Wishing You A Blessed Memorial Day Weekend!
“The Lord is high above all nations, and his glory above the heavens!”
Psalm 113:4
Memorials have always been an important part of the human experience, ensuring we never forget… we stand on foundations others have laid, built with grueling toil and ultimate sacrifice!
Through the years Pam has created many remarkable tables for all of us to enjoy. They have always given us pause and reflection, reminding us freedom as we know it is always under attack and should never be taken for granted! I am sharing a few of her tablescapes today in honor of this special weekend.
We are enjoying a little red, white, and blue on the Sunshine Cottage!
There are certain things that seem to be typical around Memorial Day. We will share a few of those today…like the season’s first cutting of hay.
“May we never forget freedom isn’t free.”

Queen Anne’s Lace is abundant in our pastures and along roadsides by Memorial Day. This plant grows wild in almost all of the lower 48. Is it blooming in your area?
Seen here are several stages of blooms. We’ve always noticed that at one point the blooms have a small red center. With a bit of imagination, I see white and blue also. I know, a little more lilac or lavender than blue, but close enough!
Our throwback this week is an invitation for you to check out our Queen Anne’s Lace post from 2020.
“Courage is almost a contradiction in terms. It means a strong desire to live taking the form of readiness to die.”
-G. K. Chesterson
And of course the ever present ditch lilies of late May and early June remind us that summer is very near. With nighttime temps this weekend in the upper 40’s however, it doesn’t feel much like summer! But no complaints.
“We don’t know them all, but we owe them all.”

Wild Black-eyed Susan’s are usually plentiful by Memorial Day and this year is no exception.
A patriotic sky!

I’m afraid our children aren’t being taught that freedom isn’t free. Lord help us if they ever have to experience it for themselves. Always love the pictures of the past. We don’t see day lilies in the ditches here or queen Ann’s lace but I love seeing yours. Brings back sweet memories. Have a blessed day and week. Happy Memorial Day!

I agree, Alice. Thank you so much. Blessings…

“We don’t know them all, but we owe them all.” Indeed, how true. With grateful hearts we acknowledge those too-young lives given that we may spend Memorial days in freedom with those we love. The photos capture the essence of a Patriot’s
song to us all….God bless America – long may she stand. Thank you Pam and Butch

A beautiful post. Had the song “Jesus is Coming Soon” on my mind this morning. . . freedom we hold so dear now is at stake. So much is taken for granted. So thankful for all who were willing and those who did give the ultimate sacrifice. Enjoy your Memorial Day and week.

Dear friends Pam and Butch, I am always excited by the publications on this very important and revered day in the USA. Also with a little “envy” of knowing how to remember those who defended the country. This has not been practiced in Spain for years, only particularly, because political leaders have not been patriots for years. It saddens me … because my family upbringing was a very different one. My father was a Commander in the land army and his education was simple, very sweet and with a lot of love for the country. This is already unknown …
A big hug in this celebration and everything you have shown is very beautiful.
With love
Dolores

Bendiciones y abrazos …
Con cariño,
Pam

Love the quotes and pictures. It is very sad how children are being taught. But their parents were taught the same thing or not taught anything about FREEDOM IN THE USA. I DO NOT LIKE WARS AT ALL!!!!….but if there is going to be wars I think the drafting again might just change people’s thoughts on FREEDOM. Unfortunately we have to experience bad sometimes to see the good???
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Nancy, we take our freedom for granted. Men and women have died for our freedom. We must pass it on to the next generation.

What beautiful Red, White and Blue at your place. The wreaths on Sunshine Cottage are beautiful! And each tablescape Pam makes are always so lovely!
You are a little bit earlier then we are here in Pennsylvania. All those blooms you shared come out closer to end of June around these parts. And hay is just being planted.
And “We don’t know them All but we owe them All!” We will never forget and we are very grateful!
Enjoy your weekend Holiday, Butch and Pam!
