At a glance, winter might seem lifeless, but a lot is going on sort of “behind the scenes” which can be detected with a closer examination.
“Be still, and know that I am God. I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth!”
Psalm 46:10
A very unique and almost eerie winter sun peeping through the fog one morning last week.
Spiders are always at work, even in the “off season.” A close look reveals their webs. But with even a closer exam you will discover a bird in the pic. Anybody spot it? We would have a “find the bird” contest but our prize warehouse is empty.
A crepe myrtle winter!
Pam’s top 9 viewed Instagram posts for 2020.
EM makes it clear she is a girl who loves all things pink. Somehow that didn’t add up when she wanted a John Deere Gator. But when we saw her on it we realized it was an opportunity to deck out in pink from head to toe. I guess that balances everything out! Note also that little sister EK is not in the pic. She refuses to ride with big sister, and if you observed EM’s driving you would understand why! If sister won’t ride, then grab a blonde friend and give her no choice but to take a spin with you. At least the other passenger is in a cozy spot!
I know we have shown our snowball bushes in all seasons but they continue to provide interesting blooms year round. This seems to have about every phase of the flowering process going on. So far this winter we’ve not had anything else that resembles a snowball! Some parts of the state have seen a small amount of snow. Even enough to build a small, but real snowman!
I discovered squirrels have been feasting, using my outdoor seat cushion as their table. I must give them credit, this is a nice presentation. They really left it very neat and it appears had a nice variety. Looks like an appetizer and main course combined!
One of Pam’s all time favorite salads…shaved Brussels sprouts with hazelnuts, apples, pecorino, and lemon vinaigrette. Eating out has not occurred often in recent months so a chance to drop by Bottega’s patio last week was a treat.
A throw-way-back to 2012 and a place we really enjoyed, Visby, Sweden!
This old oak speaks loudly of winter and of a long life in the elements!
Wishing all of you a peaceful week.
“If we had no winter, the spring would not be so pleasant: if we did not sometimes taste of adversity, prosperity would not be so welcome.”

Good morning,my dears friends…Thank you for your always adorable and beautiful post. I love those Bible verses,I was needing them.Have a blessed Sunday.
Maristella, I am so glad the verses ministered to you. Blessings dear one~
I love your SSS posts. I’m so surprised they weren’t in the top posts of the year. EK not wanting to ride with Em is hilarious – from the looks of the Barbie, I can see why! Gorgeous nature photos. It took me opening the photo on desktop to spot the bird – looks as though he spilled from the urn! Happy Sunday!
Rita, they haven’t made the top 10, yet. But since Butch took over the commentary, it has really taken off. We love doing the post together, he has a keen eye and a unique style of writing. Have a great week my friend!
It looks so cold in those pictures! I especially like the sunrise in the fog. EM is smart, she has a Lilly Pulitzer look with her hot pink and green!! Be on the lookout…Tonight is a triple conjunction of Jupiter, Saturn, and Mercury. Look towards the western horizon within 45 minutes of sundown to view it. The skies have been amazing these past months. Our Bishop (who survived COVID and 11 days on a ventilator) commented on Christmas Eve that the great conjunction even had non-believers looking up towards heaven.
It has been very cold here, Roxanne. I am so glad your Bishop is improved and what a great thought!
EK looks very preppie in her pink and green “wheels!” So darned cute. And I think I will have to make that salad — it looks delicious and pretty easy! Happy New Week, you two!
I would drive the 60 miles back to pick up,the salad to bring home, it was that good!
This post captures winter perfectly! I laughed about the squirrel picture. I had some ornamental corn on the back porch left over from my fall decor, and they sat on top of my table and ate every last kernel. EM looks so pretty in all of her pink. That salad looks scrumptious, too! I hope you both have a wonderful week ahead! Take care!
The squirrels were so happy your provided a comfortable table to enjoy the meal you served them. Take care and enjoy your week, Shannon!
Happy Sunday Pam and Butch! Please turn the heat up please, Brrr! I always get nervous when the little ones go “driving,” EM with Barbie looks fearless on her John Deere, I’m glad the princess doesn’t want to ride with her! The Brussels salad sounds wonderful, I haven’t been to a restaurant since last March! Stay cozy this week…
Jenna
Stay warm, Jenna. The princess wants nothing to do with the gator. We have only been to Bottega’s outdoor dining and it is too cold to really enjoy!
Butch, I have decided you are very observant! I found the little bird but would not have seen it if you had not mentioned it.
The winter scenes are pretty in their own way. They are restful, calming, and peaceful.
I like your travel throwback pictures. I ‘m sure it is fun to reminisce as you decide which picture to include.
EM looks pretty on the John Deere. Aren’t you glad you saved it?
Thanks for the scriptures. What would we do without God’s words to us?
Have a great week.
Butch is very observant, he always sees things and points them out. Wishing you a lovely week, Bonnie!
Beautiful thoughts this morning, may we all have a peaceful week!
Thank you Carole!
I always enjoy your posts, dear friend, and especially when there are photos of the girls. Happy Sunday!
Thank you sweet friend!
A beautiful post that reminds us of the beauty that is present in the cold days of winter. The scripture is reassuring. EM is a beauty and it is a joy to see her. Love the photo of you two in Sweden. Blessings for a new week.
Thank you Dianne. Blessings on your week, my friend!
A beautiful post.. All such lovely photos but I know you won’t be surprised that my favorite is Ella Mae with her wheels. Be sure she is wearing pink when she has real wheels.
Have a lovely day and week ahead. Many blessings.❤
Thank you Sandra. Blessings on you week!
Pam and Butch, The winter pictures capture the season perfectly. The sky pic is beautiful. EM is ready to ride! She’s a girl on a mission. Barbie better hold on! EK is mature beyond her years although she is still quite young. The squirrels are quite industrious gathering their meal and presenting it tastefully. Sweden looks lovely. Will we ever get to travel overseas again? For us it will be a few years due to trying to be safe. We’d be happy to get to travel around the US at this point or dine in a restaurant. We’ve become quite adept at eating in the car and have come to enjoy it. We are blessed in so many ways. God is good and watching over us all. Have a wonderful day and week sweet friends. Clara ❤️
Thank you Clara for your sweet comments. They are always so encouraging. Stay safe my friend♥️
I loved the quote about if there was no winter, spring wouldn’t be so pleasant…I totally agree. Enjoy your blessed Sunday.
Thank you Karen. Wishing you a wonderful week!
A blessed Sabbath, dear Friends…. Pam that salad looks like a bouquet too beautiful to be
demolished. If the Queen’s first auto is not a pink Mustang, then something will have gone wrong with her plan. The photos and Scriptures this morning are uplifting and lend greater meaning to this day. Just loved the visual scavenger hunt and feel puffed with having found the
web and bird; prize enough in itself. Let us all continue to comfort and encourage one another
in His light and love.
Thank you dearest Mary. I would make the 60 mile trip just to eat the salad. Thank you for always encouraging me with your comments!
I can’t stop giggling about EK not wanting to ride with EM due to her wild rides. Barbie is as happy as a clam being safe in EM’s coat!
I really looked forward to your post this week. As your lovely captures and beautiful verses bring such peace to my heart… which is so needed this week.
Thank you!
Happy Sunday Friends!
Princess EK will not ride with the Queen, it cracks me up. Poor Barbie had no choice! Have a blessed week my friend!
Yep, I’ve always loved your flowers in the watering cans, Pam. Casual yet elegant. Winsome and unexpected and absolutely lovely!
Visiting here is always a chance to breathe deep and smile at how you share God’s creative gifts with us all.
Such a lovely post. Your little is so cute in the gator. We have a full size gator. The flowers are so pretty. They light up our world. Your throwback photo is wonderful. How I miss traveling. Enjoy the rest of your week Pam.
Thanks so much Linda. Wishing you a wonderful Thursday!
Psalm 46.10 is one of my favorites. And your photos express that so well through His creation.
What a lovely post, Pam! It’s nice to see such wholesome and sweet posts like yours. I enjoyed visiting with you today and I love the scriptures that you shared as well! Blessings to you and your family! 🙏🏾🤗
I love the quote at the end by Anne Bradstreet, and oh, that salad looks amazing! I would never have thought to shred brussel sprouts to make a salad! Such a wonderful post, as always. God bless you!
Thank you so much Cheryl. Many blessings ~
My iPad has been down so I’m late to this post but I must say the picture of you two is quite smashing, also as smashing as EM in her new coach. Still chuckling that EK won’t ride with her.
I am always happy to see you here, Alice. Thank you my dear!
Happy New Year to you both! I always enjoy looking through your pictures when I get the chance! Wishing you the best for 2021! 😉
Wishing you the best Elizabeth. Thank you for your visit!
