Merry, merry Tuesday dear ones! I hope your week is off to a good start. The weather was gorgeous on Sunday, sunny and 64 degrees. Yesterday, it felt like old man winter had shown up. It was the perfect day for drinking hot chocolate, playing Christmas music, and reading a sweet Christmas novella. It felt good to slow the pace for a day. The decorating is completed, still a little more shopping to do, and the Christmas baking has begun.
“She will bear a son, and you shall call his name Jesus, for he will save his people from their sins.” All this took place to fulfill what the Lord had spoken by the prophet:”
Matthew 1:21-22
I am a big fan of plaids! When I was in junior high school, plaid was all the rage. Do any of you remember the brand Villager? They made preppy clothes, wool plaid skirts, sweaters, button down shirts, etc. I remember a specific outfit that I received for Christmas one year…a wool green/navy blue/red plaid skirt, blue oxford shirt, and a wool forest green sweater, forest green knee socks and of course, Bass Weejuns tasseled loafers. Did I just tell my age?
Why not have fun and mix patterns? The table covering is a plaid throw with tartan plaid chargers, April Cornell Cottage Rose Forest napkins, and Queens “Seasons Greetings” dinner and salad plates. I was so excited to find the blue and white Christmas tree pattern at Tuesday Morning several years ago. A favorite but discontinued stemware from Horchow and hammered stainless flatware complete each place setting.
The Lynch Creek Farm centerpiece from last week’s tablescape was placed in a dough bowl with some added Leyland Cypress to fill in around the edges.
Sentimental deer ornaments were placed on saucers with a few clippings of rosemary…love its fragrance! I have used the ornaments as place card holders or they would make lovely gifts for your dinner guests.
Can you believe the Leyland Cypress has been on my chandelier over four weeks and it is still holding up?! I left the hanging star ornaments for one more tablescape.
Sweet old fashioned toys underneath the tree…rockin’ horse, dolls, teddy bear, jack-in-the-box, sailboat, and a nutcracker to name a few!
Seth surprised me with the antler candle stands that he made for my birthday a few years ago. We had made a trip to Montana in early September of that year and had seen some in a shop that I loved, but they were $350.00 a pair. Yikes!! Of course, I love these so much more!
Making felt decor has become quite popular. I know you would be quite impressed if I told you that I made these darling felt cones, right? But, I didn’t!

Thanks you for your visit and gracious comments. Wishing you a joy-filled day!

Haha, Pam, yes I remember Villager. I still have collar pins they sold (remember the ladybugs?). Your outfit sounds like my high school uniform, except we had to wear white blouses. Good times…..
Your table is fabulous. I love those blue & white Christmas dishes and how you liberally used your blues with the plaids. Very pretty….and preppy!
I had forgotten the ladybug pins. Thank you Rita…
Pam, that could be a setting straight out of Balmoral! I love the plaid, Seth’s beautiful antler candle holders, and the plates! (Clan McGregor here). I think I had your exact outfit back in the day! The summer I was around 14, my best friend and I took the city bus to Charleston for shopping (no A/C). I was so proud of the peach kilt I had bought with babysitting money. My Mama took one look at it, put me back on the bus, and made me return it! It was her very first glimpse of a miniskirt, and no way was that happening in Mrs. June’s house!! I was so mad, but now I am grateful and blessed for the way she raised me.
Thanks for the sweet comments. Please keep sharing your memories, I love reading them. I remember the mini skirts, and they were quite short. Your Mama loved you and that is why she sent you back to return the peach kilt! We didn’t always realize it when we were young, but we both are grateful and blessed by our raising!
Pam, I do remember wool plaid skirts, oxford shirts and cardigans! This table setting is so beautiful. I love everything about it!
Thank you so much Penny!
Pam, Your table is so festive! Love the use of the deer ornaments adorned with rosemary. I know your dining room had such a wonderful fragrance as rosemary has such a pleasant scent. Your deer antler candlesticks are beautiful and always a favorite. Seth crafting them makes them more special we’re certain. The blue Christmas plates are so pretty and your stemware pairs perfectly with them. The felt cones are cute! I remember the plaid skirts my grandmother made similar to the ones in the store windows. Plaid was so popular in the fall and winter. I had very few store bought clothes but had great couture knock offs! Lol Great memories! Happy Tuesday!
Thank you sweet Clara. I know your clothes made by your grandmother were beautiful and cherished. My beloved Mother could do about everything, but she did not sew. I had two aunts that sewed for me. Sweet memories…
Memories are made of this. Plaid was very in during high school but money was not plentiful in my day but I worked all Summer for a neighbor in tobacco and every penny was saved to buy clothes for school. First purchase? Weejuns that I polished EVERY night! My mom taught me if a guys shoes weren’t polished and his fingernails had dirt under them that I shouldn’t slow down and keep looking at other guys. Lordy day, that has stuck with me to this day. Your tables are always beautiful because you put so much of yourself into making them beautiful and mean full. We had snow overnight. A white Christmas is in store for us.
Alice, thank you for sharing those precious memories. I was so proud to get the Weejuns, I took great care of mine. I know the snow is pretty. Stay warm and cozy dear one!
Good morning, Pam! I adore plaid so this table makes my heart sing! It is beautiful and perfect for Christmas. I know those antler candle holders are much more special and valuable to you than the ones you saw in Montana. What a thoughtful and treasured gift! Have a most merry day, sweet friend!
Thank you Shannon. Yes, the antler candle stands are one of my all-time favorite gifts. Wishing you a merry week, sweet friend!
Yes, I remember Villager and John Meyer. In fact, I still have my blue and cream plaid wool skirt and cardigan. I wish I had saved the shoes I wore.
I love your mix of pattern with plaids, florals, and transferware. I love the blue Queens, “Season’s Greetings” pattern. So much to love on your table today.
It is amazing your Leyland Cyprus has not dried out yet.
Have a great week with your baking and wrapping.
Save well my friend.
Bonnie, I am amazed that you still have an outfit from??..I kept my forest green sweater for years and I finally threw it away. Thank you for your sweet comments.
Oh I love plaids too Pam. Seems I have really gotten into the plaids a lot over the last few years. Girl…I am with ya on the age…with our woo skirts and caridigan’s. LOL! Love those beautiful dishes. The blue and white plates with the Christmas tree are stunning. Love it all. I hope that you are indeed enjoying a little down time as well. Hugs and blessings, Cindy
Thanks Cindy. I am trying to take some time to rest and read. Blessings…
This is all so very beautiful, Pam. But my favorite thing is the antler candle holders. How special that Seth made that for you — it’s so elegant. I love plaid and am always nervous about mixing them, but it looks great on your table! Thanks for the inspiration.
Thank you Jeanie. Something that is made by someone you love is always more special.
And don’t forget the Aigner and John Romaine purses to complete “the look”! I too have always loved plaids…and still do! Your table is beautiful as always. Have a blessed Christmas.
Oh yes, I had an Aigner purse to complete the outfit. Thanks so much Beth!
I adore plaid too!
Good Morning my sweet friend Pam!
Your tablescape is amazing. The mix of patterns is superb. You outdid yourself. I love the china pattern and April’s napkins.
Seth’s Antler candleholders are always going to be special. I just love them!
Thank you for your beautiful blog my friend.
Merry Tuesday to you as well.
PS. I made a plaid suit in Home Economics. The plaid had to match and it was also lined! And you wonder why I don’t sew anymore?!?!
Nancy, matching plaids must have been a nightmare. I had nine weeks of sewing when I was in the seventh grade. It took me the entire time to make an apron. I didn’t like it and it frustrated me. I decided then, I would not be making my own clothes.
I always enjoy your visits, sweet friend!
Pam, your table is so pretty and I think the plaid always looks so happy. Love your china and one day I will get those goblets through the screen. I adore them. I loved hearing about your outfit, I wore the same and did love knee socks. Do girls wear them anymore?
Wishing all of you wonderful days, they are passing too quickly.
Thank you Sandra. I haven’t seen girls wearing knee socks in a long time. I think they mainly wear leggings now. Have a wonderful evening!
Amazing tablescape! Such inspiration!
Thanks you dear one!
I still love tasseled Weejuns! Hope mine never wear out!
When, I was writing this I thought I should order a pair. They are timeless.
Oh goodness I do love that dish pattern! Something about blue is such a nice addition to the traditional holiday colors. Love the tartan and the pretty blue stemware! You’ve inspired me for a tablescape!
Thank you Liz, I will be looking for that tablescape. Yours are always beautiful!
When I see plaids I think of you. Williams Sonoma has some plaid plates that you need to add to your collection of wonderful things.
Linda, I am trying to resist those WS plates. Merry Wednesday!
Beautiful Pam! I love your merry mix of patterns and plaid! Your memories of Villager and Bass Weejuns take me back 🙂 I love your LCF centerpiece on the table with the additional cypress in your dough bowl and your wonderful antler candleholders Seth made for you! I miss Tuesday Morning…sniff…your Queens Seasons Greetings is a favorite pattern. ♥
Thank you Mary. Did you you receive snow or ice?
I love love love the plaid throw for your tablecloth, it really looks warm and cozy, so perfect for this cold weather we’re having! Brrrr! I love the felt cones, what a fun craft I just might have to try 🙂 How special that Seth made the antler candle holders, homemade gifts are the best! Enjoy this last week of pre Christmas fun!
Jenna
Thank you so much Jenna. Merry Wednesday!
Such a warm and cozy table, Pam! Can’t say what I like best about it, mmmm. The plaid! Blue plates and glassware are striking against it. Have a great week!
Thank you Sandra and Merry Thursday to you!
I don’t think plaid will ever go out of style, at least I hope not. It just says “Christmas” to me. I love Seth’s beautiful antler candle holders and they have to be extra special because he made them for you.
Yes the antler candle stands are very special, thank you for visiting Karen!
Lovely, dear friend. You know how much I love blue, and these Christmas plates are so beautiful. And yes, I remember Villager quite well, and grieve that what my granddaughters will remember are jeans with holes throughout! The times have certainly changed.
Yes, times have changed. Thank you sweet friend!
I really love plaid, too! Everything looks so Christmasy in your home – so warm and inviting! God bless you, sweet friend.
Thank you and blessings, Cheryl!
Such a pretty table! Merry Christmas!
Merry Christmas Angie, and thank you!
