Happy Tuesday sweet friends. I wasn’t planning a tablescape this week, but yesterday I decided I would see what I could pull together!
“Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable in your sight, O Lord, my rock and my redeemer.”
Psalm 19:14
Before we start thinking about all things spring, and yes bloggers are always way out in front of the next season, I thought of these “winter fauna” salad plates that I hadn’t used in a couple of years.
You might call this a quick and easy tablesetting! The burlap runner was already on the table. It gives the more formal table a casual feel, and I like that! Removing the dried hydrangeas, I placed a wooden cake stand in the center. Apples and oranges made a quick and easy centerpiece with no arranging needed. Flanking the fruit are two birch bark vases that would normally hold flowers, but I had none. I took a walk in the garden to see what I might find…rosemary and blush nandina came to the rescue.
Once I had decided on the salad plates, I knew I wanted to use the faux cedar placemats. The placemats rest upon chippy chargers and Spode “blue room” dinner plates complete the stack. Twig flatware seems appropriate for a winter table.
The “winter fauna” plates with their pine branches and vivid birds bring the crispness of a winter scene to the table. I purchased these from Pottery Barn several years ago, but they are no longer available.
Cardinals are regular visitors to our garden with their bright red plumage standing out against the gray of winter!
Kate Spade napkins and “sweet swirl” iced tea glasses by Noritake complete each place setting.
“How many lessons of faith and beauty we should lose, if there were no winter in our year.”
-Thomas Wentworth Higginson
“A word fitly spoken is like apples of gold in a setting of silver.”
Proverbs 25:11
I was smitten when I saw the gnarly bark of a birch tree fashioned into a vase. I brought two of these home from Highlands, NC a few years ago.
Thank you for joining me for a quick and easy tablescape. Hopefully you picked up an idea or two. Wishing you a delightful day!

Good morning…. beautiful, beautiful, just beautiful. Those placemats are amazing. May I ask where did you find them. I am brand new to your blog so if you have them listed somewhere please excuse my “ newness”…….
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Good morning Jaci. Welcome and I am so thrilled that you found Everyday Living. The placemats were ordered from Pier 1 last year. I am not sure they still have them, but you can check their website. I ordered right after Christmas and got them half off. Wishing you a wonderful Tuesday!
Jaci says
Thank you Pam for the reply and information. ohhh I love Pier One. They have the cutest tables-cape accessories. I will go “shop” later today. Again thank you.

You are most welcome.

Pam, what a beautiful wintry tablescape! It says February perfectly. After everyone rushing into Christmas by October, I’m just not ready for Spring. Every season has its own beauty, and I am really enjoying being home and just “piddling”. Your quotation from Thomas Higginson says it all.
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Roxanne, I want to enjoy each season. Winter is a respite from the hurry…I am a fan of “piddling”.
Stacy says
This might be my favorite tablescape! I’ve had a hard time “wintering” this year but your display reminded me of my childhood spent playing in the woods and why I love the beautiful bare, textures of the season. Thank you!
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Thank you Stacy. I understand the hard time of “wintering” especially this year. Blessings~

Lovely winter table! The fresh fruit adds great color. Love those plates.
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Thanks so much Penny. Have a lovely day!

I sure do agree with the Higginson quote. I dread to see winter end. I know I am a strange one, as most people can’t wait until Spring! But, each year, I feel a sense of loss when winter leaves because it is just such a special time in our family. My favorite part of the year begins in early September around my birthday when I start feeling that “change in the air,” then Thanksgiving, Christmas, Zach’s birthday, New Years, then Kevin’s birthday in early February. It has been hitting me how much I will miss the snow, too, when spring comes. I absolutely love looking out the windows and seeing it all over the ground like a soft, comforting blanket. But, time marches on, and each season certainly has its own unique element of special. Thank God for each day and season of life, and may it bring brighter days in more ways than one in our nation. God bless you, sweet friend.
Pam @ Everyday Living says
I also enjoy winter. With all of your family celebrations, it sure makes winter exciting. I would so enjoy one snowfall this year. So far, not one snowflake!
Liz says
Beautiful Pam! Artfully displayed and I love those dishes! I’m staring at a cardinal right now out in a tree. They do bring joy seeing them!
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Thank you Liz. Birds are such a bright spot on winter days!

It’s so nice that you’re able to go outside! Here in the Kansas City, MO area it is currently 7 degrees with a wind chill index of -7. We’re expecting an ACTUAL temperature of -10 this weekend which will plunge wind chills to unfathomable lows.🥶 I love Kansas City, but I do NOT love this winter weather!!! 💨 ❄️ That being said, your tablescape is absolutely perfect! Those vases are really cool! I have birch bark vases, but none with that kind of “gnarly” form. That really adds to the look! And how cool is it that you can go outside and snip rosemary at this time of year?!!!!?!?!?!!
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Alycia, that weather sounds brutal. Stay warm and cozy inside. Thank you for your wonderful visit!
Carole @ From My Carolina Home says
I love this beautiful winter table. I don’t like to rush the seasons, taking each one in its time and full measure.
Pam @ Everyday Living says
I agree about not rushing the seasons. Thank you Carole!

I love this Pam! The fruit looks amazing, such a big pop of color to compliment the pretty bird plates~Mother Nature makes up for dreary winter days with citrus being in it’s height this season. The birch bark vases are unique and beautiful, and the faux cedar place mats are wonderful … all the natural and simple elements combine to make a beautiful winter scene, and the deep blue glasses and napkins really make everything pop! Enjoy the warmer temps today!

Your table is so pretty, Pam. The fresh fruit is so pretty the way you arranged it. I love the bird plates because I love birds so much and the cedar placemats and twiggy flatware were perfect with your tablescape. And your birch vase added just the right touch too.
I think we are going to float away it has rained so much.
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Thanks so much Bonnie. It was last minute, and so easy!
Rita C. says
Perfect seasonal table for right now! We are looking at some kind of winter storm warning, not sure if it will be snow and ice or just rain and ice right now. Your table is very fitting with the bare trees and birds scampering about. Those birch flower vases are nice!
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Thank you Rita. I was wondering if you would get the storm. Hopefully it won’t be ice, it is so damaging.
Mary says
Pam, I have the same set of winter fauna plates and love them. Love them layered with your faux cedar and blue Spode and your pretty birch bark vases too. ♥

Oh, wow! I had not seen these bird plates before! They are beautiful! Isn’t it a shame that PB discontinued them? I also love the twig flatware that I keep telling myself I’m going to get soon. And the blue “wakes” everything up and just makes this a delightful table!
