Good morning…or good whatever time of day it is for you!
“Blessed is everyone who fears the Lord, who walks in his ways!”
Psalm 128:1
The waning of the moon after October’s first full moon was spectacular in the early hours last week as it was joined by Venus. They appear close together but…they are millions of miles apart! It’s not often we have to distinguish between moons in the same month. It only happens “once in a blue moon”! Mars, Saturn, and Jupiter are also showing off in the clear night sky right now. Hope you’ve had a chance to view the heavens!
Strolling around in the garden and enjoying the final days before cold weather changes everything. No frost yet for us and the next few days look mild.
The Coosa was peaceful and lazy this past week and only a small bit of color is appearing along the banks. It won’t be long though!
Fall foliage seemingly offering a port hole peep into an amazing October sky!
EK is looking a bit too grown up with this pose! She enjoys hanging out in the Sunshine Cottage.
EM picked some special wildflowers for her PJ. Any time we are out and about and flowers are in bloom, she insists on picking some to give to PJ or her Mommy!
The girls visited a pumpkin patch for a Saturday outing so these few on an old rusty bench won’t be that exciting, but we still like ’em!
Can’t get too much cotton and this is a favorite field of ours. I think the wide open view of Lookout Mountain in the background makes it special!
Finally…we were able to have a sit down meal at one of our special places and this was my choice. Not only is it presented unbelievably well, it was unbelievably delicious. Pork chop with polenta, collard greens, and an awesome relish.
We picked up this “wooden” basket from a local craftsman last fall and it has found all sorts of uses, from a place to put my crocs, to flowers, and now pumpkins! I did get in trouble when placing my old outdoor shoes in it, but is was so convenient sitting on the back porch!
I thought this arrangement PJ put together using fresh flowers, berries, and greenery from right here in the yard was too pretty and needed to have a spot in today’s post. The pumpkin stack standing nearby offers the perfect background!
Not a throwback pic, our snowball viburnums literally bloom to some extent in just about every month of the year. Not loaded like in the spring but blooms nevertheless!
Today we go back 3 years to a special time for us as we spent a few days in mid-October, 2017, in Aspen. Naming the cottage in our garden the Sunshine Cottage was influenced at least in part by my fondness for this song and of course our love for a sunny day! We all know that clouds sometimes block the sun, but that never means it isn’t there! If we had a wish we could wish for you, it would be for sunshine all the while. Another wish (and request) is that you would journey back to Aspen with us to discover how “Music Makes Pictures”!
Wishing you a pleasant and peaceful week!

Butch, How well said. We all know that on a cloudy day when we don’t see the sun shining in all it glory, it doesn’t mean it isn’t there. If only I could remember that. And that applies to many things. God, love, hope for a few.
Today my daughter is marrying a good man, a Christian man, and I’m go glad I could fly from Co to NC to be with them. The sunshine will be on there shoulders today.

I will make sure Butch reads your comment Alice. I am so happy for your daughter and you. It is so great you can be there for the wedding. Blessings on the couple on this their special day!

I love Southern Sundays! So happy for you to have had a meal outside somewhere – we still have yet to enjoy that. I agree with you on the field bouquet – it deserved the spotlight you gave it. Have a great week.
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Rita, it was absolutely one of the best meals with plenty of space between the tables. The weather was perfect as we dined alfresco. I think 2020 has made me appreciate what I have taken for granted.
Bonnie Morgan says
Butch, I enjoyed reading Music Makes Pictures again. I just asked Alexa to play Sunshine on my Shoulders. All they had was a duet with John and Barry Manilow. The pictures from Colorado were beautiful and the sweet story was touching to read again. I would love to hear you sing Sunshine on My Shoulders.
Yes, I view the heavens every morning. Rising early is special. It is my ritual to turn the coffee on and walk outside. The heavens declare the glory of God and the work of his hands every morning. I loved your picture of the waning moon and Venus.
Your post today is full of blessings. Thank you for sharing pumpkins, flowers, cotton growing, and your girls. We are blessed to share in your everyday living.
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Bonnie, your comments are always so appreciated. I also rise very early, I love seeing the first light of day. The heavens do declare the glory of God. Blessings…

The photo of the moon and Venus is stunning, so beautiful! All your pumpkins make me smile, and I love the flower pitcher with the pumpkin stack behind them 🙂 The girls are growing so fast, they are both so adorable! Love the cotton field, I always love seeing cotton growing in all its glory. So glad you got to enjoy a wonderful meal, and yes, we have all learned how to be much more grateful this year! As always, a beautiful post. Full of beauty and lovely times. You must find a bottle of “Stop Grow” somewhere and spray Emma. She is growing up way too fast. I love the cotton field, just beautiful. So happy you were able to enjoy a nice dinner out, we have all taken the ‘little things’ for granted. Wishing you a lovely and peaceful day. Many blessings to you and your beautiful family.❤

Thank you Sandra. Wishing you a lovely autumn week!

Our time living in CO was magical, but only fully appreciated after the majestic surroundings were no longer there to be readily viewed. Although I counted my blessings, it was only after,
that I realized our good fortune in having that sojourn. Thank you for this sweet reminder. The
princesses continue to sprout in beauty and cuteness. Your Autumn garden and moon shots
are so lovely. That alfresco meal is a winner, as was the long-awaited experience, to be certain.
Best wishes to Alice and family and a blessed Sabbath to all.
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Mary, I didn’t know you had lived in CO. It was so good to have a meal at one of our favorite restaurants. Wishing you a joy-filled week!
Roxanne Bernard says
Pam and Butch, what a joyful Sunday post! John and I love to load the pups into the truck, turn up the radio, and drive to Dairy Queen for a cone. Whenever John Denver comes on, we sing along loudly. Well, John sings and I make a joyful noise. We are also partial to James Taylor’s Going to Carolina. The planets have been truly spectacular, I’ve never seen Mars so red.
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Roxanne, you teenagers driving to Dairy Queen with your music blasting ♥️ I also like JT’s Going to Carolina! Wishing you a lovely week!

A beautiful and inspiring post on this cold morning in the mountains. Loved the waning moon and Venus, the Coosa and blue sky, the beauty of the garden still radiant in its fall color, the pumpkins and cotton fields. Finally, the beautiful queens and John Denver’s beautiful lyrics were the crowing touch of this beautiful post. God bless you and all of your readers.

Pam and Butch, What a wonderful Sunday post. I love seeing the moon, stars and heavenly bodies. We’ve been blessed with a beautiful fall weekend. Your pumpkins in the basket and blooming mums are so pretty along with the changing leaves. The girls are precious and sweet. Your bouquet is lovely and looks so nice on your table with the pumpkin stack background. The alfresco meal looks delicious. We love sunshine on our shoulders, especially in the fall when the air is crisp and the sky is a brilliant blue. Enjoy your Sunday! Clara♥️🍁

Good Afternoon Butch and Pam! Your Sunday Posts are always inspirational and heartwarming. But that moon and Venus was amazing! I love the sky at night and it has been incredible as of late.
I am so happy you got to go to your favorite place to enjoy a fabulous meal! It looked scrumptious.
We go to Colorado often because of family… we may head to that John Denver Sanctuary… it’s right up our alley in more ways then one as it’s a place we would enjoy and it’s not too far away from family.
Beautiful pictures and I always enjoy coming over for a bit.
Happy Sunday!
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Good morning, Nancy. A meal out was so wonderful, something I took for granted but now appreciate. I do recommend the John Denver Sanctuary, I just know you would enjoy!

I have missed your blogs.
One would think that being at home would have allowed me more time to read, and do other things. However, it wasn’t quite like that – monitoring & running a business remotely had been a big challenge…I finally got my 26 employees back to the office 2 weeks ago.
I had to put a lot of my personal social media on the back burner the last 7 months.
I enjoyed your blog today, and I am hoping I will be able to return to a bit of normality in the days to come!
Your grand-daughters are beautiful and they have grown so much!!
Much love,
Esther 💕

Delightful post Pam. Your grandies are growing so quickly! And I love that rusty old bench.
We have been watching Jupiter, Saturn & Mars which are easily seen with our naked eyes & much closer with our telescopes. The rings of Saturn are amazing 😀
Blessings sweet friend, ♥
