Happy first day of June! It was a beautiful weekend with low humidity and highs only in the 70’s. We spent all day Saturday working in the garden and there is still more to do.
“Be exalted, O God, above the heavens! Let your glory be over all the earth!”
Psalm 108:5
It is a lovely morning to grab a cup of coffee and take a garden stroll!
This is the side entrance into the garden with a view of the Sunshine Cottage in the background. A pair of Sioux crape myrtles flank this entrance.
Vanilla strawberry hydrangeas surround the tuteur!
Beth’s blue star flower was planted in the pots on each side of the entrance. Its unique star-shaped lavender flowers and interesting texture with the extra bonus of no dead-heading is a win-win! It should bloom until frost, attracts bees, and repels deer and rabbits. The painted garden chair holds a pot of chocolate mint…delicious in sweet tea!
Last year Butch built the raised bed for his sunflowers. As you can see, it is quite long…32 feet! He has planted three varieties…so hopeful that our deer population won’t be attracted to the salad bar!
A very old lacecap hydrangea that isn’t in an ideal location continues to bloom after many years!
Renaissance Man built this raised bed a few years ago. The head gardener loves lantana. It will eventually fill in to surround “Rusty” our old iron statue. The upper part is planted with five different varieties of zinnias. This bed is on my today’s “to do list” for weeding!
After seeing my friend, Mary’s (Home Is Where the Boat Is) kinetic garden spinner, I began an on-line search! I was excited to find one I liked and received it within two days!
The girls are fascinated by it!
My first daylily to bloom is “bold awakening” which is an appropriate name!
I failed to get a photo of the daisy gardenias when they were in full bloom. They are mostly now spent, but their fragrance is still heavenly!
A pot of lavender makes me smile! Not to mention its lovely scent!
In case you missed a previous post, we found six baby rabbits and their mother in our garden. This baby sat very still, thinking I didn’t see it! So far, they are dining on clover. I imagine their palate will become a little more sophisticated in the near future.
I love coleus for their brilliant color! Colorblaze “wicked witch” features dark burgundy leaves with a ruffled edge outlined in chartreuse. It makes a showy presentation!
I shared this photo on a recent Simple + Southern Sunday post. You might have noticed a new fence…
…Butch decided to extend our garden fence to take in the cottage garden. We are still in the planning stages of the small space!
After a brief rain shower, the light was most unusual as the sun was setting and a misty fog was below the mountaintop. This gives you a view of the new fence and the opening where a gate will be installed once RM builds it.
Thank you for your visit and gracious comments. Wishing you a joy-filled week!

Happy June, Pam! Your gardens are looking gorgeous as always. Southern Living needs to come to your house and do a feature. The Beth’s Blue Star plants are so pretty. I have never seen them before. I’m going to look around and see if they will tolerate my area. They make such a lovely presentation in the clay pots. It has been unseasonably cool here too, and we have had way too much rain. Sone of my plants are not tolerating the over abundance of water too well. I’m hoping some warm sunshine will make an appearance soon! My dear friend, I wish you a most happy and blessed week ahead!
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Thank you, Shannon. I know you all have had so much rain, it is hard on gardens to be drowned. However, we are dry and need rain. Have a lovely day sweet friend!
Mary says
Beautiful Pam, love seeing your new spinner! I’m fascinated by them too, especially when we get blustery weather. Glad the bunnies are dining on clover and not your perennials so far! I love coleus too for their vigorous growth and bright foliage and planted some in my window boxes this spring. I hope your new fence will keep the deer away from your flowers. Happy June ♥
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Thank you Mary. I have been out in the garden early this morning and there are little rabbits everywhere. EM loves seeing them. Have a wonderful day!
Shirley @Housepitality Designs says
Oh how I love love your gorgeous gardens. Looks like Butch is in his glory as he enhances the gardens and hard scale. Love your new spinner. I bought one a couple of month’s ago and can’t wait for all the construction to be completed so we can install it!! Have a great week Pam!
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Thank you Shirley. I can’t wait for your patio reveal, I know it will be beautiful!

I too loved Mary’s Kinetic Spinner. And yours as well. My question, Why are they so pricey? I’m looking, hoping to find a great bargain.
The deer are using my limelight hydrangea for a snack. Gonna have to do something to stop them. What’s your go to remedy?
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Mildred, I searched and didn’t find an inexpensive one. I hope you find a bargain. Deer are extremely difficult to control. They munched on my mop heads in my front landscape. Best of luck! Have a lovely day!
Carole @ From My Carolina Home says
Love seeing your gorgeous garden. I love that kinetic art too! There’s a spectacular one near a restaurant we go to, and it is just fascinating to watch.
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Thank you Carole! Enjoy your day.

Good morning Pam! Your garden is beautiful and thriving. Love the fence. Butch always does such a great job. That little bunny is cute and he’ll soon be trying to get through the fence even though there’s plenty of clover! Hopefully they will cooperate and stay in their section ( I know I am daydreaming). Our hydrangea is in bloom as the deer fencing stayed in place from last year. I really missed having blooms last year. Enjoy your week! Clara❤️
Pam @ Everyday Living says
I am so glad your hydrangeas are blooming and the deer fencing stayed in place. Thank you Clara ♥️

Perfect weather for gardening last weekend, and wow, your garden is glorious as usual! I can’t wait to see the sunflowers growing in that new 32′ bed! The side entrance to your garden with the pots of Beth’s Blue Star Flower are so pretty and your garden spinner is wonderful fun for the girls. Happy June Pam & Butch!

Thanks Jenna. The weather has been so beautiful. We do need some rain.

How beautiful and refreshing your gardens are. Love all the many colors. Oh I bet those long rows of sunflowers will be beautiful. I love sunflowers and usually plant some for Fall bloom. They were my late MIL favorite flower and I have been planting them in her memory since she passed each year. They bring me so much joy at first sight of a bloom. Enjoy your week dear friend. Hugs and blessings, Cindy
Pam @ Everyday Living says
How sweet that you plant sunflowers in memory of your MIL. They are such a happy flower! Thank you Cindy!

Wow beauty everywhere! I do love Beth’s Blue and it looks fabulous planted in mass like that! Love how your handyman is always involved and “handy”! I love seeing sunflowers and it looks like you’ve got a great start! Have a lovely week!
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Thanks so much Liz. I could never garden without his help. Have a lovely week fellow gardener!
Penny at Enjoying The Simple Things says
Your gardens are so beautiful! Do you plant veggies and herbs too?
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Thanks Penny. We planted veggies for many years and we always have herbs. We have a large vegetable farm near us that raises everything. We buy fresh vegetables from them.

That spinner is a winner …fascinating. My, you two have been industrious in getting so much accomplished. The photos are beautiful (especially the finale) You have
inspired me to pot some lavender. We planted the entry urns with multi-colored blooms punctuated with chartreuse sweet potato vine. Your ambitious handyman has
done a remarkable job of fencing and setting in the 32 ft. bed of sunflowers. The Lord
must be pleased with your cooperative effort in His creation…it shows. Have a happy and rewarding June, dear ones.
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Yes, pot some lavender and enjoy its lovely fragrance. My RM can do anything and works so hard. Wishing you a lovely week!

Your baby bunny is so dear! How I adore him! And all those marvelous blooms. It has come on so well, Pam. I love your spinner. I have a small one up north and if I see the right one will get another. I find them fascinating! There is so much to love here — not the least of which is your fabulous fence. And a cottage garden, too~!
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Thank you Jeanie. I just hope the bunnies eat the clover and not my plants.

What a gorgeous garden you and your husband have created! Our plantings are much simpler than yours–roses, hydrangeas, and day lilies. Usually we have a long planter on the deck but haven’t put in any flowers yet. It’s been cold and wet! I’m not one to spend hours puttering in the dirt anhway. I don’t like gardening; I like having gardened. (That’s based on a quote about writing: “I hate writing, but I love having written!” As a blogger, you can probably identify with that quote too!)
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Yes, love that quote and I do identify. Thank you for your lovely visit, Nancy!

Your gardens are ever so lovely and tranquil! You & Butch have such a wonderful green thumb too! I will look for those Beth’s Blue Star flowers. Unfortunately we have chirt in our yard so raised beds & big pots are how we grow flowers. We too have wild bunnies & chipmunks which our three indoor cats observe from our screened in porch. You inspire us all!!
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Thank you Penny. I love raised beds!
Patti Fralix says
Beautiful as always, dear friend. There is so much work in that labor of love, your garden. You and Butch should be so proud of it. Lots of love, and prayers for rain!
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Thank you so much. It is a lot of hard work. Sending my love!
Linda Primmer says
Your garden is just gorgeous. I love how Butch extended the picket fence to the cottage, so quaint. The bunny is adorable. I think it is precious you planted sunflowers in memory of you MIL.
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Thank you Linda. I always enjoy your visits !
Rita C. says
Pam, I love the raised beds and new fencing. I can’t wait to see what you plant and how cottage-y (i.e. messy) you let it get. 🙂 I have a feeling RM will want it neater and tidier. 😉
Pam @ Everyday Living says
I think you have us figured out. That is why we still haven’t made any progress 🤣

I loved this post, so many inspirational ideas. I wish I could say that I am back to gardening again but I am very limited as to what I can do after my knee surgery, my back and hip issue. I wish I could just wave that magic wand and it would all go away. Seeing the sweet bunny reminded me why I no longer plant pansy’s. The rabbits chew them to the ground. This coming Nov. when I would normally plant them I think I am going to just do pots of pansy’s or hanging pots. Love the spinner too, what did you google to find it?
Carolyn
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Carolyn, I hope you get relief from your back and hip issues. The spinner came from Home Depot. Take care of yourself!

Pulling weeds in your garden would not be work. It would be more like walking through the garden of Eden and seeing everything God made and lovingly removing the weeds to make the walk more beautiful.

Alice, thank you. How I would love for you to visit!
