“For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, declares the Lord. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts.”
Isaiah 55:8-9
Happy Sunday! With temps around 90 today and possibly mid-nineties coming tomorrow, I had to remind myself of something so I would not be whining and complaining. It has only been a short time since I was griping about the cold and late frost, wondering will it ever be warm. So, as I worked all day outside yesterday, I tried my best to remember that this was a day the Lord had made and I must rejoice and be glad in it!
We will feature triplets today, sisters sort of…spirea has become a favorite plant and we have 3 varieties blooming now. This one is called “Little Princess” (however EM and EK would argue that name)!
The variety we’ve had for 20 years is “Gold Mound”. I see we aren’t the only ones enjoying these blooms!
This spirea is thriving in a large container…a “Double Play Candy Corn”.
It’s party time. Ella Mae and Emma Kennedy don’t need an occasion to party but I do think they are celebrating having little brother home and outside with them. Wyatt is probably not all that interested in the festivities!
With a bloom that looks a bit similar to red clover (or is it my imagination), chives have a very unique and interesting flower!
One afternoon last week Pam discovered this hole in the middle of a bed that is thick with candy tuft. It had not been there the day before. For a little while it was a mystery as to what could be going on as there were maybe 2 or 3 possibilities. Pam sent me the pic and continued to wonder about it until about an hour later when she looked out and saw…
…these! Actually she saw a large mother rabbit and 6 little ones. Just the thing you wish to have living in your garden? When I arrived home we decided to get a closer look. Mama rabbit did not hang around when we approached but the little ones seemed to like our company…until I picked one up. They really know how to sound the alarm when scared and it brought mama out of hiding. I have never been attacked by a rabbit but she came right up to me! I set the little one down and they both quickly headed for cover. We want all of them to live happily ever after, just not in our garden!
How many bunnies do you see! Hint, we could not get the babies close enough together to get all in a pic, so there’s not 6.
These turkeys almost went unnoticed in the tall grass until a couple of look-outs stretched their necks to have a peek at the surroundings and I spotted them. The birds really aren’t fond of the taller grass in my opinion. With keen eyesight their number one defense, having an unobstructed view is safer. By the way, the one on the left is not a turkey, but unwanted thistle!
Blooms in our pumpkin patch??? Yes… last fall’s discarded pumpkins were placed by a brush pile at the edge of the yard and pumpkins have popped up all around. The plants won’t survive here, and even if they did, I am thinking pumpkins would mature much too early for the autumn season. Some years ago a gentleman that raises pumpkins in our area told me he planted in late May or early June. The only pumpkins we have ever raised were accidentals like these!
A throwback to a gorgeous garden, Charleston, SC, 2019.
A tree that is a southern native that I don’t think about often got my attention last week. The southern catalpa has a beautiful cluster of blooms and large showy leaves. As kids we always called them catawba trees or cigar trees because the beans that come later in the season look like long cigars. There were several of these trees in my grandparents neighborhood and I remember them well!
We wish you a great week. Looking forward to a holiday weekend coming up!

I love starting my Sunday with your blog. Thank you for the reminder of the scripture verse from Isaiah 55. I often have to remind myself whose thoughts and ways are better than mine.🥰 I always enjoy your pictures and especially when you include your grandchildren.
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Amen, Nancy. I have to remind myself also. Thank you for your sweet comments and happy Sunday!

Happy Weekend Pam and Butch! EK and EM are such cuties along with sweet baby Wyatt. Love seeing the adorable baby bunnies too but I can confirm that you don’t want them living in the garden! Wishing you a beautiful Sunday, stay cool. ♥
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Thank you Mary, it is going to be a hot one!

I love seeing all the grandkids together! Little Princess spirea was the variety I had in my landscape. What I also had were bunny clans…..they used my teak loungers as their pergolas! Those holes make for trip hazards and the pellet droppings are gross. I understand they expel 2 types – hard & soft, and digest the soft. There seemed to be plenty of the other in my garden. And I think you’re right on the birds not liking the high grass. It’s probably why we had such a problem with Canada geese – we kept our riverbank cut while some neighbors didn’t. In other words, we kept the salad bar full! Have a great week.
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Thank you Rita. The bunnies are cute but that is all. They have plenty of room without using our garden. Canada geese have overtaken our waterways in our city. They make a horrible mess! Wishing you a wonderful week!
Carole @ From My Carolina Home says
Those rabbits are just adorable!! You’ll need good fencing around your veggies now. Such pretty flowers today too. Have a sunshine filled day!
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Thank you Carole. It is going a hot and sunny day!

Happy Sunday Butch and Pam! What a sweet picture of the Princesses with the new prince! That is quite a family of hungry bunnies that adopted your beautiful garden. I have always said “Catawba” tree also. We have one right on the edge of our pond. Later in the summer, worms attack, strip the leaves, then fall in the water…the fish go crazy. Yesterday a family caught about 40 fish – crappie, bass, and blue gill – and went home planning a fish fry!
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Thank you Roxanne. I was reading your comments to Butch and he said fishermen like to use those worms for bait. Do you allow the public to fish your pond or just those you invite? I love to fry up crappie!
Roxanne Bernard says
Pam, people are always good about asking permission. We just ask them to clean up any mess and not ring our doorbell at 6 AM! Living out in the country in S.C. we see a lot of poverty, so we are happy to share with those around us.
Pam @ Everyday Living says
I am not surprised at your generosity. Blessings my friend!

There is never a dull moment in our gardens. The little bunnies are adorable but six hungry rabbits can do a lot of damage. Mike saw little fox on the golf course this morning as he walked. He sees them from time to time and it is nice he can enjoy them but not in our yard. He has killed two snakes in our garden already. He called them rat snakes. We still have moles and armadillos. The moles are driving me crazy.
The kids look so sweet. You are so blessed to have them close by. We leave for Texas to see ours Tuesday.
Our weather has been so nice and wish it could last but a hot week is ahead.
Nice Sunday post with interesting flora and fauna. Enjoy your Sunday.
Pam @ Everyday Living says
I wonder how golf courses are handling all the deer, rabbits, and everything imaginable! Sometimes, I just want to throw up my hands and tell all the animals, “YOU WIN!!!”
Thank you for your sweet comments. Enjoy your trip to see family and safe travels!

Love the entire post, Pam; beautiful. But the photo of the girls and Wyatt is absolutely precious. I know they are enjoying their new brother. Love to all.

Thanks my friend and love to you all!

Good morning Butch and Pam. You are so blessed with healthy and wonderful grandchildren. So much so that a family of bunnies came to live in your garden also. Although not wanted due to there habits of wanting to eat your pretty garden, they are so precious. And a mama rabbit that came up to you when you held one of her babies lets us know how precious all babies are to their mamas, human or animal. Mama rabbits would never abort her babies on purpose however. It’s been raining and cool here and the snakes are coming out of hiding. Lowell has killed two and seen several . Yuck! But as a reminder here in Co when the cool days go away the temps also will climb into the 90’s. Happy Sunday!
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Yes, that mama rabbit was not happy that Butch was holding one of her babies. God created that instinct in them just as he did humans. Our problem is sin.
I can’t stand snakes, they scare me. It is already a hot day in our Appalachian Foothills…Happy Sunday, Alice!
Alice Genzlinger says
PS I saw 3 baby bunnies.
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Alice, look again. Look close to the the little stool I sit on while weeding.

Good morning Pam and Butch. EM and EK and Wyatt are the most precious children in the garden but have to admit the bunnies are very sweet. I am learning lots of new things from your excellent history of these plants that are not so familiar to me. Enjoy the new week. Love and blessings to you.
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Thanks so much Dianne. Love and blessings to you my friend!

A beautiful post Pam and Butch. The respite of cooler weather is over for now. The heat is on and so is the A/C! Your garden is absolutely amazing. The bunny is cute but not in your lovely garden. The children are so cute! Ah, Charleston is a beautiful place we want to revisit now that we’re staying in the states for our travel it’s already on the list. That’s a pretty setting! Have a wonderful day! Clara ❤️
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Thanks so much Clara. Charleston and Savannah are both beautiful cities. We are trying to decide where to travel within our country. Yes, very hot and humid today. Have a lovely week ❤️

I just love Wyatt’s expression..”What’s all the fuss about a party? I’ve got my thumb – it’s enuff..” How those Princesses delight in him, lucky fella.Thank you for the beautiful Charleston garden…be still my heart. I spied 4 adorable bunnies – who could resist picking up a little one? Beware of protective Moms… Your scripture and floral photos lift the spirits and your memory lesson for dealing with the heat is a good one…lest we forget what we complained about in the opposite situation. A blessed Sabbath to all….
Pam @ Everyday Living says
You guessed correctly on the bunny number in the photo. Now we just need them to move along somewhere else. Blessings dear one…

Querida Dolores, me alegro mucho de que hayas vuelto. Te he echado de menos. Es una buena idea tomarse un descanso de la fisioterapia. Los días eran largos con tu tiempo de viaje de ida y vuelta. Orando para que continúes sanando. Espero ver nuevas publicaciones tuyas en el blog. Mandando abrazos!

I would kill to have bunnies in my garden. I love them (I’ve counted 17 so far this year!). They do seem to nibble on the hostas or maybe those are the deer but they seem to be leaving lettuce and spinach alone. Six, oh, and darling!
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Jeanie, we will gladly share our bunnies with you! Have a wonderful weeks!

Happy Sunday, Butch and Pam! I loved seeing all of your pretty spirea blooms. We just planted a few of the double candy corn spirea and are really enjoying them. We have lots of catalpa trees in our area, too. As a kid, we used to call them bean trees because of the green bean looking pods that they have. Wishing you both a happy and blessed week ahead!
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Thank you sweet Shannon. Enjoy your week my friend!

I can understand your reasonings about the bunnies, cute but not really welcomed in your garden. I can also understand the bunnies position, they are living in the most beautiful garden in the region. 😊
