Happy February sweet friends. It seems that January flew by while I wasn’t looking! It is Monday Morning Blooms with my blogging friends and we are sharing a special Valentine’s Day edition!
“We love because he first loved us.”
1 John 4:19
Valentine’s Day is such a sweet treat tucked into the middle of winter. February could be a dreary month but instead it is very special to my Renaissance Man and myself as we share two romantic holidays, Valentine’s and our anniversary.
What would Valentine’s Day be without flowers?
The links for Shirley, Mary, and Lidy are at the bottom of this post. You will definitely want to enjoy their beautiful florals and Valentine’s inspiration.
Come in from the cold, the Sunshine Cottage is warm and cozy. I am so happy to have you join me for lovely flowers, delicious treats, and sweet conversation!
A vintage transferware pitcher holds roses, carnations, alstroemeria, baby’s breath, and eucalyptus in the expected colors of red, white, and pink. Did you notice the pitcher is resting upon a plate stack? I was inspired by an amazing tabletop stylist on Instagram, Suzanne Zing. You can follow her stunning gallery here. I chose graduated sizes of plates and placed floral foam between each plate to elevate and then filled in with preserved moss. It helps make a statement when your floral arrangement is small…I think I will be using this idea again!
You might remember a comment I made when I first shared the interior of Sunshine Cottage. My plan was to invite one friend every couple of weeks for coffee, a sweet treat, and fellowship. Unfortunately, that only happened once as our city has really been hit hard with Covid for the past three months. I am so hopeful that little dream of mine will one day happen!
What would Valentine’s Day be without lots of candy and especially chocolate?!
A heart plate is filled with Hershey’s lava kisses and milk chocolate kisses, Ghirardelli dark chocolate sea salt caramel duet hearts, white chocolate cheesecake M&M’s, fudge covered Oreos, and Hostess powdered sugar donuts. Have I mentioned I have a weakness for candy? I must confess I did eat a few of the props after I finished photographing…I know you understand the temptation was too much! I do have plans for all of the treats. I am making gift bags for EM, EK, and my Daddy.
It is a must to keep a jar available in the cottage for milk chocolate M&M’s Cupid’s mix! Who can resist a handful occasionally?
I am one of those who keeps cards, especially Valentine’s, anniversary, and birthday cards from RM! Cards from past Valentine’s were placed on the counter and shelves. I plan to bundle them with pink and red ribbon for Butch and me to untie and read together on Valentine’s Day!
A really special card was given a place of honor.
Looking through my linens, I chose this beautiful and romantic “artist garden” tablecloth by April Cornell. My favorite gold candle stands, flower books, a velvet heart wearing a crown, dried roses and seeded eucalyptus add to the English country style that I love. By the way, English country is making a big comeback according to many designers…it was never out of style for me. A cup of cappuccino is always perfect on a cold winter’s day!
“Love is patient and kind; love does not envy or boast; it is not arrogant or rude. It does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful;…
…it does not rejoice at wrongdoing, but rejoices with the truth.
Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.
Love never ends.”
1 Corinthians 13:4-8a

Oh we are in the Sunshine Cottage today…yay!….Thank you for taking us in your sweet cottage so that we can feel as though we are sitting down and having tea with you at that beautiful table you curated. The arrangement is truly the sweetest among your “sweets” Yes, you are right…English Country/Cottage making a comeback; however, I never felt it was ever “out of style”…..that style is classic with great abundance of beauty. I have boxes and boxes of cards from my hubby and family and those of special sentiments..happy to know that you are a sentimental one too..actually I knew that you are!….Hopefully you will have many visitors to your Sunshine Cottage and they will be so happy having tea with you! Love sharing our love of flowers with you and the wonderful women of Monday Morning Blooms. Have a fabulous day Pam!
Thank you Shirley. I am so hopeful that I can have friends for a visit in my little cottage. It has certainly been a bright spot over these past months! Wishing you a wonderful week!
Beautiful Pam! Your cottage makes such sweet and romantic setting to display your pretty cards and enjoy some flower therapy on a cold winter day. I love your stacked mossy plate pedestal for your vintage pitcher of pretty blooms! I know your grand girls and sweet dad will enjoy some goodie bags of Valentine treats. Thank you for sharing the link to Suzanne’s IG…so much eye candy. Happy February ♥
Thank you dear Mary. Will look forward to seeing you in the morning bright and early!
Pam, You are such a talented stylist. You have taken Suzanne’s idea and embellished it beautifully. I love the transferware pitcher and delicate Limoges plates. Your flowers are beautiful and look so pretty on the April Cornell “artist garden” tablecloth.
The sunshine coming in the window made a lovely photo of your romantic and beautiful table.
Thank you for the uplifting and convicting scriptures.
Have a beautiful week. It’s really cold today here.
You are always so sweet Bonnie. Looking forward to joining you tomorrow. It was really cold here today with strong winds all day!
What a SWEET post to read this morning dear Pam. I love all of your Valentine pretties and especially your flowers. So sweet of you to make up goody bags for everyone like that. I know they will all appreciate them so very much. I do pray that your dream comes true and that you can entertain in your lovely cottage. GOD IS SURELY LOVE and He loves you so very much.. Hugs and blessings, Cindy
Thank you Cindy and yes God is love ♥️ Hugs~
Oh Pam, this was the perfect spot of color and love to see on this gloomy morning! Every inch is a feast for the eye. The plate stack is a brilliant idea, and I love mixing all the reds and pinks. All the beautiful, sentimental valentines set a romantic feel for Sunshine Cottage. Thank you for reminding us that love is patient and kind, we all need to remember that now especially. (Are you watching All Creatures Great and Small on PBS…one of my very favorite book series – dreaming of a drive through the Yorkshire Dales)
Roxanne, I am sorry to say I haven’t seen the PBS series 🙁 it sounds lovely! Thank you for your delightful visit as always!
Hi!!!!!! Wow…saw those powdered sugar donuts and just about cried. I have been craving them. Sometimes you just want…nay, NEED something from your childhood that emotes pleasant memories.
I’m familiar with Suzanne Zing on Instagram. She has some really great ideas, one of which you put to excellent use here. Your pretty flowers have been literally elevated to a higher status! Kinda like when a woman slips into high heels!👠 You know how our legs look longer and leaner, we stand a little straighter, and our walk is transformed into more of a heavenly glide…or so my husband says!🤣
You’re all ready to celebrate! Do so with gusto!!!! Happy anniversary to you both!!!!!!!💞
Alycia, I love the high heel analogy and your husband’s heavenly glide comment 🤗 Thanks so much for your sweet comments. Enjoy your week!
This is the sweetest post I have ever read! I must know the outcome of untying the ribbons from the saved cards. My heart melts.
Thank you my friend ♥️
I love the look of the stacked plates with the moss! Beautiful as always.
Thanks so much Penny!
I am just thinking about all the LOVE you have put into creating this masterpiece. Such beauty and words to live by. Your new creation with your plate stack is so beautiful. The cards full of meaning add so much to this beautiful display. I always love seeing those beautiful candlesticks. Bob and I also have an anniversary in February. Love reigns in the Sunshine Cottage. How I would love to be a guest! English country at its very best!
Thank you Dianne. I remembered you have a February anniversary. Any special plans this year? I guess we will be staying home. Blessings ~
I love your flower combo Pam, pink, red and white blooms look so fabulous together, and I adore the beautiful pitcher on the plate stack with moss, just lovely! The Sunshine Cottage is all decked out for the Valentine holiday, and I do hope you will have many little tea parties and visits with friends soon. The cards look so pretty, such wonderful memories for you to enjoy again and again! You have brightened this cold gray Monday! ❤️
Jenna, it has really been a cold day. I do have a lot of fun changing seasonal decor in the cottage. Hopefully, I can have friends visit this year!
Love your table for two. Your Sunshine Cottage is so cute.
Thank you Della!
Oh Pam, this is all so absolutely gorgeous! Your flowers are so beautiful, and that tip you shared with the plates and moss is brilliant! Thanks for sharing. Those treats look scrumptious, and I must confess I have had a handful or two of Valentine M & M’s. I couldn’t resist putting them on my grocery order. I love how you collect and display all of your pretty Valentine cards, and what a special tradition to read them on that special day. You know I adore English Country! It is one of my favorites! I say it’s a classic and is always in style. I so enjoyed my visit to Sunshine Cottage this morning. I hope you have a most beautiful day, dear friend!
Shannon, thank you for your lovely visit. Wouldn’t it be fun to share a cup of tea and have plenty of time for conversation?
So much beauty, Pam. You have the gift of such attention to detail and it shows. 🙂
Thank you Stacey for your sweet encouragement!
Oh, Pam, a virtual visit to your Sunshine Cottage is the next best thing to being there! What a creative display of the flowers on the moss-tucked plate stack! You know I am right there with you on the sweet treats, as would Mr. P. be…..in fact, I have my own little heart dishes full of sweets that make passing by very difficult. We are both guilty! This is a very nice welcome to February. I love your Monday morning blooms posts.
Thank you Rita. I should not have bought all the candy, it is constantly calling my name. Ugh!!
Valentine’s at its best! I’m sitting here wishing I could get in the car and drive to the Sunshine Cottage and enjoy a cup of tea with you. Oh well, we have to dream. Hope you have a lovely week.
Thank you Bobbi, what a lovely thought! I would love for you to join me ♥️
Thanks, now you have inspired me, love the choices and the use of moss, the stacking of plates, transferware. Most of all though, I will now dig out my saved Valentine cards and use in my display. Sweet.
I am so glad you were inspired, Donna! Retrieve those saved Valentines and display them ♥️
Beautiful Pam and so romantic! I love the plate stack and moss….perfect! And being the romantic that I am, thinking of the past Valentine’s Day cards makes my heart ache in a good way.
I keep all my cards, (I think I am a hoarder) and they are in a box marked “Heart Aches”…why? because my heart aches as I read and re-read them, which I often do.
The Sunshine Cottage is so beautiful as you transform it with the seasons. What a way to start this new month of February. (I send birthday and anniversary cards out on the first of each month to family & friends…altho I missed last year…and now I will think of you and your sweetheart on this day!
I love your verses…so much so that the Captain and I had our Pastor read 1 Corinthians 13 at our wedding many years ago.
Happy Anniversary to you and Butch
Love
Kari
Kari, you are such a sweetheart. I love 1 Corinthians 13, a beautiful chapter for any occasion but so special for a wedding! I get all teary-eyed reading Valentines from years past. Thank you for your warm wishes my friend!
Good morning Pam, The plate stack using the moss makes a lovely elevated presentation. The flowers and your lovely tablecloth match perfectly. Your angled heart shaped plates will be an idea I shall use in the future. The tablecloth is such a pretty color and the candlesticks are a favorite. The cottage is just gorgeous and so inviting! We miss our gatherings with friends too. Visiting over the phone is not the same but has to do for now. Thank you for inviting us into your sweet sanctuary. Happy Monday! Clara❤️
Clara, I so hope we will be able to gather with friends. I have really missed the fellowship around the table. Thank you and sending hugs ♥️
I got excited just seeing the title of this post! It’s darling Pam! Everything works together so nicely (adore that tablecloth!) and it looks like you are ready whenever a guest can come. It will happen. But we all miss that. (I don’t blame you for eating the props — I would, too!)
Thanks Jeanie. I will have to buy more candy for my gift bags, I am eating the candy every time I pass by it!
Love is in the air at Sunshine Cottage! What a beautiful plate stack with your gorgeous flowers and that lovely transferware pitcher! I have started collecting some transferware out at that LakeHouse. So I’m in love with your centerpiece!
I’m familiar with Suzzane on IG. She does share lovely styles. And so do YOU!
HAPPY MONDAY my dear friend!
Nancy, I want to collect more transferware. Thank you dear one! Have a lovely week!
Good afternoon, Pam. My day has totally gotten away from me. But what a treat I have just enjoyed reading your lovely post. Your table is so pretty and you will have your friends to visit you and your cottage soon. Surely the vaccine will make a difference. All your photos are lovely, but the last one is my favorite.
Take care, sweet friend and know you and your blog are so appreciated by me and many others. Have a wonderful week.
Sandra, time gets away so quickly. Thank you for your sweet comments ♥️
Pam, moss in between the plates is brilliant! I’ve pinned twice from this post:)
Thanks so much for pinning!
Pam, I love seeing the many beautiful ways you’ve decorated your Sunshine Cottage; such a cozy place to unwind. I save cards that have been meaningful to me ( it’s good we have a large basement lol!), so I love seeing the sentimental ones you’ve displayed. Our sweet granddaughter was born on Valentine’s Day, so that day has become even more wonderful for us. Hugs!
A Valentine’s birthday is so special ♥️ Thank you Bobbi!
Such beauty and inspiration…Fabulous tablescape…Balm to the soul!
Maristella, thank you dear one!
i love the look of red, white, and pink flowers together … especially in that fabulous transferware pitcher! So serendipitously arranged in such a lovely setting.

You are a sweetheart, Linda and thank you!
It is all just so beautiful! Happy Anniversary and Happy Valentine’s Day!
Thank you dear one!
I hope you get to have your tea party with the ladies soon! What a beautiful table! I love all the moss
Thank you for taking us in your darling cottage, I feel like we’re having tea with you today! Your flowers are so pretty Pam, everything looks so beautifully arranged. I agree, the classic look of English Country is always “in” and always timeless. I too have boxes of special cards from the people I love, I will get some out and put them on display too- thank you for the inspiration. : ) It’s always a blessing to share our Monday Morning Blooms with you, friend. xo
Thank you Lidy. Blessings always sweet lady!
Pam, I’m glad your granddaughters allowed Butch into the sunshine cottage for a little romance. Happy Anniversary!
Thank you Sandra. Happy Valentine’s Day!
This is the most beautiful Valentine’s table Pam. I would love to share it on my weekly blog post Saturday. Pinned! Thank you for sharing at Charming Homes and Gardens.
Thank you and would love for you to share, Kim!
Pam, it’s a treat to be in your Sunshine Cottage for Valentine’s. Your table is filled with the delights, and the flowers are a perfect mix. Like you, I save cads too! Not only are they beautiful, it’s fun to look back. Using the moss between plate is a clever idea. Suzanne is one of my besties. She inspires with every post, and I have learned so much from her. Suzanne is an amazing talent! Happy Valentine’s Day to you and your guy!
Thank you Sarah for your sweet comments. Wishing you and the Chef a Happy Valentine’s!
Sweet and sentimental, a lovely way to enjoy the upcoming holiday as well as your anniversary.
Thanks so much Karen. Happy Monday!
