still raining. We have a slight risk for a tornado. Praying for all that have been impacted. Happy Saturday!
Every picture is even more glorious than the last one! Fall has come to Alabama, finally😍🎃
Yes, it has. Thank you Penny!
Your October garden is just beautiful. The Avignon dahlia is amazing. The colors and your grasses speak of October for sure. Thank you for the beautiful tour. So happy you are enjoying the Cottage.
Thanks so much Dianne. Happy weekend!
Lucky you to still have beauty in your garden. Mine is gone, and it’s time to start cutting back and wait for it to re-emerge next year. In the meantime, some changes are going to be made.
Thank you Linda. Are you staying on in Maine?
We’re here until late November when we’ll go to Tennessee for Thanksgiving with a daughter. Then, we’ll probably head on to Houston.
That sounds wonderful!
Such exquisites glimpses of your garden! You have captured the light of autumn so beautifully. Praying everyone stays safe through this storm.
Thank you Roxanne. Yes, praying!
Very lovely pictures! Thank you for the stroll in your Autumn garden. I just love the dahlia and the adorable statue! It’s a beautiful place to be inspired..
Maria, I am so glad you joined me!
So gorgeous!
Thank you Amy!
Beautiful, beautiful gardens, Pam & Butch. I love the light angles!
Thank you Rita! It was a beautiful morning for photos!
How well you always capture the essence of Autumn – the postlude of a Spring/Summer of dedicated toil….and we are so fortunate to be invited to ever share in it, bless you and Butch. Avignon is simply superb..you certainly have the eye for selecting the most appealing of blooms. An A+ for your picture-taking. Prayers for those in the path of Delta – we expect heavy rains today and this evening. May all be safe and snug. Sorry about your cold… Daily Elderberry syrup works wonders
in avoiding the sniffles….
Thank you Maria. It is a lot of toil especially for my RM. The rain began yesterday and continues…we have a slight risk for a tornado. Praying for all who have been impacted. Wishing you a snug Saturday afternoon and evening!
Magical!
Gorgeous post. I love virtually looking at your glorious gardens. The flowers are so pretty. I love fall. I am admiring your pumpkins and mums and the darling stacked pumpkins. Happy Sunday.
Thank you Linda. It is my favorite time of the year!
Your garden is lovely as it marches through the seasons. The Avignon dahlia is very striking. I hope your cold has improved over the last few days.
Thank you Karen, I am feeling much better!
Maiden grasses – I didn’t know they were called that. So interesting. Everything looks so fallish around your place, and it was such a joy to take an autumn stroll with you, sweet friend. God bless you richly.
Thank you and God’s richest blessings on you, Cheryl!
