“Charm is deceitful, and beauty is vain, but a woman who fears the Lord is to be praised.”
Proverbs 31:30
Happy Mother’s Day to Moms everywhere! We wanted to present each of you flowers, but due to limits of time and space, we are hoping this is the next best thing! Enjoy these peonies.
I spent yesterday planting zinnias, sunflowers and other seeds (finally). As I studied the seed beds, my thoughts were about what might be needed to supplement the soil in order to get good germination and maximum growth. While doing so, this thought occurred to me…the most fertile place for love to grow is in a Mother’s heart!
Pam often (almost daily) shares with me precious thoughts and sweet memories of her Mother. She remains close to her heart as a Mother’s love never fades and is never far away!
We try to use one throwback pic most Sundays, but a lot of pics on today’s post have been around a few years. Pam is doing her best to console Seth by letting him know he is leaving the hospital and heading home but he doesn’t seem to care for the idea! December, 1985.
“For this child I prayed, and the Lord has granted me my petition that I made to him.”
1 Samuel 1:27
He is a bit happier here!
My pretty Mom, sometime in the 1940’s. She was Doris Kennedy. We now have our princess Emma Kennedy.
My thoughts were to add nice color to your day and leave my usual “name that plant” and other info for another Sunday!
Do you use old barrels as planters? I like them but they are quite expensive!
Pam’s mother was a beautiful example of a Proverbs 31 woman. Strength and dignity were her clothing. Her children and grandchildren rise up and call her blessed. Her husband praises her. The way she lived her life continues to impact people fourteen years later. It is a reminder that the way we live our life matters…every single day we are given will echo into eternity.
“A Mother’s hug lasts long after she lets go”
-unknown
These wildflowers are all growing right around the house and provide a nice Mother’s Day bouquet without costing one penny! Maybe a little sneezing but otherwise…a real bargain.
We pray your Mother’s Day is as sweet as this dessert! Pam’s mom had this pound cake recipe and made it often. No one can make it quite like she did. She had that special touch when it comes to food. Food is so much better when love is one of the ingredients!
”Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever”.

A beautiful post, Butch. Your heart is showing here too. What a nice tribute to Pam, your mother, and Pam’s mother. I love the picture of your Mom. The forties style was so elegant.
Today, is Mike’s mothers birthday and he just mentioned to me that today is the first mother’s day for him without a mother.
The flower you mentioned to name is one of my favorites called foxgloves. I have some blooming now and I love them.
The strawberry pound cake is beautiful. I’ll be thinking of it all day and wishing for a piece.
I pinned the first picture and the quote graphic. Very nice.
Hope y’all are feeling better. Take care.

Happy Mother’s Day, Pam! And how glorious to have a new grand baby on this special day. Both of your mothers were so beautiful, and from what you’ve said many times…inside and outside. I miss my parents every single day but I know one day we will all be reunited. My mother’s handwritten recipe cards are amongst my most treasured possessions and no, I’ve never been able to duplicate them as well either. 💕

Wishing you a sweet day of memories, Roxanne! Thank you my friend!

A beautiful tribute to the mothers in your life. I, too, had a godly mother who taught by example by her good deeds and love for others. She was a great cook and loved to share with others. She was known for her brownies and no, I cannot make them like hers. Have a blessed Mother’s day and week.

Pam and Butch, do hope you are feeling closer to recovery…the ramifications of ’20-21 will cling to our days for awhile, but we will emerge stronger and wiser. The photos of your Moms are such a sweet reminder of their loving influence in your lives, even to this day. There is no estimate of such influence, so far reaching does it embrace those who knew such a Mother’s love. Best tribute we can pay is to imitate to the best of our ability the virtuous lives they lived and modeled for us. Thank you
for this joyful post, heartfelt and inspiring.

A beautiful and touching post, Butch. The flowers are all beautiful, but your words of praise for the women in your life are even more beautiful. What a blessing you and all of the family have been to me and Tara for more than forty-five years, and Mike and the rest of our family for many years. Love to you, Pam, and all, and congratulations on that precious grandson, Wyatt.

Aw, what a sweet post! I love this quote you said, “every single day we are given will echo into eternity.” So, so true, indeed. It was so nice to see the older photos of your mothers. I sure do miss mine, too, and how I long to talk to her and ask her to pray during these awful, perilous times we are living in. Then another part of me is grateful she and my Daddy are already safe home in Heaven, for I wouldn’t want them to have to witness our nation being flushed down the toilet and evil raging like it is. One day, we will all be there around the throne, and all will be well. God bless you all.
