Hello sweet friends. I cannot believe we are already into September. You all know by now (since I mention it often) that autumn is my favorite season. Yesterday began meteorological autumn, September through November. Astronomical autumn begins September 22nd. I decided to start my celebration yesterday.
“I have said these things to you, that in me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world.”
John 16:33
By this time of year, I am ready to say farewell to summer. But before we leave, let’s take a quick look back!

Hydrangeas play a big part in our summer garden. They are at their peak in late July and early August.
Raise your hand if you love the happy faces of sunflowers!
“The love of gardening is a seed once sown that never dies.”
-Gertrude Jekyll
Zinnias are a mainstay in our summer garden. They provide great color and bloom until the first frost. They are great cut flowers!
Crape myrtles just say summer!
You will usually find me setting garden tables during the summer months!
A repurposed box was filled with lemons, snowflake hydrangeas, sunflowers, hosta, and limelights for a Monday Morning Blooms arrangement.
A beautiful and sentimental quilt sets the stage for a welcome to summer. Five different varieties of hydrangeas make up the floral arrangement!
A table was set to celebrate our pollinator friends, the bees!
Three varieties of white hydrangeas from my garden joined a rose parade of garden salad plates and a cottage rose tablecloth!
Our girls love playing in the garden!
Precious little grandson wasn’t quite big enough to join his sisters outdoors this summer, but just wait until next year!
RM and I were able to enjoy dining during the summer months at a favorite restaurant in Birmingham.
We love roaming during summer in a search for beautiful spots to photograph…
…and gems like this gorgeous lotus flower!
The Sunshine Cottage has been enjoyed all summer.
The girls and I played dolls, read stories, picnicked, and had a sleep-over!
“Summer ends, and Autumn comes, and he who would have it otherwise would have high tide always and a full moon every night.”
-Hal Borland
Chasing summer sunsets is always fun! From our house…
…to Weiss Lake..
…and back to the sun setting over our Appalachian Foothills!
Thank you for your visit and gracious comments. Wishing you a blessed day!

Pam, I was thinking early this morning as I read my devotional about how you and Butch capture the most magical sunrises and sunsets. “If I fly with wings into the shining dawn, you are there. If I fly into the radiant sunset, you are there waiting…Psalm 139:7-9”

Beautiful scripture, Roxanne. I find such comfort in God’ Word. Have a Happy Thursday!

Sunflowrs, zinnias, little girls in darling dresses. It’s all pretty darned perfect, Pam. I hope you didn’t get drowned out in the rains after Ida.
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Thank you Jeanie. We are so thankful that we were spared the fury of Ida. It was a terrible storm and impacted so many.

Pam, your garden and your tables are gorgeous. I know you enjoyed every ounce of summer and those sweet girls. You are right, wait until next year – that sweet little boy will give his sisters a run. He is so sweet with his chubby little legs.
It is starting to get dark earlier here and the temperatures are much cooler. It was 52 on the back porch this morning and is to b 47 tonight. Hope the rains from Ida didn’t visit you. It was some storm.
Have a lovely weekend, sweet friend.
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Ida was a horrific storm for so many people. My heart goes out to all who were so devastated by its fury. We had lots of rain and some wind, but no damage.
Those temperatures sound so nice. Have a love Labor Day Weekend!

I was just telling someone today that I wish we could have two Septembers every year. I loved your summer reminisce. What a beautiful place for your precious grand-ones to explore as they grow. I’m especially enamored with your Oakleaf Hydrangea ‘Snowflake’ – so much that I just put it on my wishlist for future hydrangeas. Thanks for the lovely floral tribute to summer’s end.
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Thank you Cindie. I purchased three snowflakes and will be planting them this fall. Hopefully, the dear won’t eat them.

Oh, those sunsets! And that Scripture verse! It has long been one of my favorites, but I can’t even begin to tell you how many times I have seen it lately. I find so much comfort in knowing even though our Lord had such severe trials in this life, He overcame the world. Because of what He did, we can, too. That gives me so much hope this morning! Thank you for always filling my soul when I come here – the Bible verse at the top of each one of your posts and all the beauty you share. It is all being used mightily by God and is such an encouragement. God bless you!
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Your comments are most encouraging. Thank you, Cheryl!
