Happy Tuesday, my friends. Have you noticed that the days are getting shorter? Summer is quickly passing and even our garden has taken note of the changes.
“Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things.”
Philippians 4:8
The garden has taken on a different appearance the past couple of weeks! Let’s see what is happening!
Vanilla strawberry hydrangeas are blushing…
…in our hot and humid climate, they never take on a true strawberry color.
Limelights bloom a little later and they are currently in their beautiful creamy white stage! I always have questions about the yellow-green shrubs. They are sunshine ligustrums and I love that their chartreuse color stands out against the darker greens of the garden.
Colorblaze wicked witch coleus (planted in a large urn) recently moved under the Lady Banks rose arbor. It is so large that a strong wind will often blow it over. My camera lens makes it appear close to the cottage.
As you have probably noticed, I like playing around with photography even though I am definitely a novice. I have made attempts to take a few lessons from our son, the digital media professional, but his explanations are way over my head!
Autumn fire sedum will be coming into color in late summer!
If you look closely, you will see I am behind on weeding. With the abundance of rain this spring and summer, the weeds have been prolific! My creative RM placed an old broken pot at the base of this large hydrangea. It adds a bit of whimsy!
Limelights in the foreground with a vanilla strawberry in the background!
The little lambs are the first paniculatas to bloom in the garden. They began blushing a few weeks ago and have now turned a deeper rose!
I spot a tinge of blush on some of the limelight blooms!

-William Kent
Little lamb hydrangeas flank the entrance to the garden.
A limelight bloom escapee!
This is a view of the back of the garden from behind the picket fence. Sioux crape myrtles are in the background.

Thank you for your lovely visits and gracious comments. Wishing you a delightful day!

Lol, love that illusion of the pot under the huge hydrangea bush! They’re all beautiful, Pam. Your weeds from rain is very typical of the norm in gardens a little further north from you. It’s a never ending battle!
Thank you Rita. It is too hot to battle the weeds today. They will still be here tomorrow!
Pam, your garden is in full glory, simply stunning. I have often admired your photography skills! You have such an artistic eye. I feel the same way asking my PhD in computer science hubby a simple iPad question which always begins with “if you can answer in 25 words or less”! It is going to be a hot one here today, hoping for a pop up thunderstorm! Stay cool!!
Thank you dearest Roxanne. I understand the problem with long explanations. Hubby and son both lose me along the way. It is going to be hot here today!
Your garden looks beautiful! Love all of your hydrangeas.
Thank you Penny! Wishing you a wonderful week!
Good morning Pam. Hydrangeas top my list of flowers. Yours are magnificent and presented beautifully. I have lots of beautiful plants but no blooms except my limelight. Love your garden quotes. I spend so many happy moments in mine. Have a wonderful week dear friend.
Thank you Dianne. Enjoy your beautiful garden my friend!
So beautiful Pam, even in August, the hardest month on gardens! My flowers have given up! Your Vanilla Strawberry hydrangeas are my favorite, so pretty!
Jenna
Thank you Jenna. It is very hot and humid this week. No weeding for me!
Yes, I just got back after 6 weeks at the beach, it’s hard to adjust!!
I don’t think there is ever a time that your garden doesn’t look gorgeous! Your hydrangeas are beautiful, and always a joy to see. I loved your Sunshine Ligustrums so much that I planted some in my front garden this spring. I love the color they add among the other plantings. Sunshine Cottage is framed so perfectly with all of your pretty gardens. I can’t believe how fast summer has gone by! We take Caroline to college Friday. I’m savoring every drop of time I have with her before she leaves. I imagine I’ll need a box of tissue for the ride back home. Have a wonderful week ahead, my sweet friend!
Shannon, thinking about you as your sweet Caroline begins college. It is so hard for moms♥️
It’s all so beautiful, and I admire you and your garden so much. You are definitely not a photography novice! Thanks for a beautiful start to my day.
Pam, thank you for your sweet comments! Enjoy your week!
Good morning, Pam. Your garden is so beautiful. Our limelight hydrangea has just come into full bloom. I love them when they bear their tinge of pink. Your quotes are also lovely and the one by William Kent have always been a favorite. Wishing you a lovely day and week, dear one.
Thank you Sandra. Enjoy the beautiful limelight. They are so lovely in a vase!
Pam, Your various hydrangeas are absolutely amazing! They’re so full and pretty. Love the planter underneath the hydrangeas. It’s a lovely pop of color. We actually got blooms on our limelight this year and they’re beginning to blush. I still have them in a protective cage from the deer and other wild animals. For me, weeding will happen when it’s cooler. We’re under heat advisories the rest of the week. Stay safe and cool. Clara❤️
Thank you Clara. I am happy you have been able to keep the deer away and you have blushing blooms! No weeding this week, much too hot!♥️
A veritable paradise….. I wonder if you and Butch realize what an outstanding accomplishment your gardens, photography
and commentary are in this blog world of ours.. Awesome is too subtle a description of your hydrangea. Sedum is another
under-appreciated complement in the garden. Your ligustrums really add punch to the color scheme of the whole. We are
so fortunate to have your example and guidance in creating our own garden schemes.
Mary, in these hot and humid days of summer, gardening becomes a real chore. You are an appreciated encourager my friend!
Oh how so gorgeous your garden is even in the heat of the summer!!! I have been on the lookout for the Autumn Fire sedum to add to my fledgling garden!
Love how Mr RM added the broken pot to the base of the hydrangeas. Yes it adds great texture and whimsy.
Happy Tuesday!!
I hope you can find the autumn fire sedum, it has a longer blooming time than autumn joy. Thank you, Shirley!
That pot under the hydrangeas is fabulous! How creative!
And I hear ya on the weeds. I was so good at the beginning of summer but now not so much.
I enjoy your photography always! I swoon over each picture.
Happy Tuesday my friend…
…and I won’t pull any weeds out today if you don’t!
Thank you Nancy. No weeding all week, it is too hot!
Pam, your garden is blooming with beauty. I think your photography skills are wonderful. Mercy, it’s been so hot, humid and rainy here that it has to be late afternoon or early morning to even enjoy the outside. I am ready for cooler weather for sure. Hope the rest of your week is wonderful. Hugs and blessings, Cindy
Thanks so much, Cindy. I hope you get some cooler weather. Hugs!
Oh my Pam. Your photography is outstanding. I see no need in lessons. I am a fan of anything blush and the hydrangeas are beautiful.
Thank you, Alice. Happy Wednesday!
Totally lovely photos and garden, Pam. That Coleus is to die for…and I didn’t plant my urns this year for that reason…and they would be blown over many times this year with the crazy storms. Expecting another tonight. Take care, Sandi
Thanks Sandi. Wishing you a wonderful Wednesday!
Absolutely wonderful! Best wishes,dear Pam.
Thank you Maristella!
sometimes a hint of ‘blush’ says it all, friend … in more ways than one!
Hello Linda. I hope your time with family was filled with fun and memories!
Just beautiful Pam, love those blushing beauties! We have not had the rain that you have had and could use some. Everything is starting to complain and looking ‘crispy’! I’m out the door to water in just few minutes
Beautiful Pam!
Blessings sweet friend 😊
Thank you, Jennifer!
That first touch of pink on the limelights is always exciting to see. All your hydrangeas look terrific. It’s quite a haven in your world. And yes, the days are much shorter. I miss the long ones!
Thanks Jeanie! Happy weekend!
The blushing vanilla hydrangeas are beautiful as are the limelights and sunshine ligustrums. Your photography is lovely.
The quotes were enjoyable too.
Thanks Bonnie!
Beautiful blushing beauties. You have the prettiest hydrangeas. We are way too hot here to have any. I am having garden envy. Thanks for giving me some garden therapy.
Thank you Linda. We have had a couple of weeks of hotter temperatures.
Your garden is too beautiful for anyone to notice a few weeds. 😊
Thank you, Karen!
Such an uplifting garden. The white hydrangeas are my absolute favorite. Yours are beautiful
Thank you for your visit Judee.
