Did you set your clock ahead last night? If not you are late! I do enjoy these longer days. Day and night are equal next Saturday.
“For everything there is a season, and a time for every matter under heaven:”
Ecclesiastes 3:1
In only a few weeks this view of Weiss Lake from this spot on Lookout Mountain will disappear as leaves will soon arrive for another growing season!
I kinda gave the Bradford pears a hard time last week because of the fact that most of those we see in the countryside are those thorny rogues versions. But they really do brighten up the late winter landscape. An observation…those that have come up on their own seem to bloom earlier than the ornamental nursery plants that have been growing a long time. This pic is an older tree that was planted by humans, not birds. This was not quite a week ago and the buds were just starting to break out.
A few sunny, 70+ degree days turn intricate buds into beautiful flowering clusters. There are no stickers on this tree even though some of the new leafing sprouts are pointed and look like thorns. But there is something present on this main limb surrounded by blooms that I almost didn’t notice which was planted by birds…mistletoe!
Let’s give credit where it is due…these blossoms are really gorgeous! This is the same limb that’s in a previous pic with only buds…only 4 days later!
Someone couldn’t quite “cut the mustard”. And we are glad they didn’t because it left a beautiful display of yellow which required no maintaining through the winter! Just leave it alone and wait on late February or early March…
…and enjoy some beauty without any fuss!
Ella Mae helped PJ decorate the Sunshine Cottage for spring and they focused on Easter! Not shown here, but EM directed me to the first thing they put out on another table…a cross!
Princess Emma Kennedy decided to leave the decorating to the other girls. Why do all that work when you could be playing with toys (and drinking chocolate milk – not shown either)! I get in trouble for keeping chocolate milk around for the girls.
I spotted this last week and really wondered about the stories and activities that might have been brought about by the use of the building. I am normally quite shy and would not think of stopping and asking questions. But I did pull in the nearest driveway with the intention of finding out what I could. No one was home. Maybe I will try again!
Another showy early bloomer that has a lot of common names…tulip tree, tulip poplar, saucer magnolia, and a few others we’ve heard. This is actually a very popular garden or landscape tree and it is a magnolia. It gets confusing because another Magnolia family tree native to our area is more commonly called tulip tree. That tree will soon have tulip like flowers as well, just not as colorful!
There are numerous varieties and hybrids of this magnolia and we understand some have blooms a much as 10 inches across. We have not had success with this tree as deer demolished another one this season and continue to enjoy them more than we do!
Going back to 2013 and a birds eye view of an awesome harbor…Montenegro.
I took a short hike among the rocks on the mountain not far from home late Friday. It was such a nice day I couldn’t help myself.
I was surprised to have this section of the trail all to myself on a 77 degree late afternoon with the weekend arriving!
I had never seen a forsythia until a few years ago, at least I thought I hadn’t. I grew up with yellow bells (maybe belles here in the south) but forsythia? My grandmother would’ve never allowed us to call this forsythia. She would likely think we were using bad language we had picked up at school!
Hoping you have a blessed week!

This is a nice preview to what I’ll soon see in our neighborhoods! I’ve been watching the forsythia, Bradford pears and tulip magnolias…..all just now budding, no blooms. I do love the blooms, but the Bradford pears have an odor that I don’t like!
I love seeing the girls. EM looks like an interior designer dressed to the nines for her photo shoot of her work. 😉 EK’s got a sweet look on her face that’s got all the feels. ♥
Butch’s hike looks like a great one. I love having trails all to ourselves. Have a great week, all of you!

Thank you Rita. Ella Mae helped me decorate, it is so funny that she has a strong opinion of what she likes. I don’t dare move something, she will quickly notice it. Have a lovely week!

Good morning! Love all your photos of flowering trees, fields, and rocks.
Would you believe I had tiny green leaves on my lime light hydrangea after pruning it the week before?
Our water oak trees are a mass of yellow leaves soon to dump tons of leaves. People are putting out fresh pine straw but I know better to wait until the leaves have fallen. It seems early this year. My azaleas have blooms showing color too.
I am sorry I missed visiting last week. I had my Texas grands arriving and I had so much to do. It was a beautiful week in every way.
The girls are growing so quickly. They are both so pretty.
Have a blessed week.

Bonnie, I know your time spent with your family was a wonderful blessing. It is amazing how much quicker spring arrives for you! Enjoy your day!

Pam, I love the photos of the girls; they are growing up so fast. Mike and I are in GA this weekend for Mary Grace’s 16th birthday celebration. It is amazing that she is 16 already. Love to all.
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Thank you dear one. I saw and commented on Mary Grace’s 16th birthday. How is that possible? Enjoy your time with the girls! Love to all of you!

Nice walk Butch. Wish I was there to wake up to blue skies and flowering trees but instead woke up to a foot of snow and it’s still snowing! Why can’t our government here our plea to keep daylight savings time? Are they not elected to do our bidding? More “light” is what our world needs. Would love to place with Pam, EM and EK in the sunshine cottage. Shave a blessed week.
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Alice, I wish you could join the girls and me in the Sunshine Cottage. Wishing spring for you very soon!
Roxanne Bernard says
Blessed Sunday Butch and Pam! It is amazing how quickly spring is unfolding, as your pictures show! I just went in the garage and interrupted two Carolina wrens building a nest. And I have a Canadian goose couple wandering around the yard, looking for a nesting site! A good friend dropped off huge transplants yesterday of purple Lenten roses (hellebores); last summer he planted yellow ones in my flower bed that have bloomed nonstop. The girls are growing faster than the flowers in the garden, so precious!
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Roxanne, I love Lenten roses and I know you are enjoying the blooms. Thank you for your sweet comments. Have a lovely Sunday!

It’s beautiful and happy in your world. Ella Mae’s hair has grown so long! I love the cottage decor and hope we get a full tour. You remind me that although I’d done a bit of spring thing here I’ve yet to go the whole Easter. Maybe today would be perfect for that!
And soon my trees at the ditch will fill in and the views will be a bit more constricted. I hope I see the deer before they go under the foliage! What a lovely Sunday post with your cheery pinks and color and glorious mustard. Love this one a lot.
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Thanks so much, Jeanie. I plan on sharing the Sunshine Cottage dressed for Easter. Ella Mae helped me decorate, she has a strong opinion on her likes! Happy Sunday!

Pam and Butch, The blooms are beautiful! We had warmer weather this past week and we’re seeing forsythia, tulip magnolias, and daffodils blooming. We’re enjoying it! The girls are adorable in their cute dresses! They are precious! The Sunshine Cottage looks ready for Easter. I did our Easter decorating this past week. Montenegro looks interesting. We’ve never been there but the inlet is beautiful. Enjoy your week! Clara ❤️
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Thanks so much Clara. I am so glad that spring is arriving at your house after your terrible weather a few weeks ago. Enjoy your day ♥️
Carole @ From My Carolina Home says
Beautiful photos this week. I have been meaning to plant some forsythias in a couple of bare spots where I took out some damaged azaleas a few years back. Maybe I’ll get to that this year.
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Thank you and enjoy your Sunday, Carole!

I love driving around seeing the Bradford pear trees literally change overnight and fill the sky with growing white blooms. I love Tulip trees too, Spring is in full swing around here! Last night we dined on the patio and it was much too warm to light the fire, so nice after the freezing weather we’ve had. I look forward to seeing the Sunshine Cottage decked out for Easter…enjoy this beautiful Sunday before the rains come this week!

Good morning, Butch and Pam. Such a lovely post. Goodness, you area is way ahead of us. But we catching up, our King Alfred daffodils opened yesterday and it now feels like spring. I enjoyed seeing the mistletoe on the pear tree. In Virginia it would grow on the maples. Mike would cut it for Christmas.
Our neighbors have a gorgeous forsythia that is outside our kitchen window, what a treat it for us to enjoy when it blooms. I’ll be looking forward to seeing Sunshine Cottage dressed in her Easter finest. What fun for you and those precious girls. Have a lovely day and week ahead, my friend.❤
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Thanks so much Sandra. With warm temps last week, spring really came out in full force. Enjoy your week, my friend ♥️
Heritage Hall says
So what did Pam and Butch do about that mistletoe overhead? It doesn’t have to be Christmastide….
Those rock formations along the hiking trail are intriguing. Great photography throughout.
The girls look so darling enjoying the results of decorating for Easter with Grandma…They are
growing in leaps and bounds, bless them. Our largest Bradford Pear has become spindly
and will eventually have to be removed, but its blossoms are so profuse and lovely that I
hesitate, but know one of these days……. A blessed Sabbath to all….
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Aw, Mary are you really asking 🥰 Thanks so much for your sweet comments my friend!

Beautiful post, enjoyed seeing all the spring pictures and those lovely granddaughter’s brought a smile to my face! 😉 Yes we did set our time so we were on time for church service, but I remember one year we did indeed forgot and we showed up an hour late! Lol! I also love the longer days. Have a blessed week Pam!
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Thank you so much Elizabeth. Wishing you a blessed week!

Dear friend, what surprised me the most when I saw your publication is the temperature that you say is 70º F … which is about 20º C. Well, that would be a luxury, for now we have 9ºC and tonight 2ºC … It is very cold … But spring is knocking at the door and I hope it will be beneficial for us.
I like to see everything you show because most of the plants I don’t know personally, don’t forget that I live in the city, with a garden, but it’s not the same.
I love your post because I learn a lot about the plants that I love.
Of the girls What to say! They are beautiful … they are both very beautiful, I love them …
Well, I hope that from now on I can make my life normal. I have already settled in my house. I have to stay a little longer at the physiotherapist but I’m going to Madrid and coming home, it’s only 20 km, but I already manage well on my own.
A hug
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Querida Dolores, ¡siempre espero tus visitas conmigo!
Mandando abrazos,
Pam

Oh Pam, you’ve brought springtime in by the bushel! It’ll be awhile ’til we spot it way out here in the East, but I know you’ll be faithful in continuing to share God’s beauty with us …
So grateful for your beautiful heart that prompts all you do, friend.
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Thank you dearest Linda for your sweet and encouraging comments.

Queen Ella sure does look pretty in the Sunshine Cottage. And Princess Emma is such a sweetheart as well.
The blooms are stunning in your neck of the woods! The forsythia is something I miss in Pennsylvania. We have loads of it at the LakeHouse but we get back there too late!
Thanks for taking us on a walk with you.
Pam @ Everyday Living says
I am so glad you could visit with us. Blessings ~

That is so sweet that Ella Mae pointed you to the cross. And kudos to you for keeping the chocolate milk around! They are only little once, and a little chocolate milk never hurt anyone! God bless you and your family.
