Hello sweet friends! Autumn weather officially came to our Appalachian Foothills on Saturday with lows in the 40’s and high’s in the mid 60’s. The weather called for a pot of delicious homemade chili. I may have also enjoyed a cup of hot chocolate. Do you recall if I have mentioned that autumn is my favorite season and October my favorite month? (Lol)
It is Monday Morning Blooms with my lovely blogging friends!
“Forever, O Lord, your word is firmly fixed in the heavens.”
Psalm 119:89
In my opinion, fall is the most beautiful time of year to set a table in the garden!
You will find the links for my friends’ beautiful floral inspiration at the bottom of this post.
Our common theme for this edition of Monday Morning Blooms is copper! Copper is perfect for any season, but I especially like it in autumn for its warm and earthy qualities.
I was raised a city girl, not a large city, but still considered the city. When RM and I married, he and I moved slightly into the country. After six years of marriage we built our present home way out in the country, or so it seemed for this city girl. It was so much in the country in 1979, that we couldn’t get a phone line for four months. Before you gasp, we did have running water and electricity! Country living won my heart in a very short time. RM grew up in the country and was so knowledgeable about the woods surrounding the foothills and creek banks. Over the years, he has taught me to love the land…the sightings of deer, bald eagles, turkeys, and all things wild…including wildflowers. For those of you that have followed our long-time series Simple + Southern Sunday, he is now the writer and you all have embraced his knowledge and expertise. I am always learning from him. He taught our son to love God’s amazing creation and he is teaching our grandchildren!
Sorry, I digressed. My RM foraged the 250 acre woods for wildflowers. He came back with enough wildflowers in his Arctic Cat to make ten arrangements. What do we have in the hammered copper pitcher? The golds are goldenrod and wild sunflowers…the small purple flowers are asters (most of them are past their bloom time)…the small white flowers are wild daisies…the wispy greens are dog fennel, also known as summer cedar…the three tall grasses are fox tail…and a few maples leaves fill in around the bottom. I love that the arrangement is wild and free. I used chicken wire placed inside the pitcher and simply allowed the flowers to do as they pleased!
Copper mugs are filled with cold apple cider, perfect for this time of year!
“October is the opal month of the year. It is the month of glory, of ripeness. It is the picture-month.
~Henry Ward Beecher
The table is nestled among the adagio maiden grasses and next to the Sunshine Cottage.
The napkins and placemats are vintage that I found several years ago on a trip to Highlands, NC. Glitzy leaf napkin rings were a gift from a cherished friend. The plate stack features a plaid charger, American Atelier “baroque” dinner plate, and Johnson Brothers “harvest time” dinner and salad plate. Copper flatware has graced several fall tables this year, as well as the amber stemware.
“Bittersweet October. The mellow, messy, leaf-kicking, the perfect pause between the opposing miseries of summer and winter.”
~Carol Bishop Hipps
The plaid tablecloth has been around for a long time. I think it came from TJ Maxx. Its colors are perfect for autumn!
The pumpkins are in the foreground, after all it is their season!
You can catch a glimpse of the cottage porch. It will be featured on a blog post this Thursday.

Pam, I know I’m in for a treat when I’m invited to pull up chair at a table in your garden! I love the carefree mix of wildflowers filling your copper pitcher. Your tablecloth is the perfect foundation for your table with the mix of copper shades and gold. I love your pretty plate stack and have a special place in my heart for Harvest Time by Johnson Brothers as it was my grandmother’s pattern. As always it’s a treat to start my day and share blooms with you. Fall arrived in our neck of the wood too this weekend. Enjoy this wonderful weather, Happy Monday. ♥

Oh wow Pam! I’m not a fan of Fall but boy am I a fan of your tables, and this table is a favorite. Maybe it’s because you used the wild flowers Butch found on his walk through the woods, enough for 10 arrangements! Whatever it might be I love the wild flowers in the copper pitcher.

Thank you Alice, your comment came through!

Pam, Your garden alfresco table is beautiful and inviting. Love the copper and the foraged flower bouquet. Sometimes we don’t have to look too hard or stray too far to find just what we need. Love all the fall golden color in the bouquet! Your tablecloth is perfect. Love the colorful plaid. Looking forward to Thursday’s reveal. Enjoy your day sweet friend. Clara❤️
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Thank you Clara. I love that there are wildflowers all around us, I just had to realize their beauty! Have a lovely week ♥️
Alice Genzlinger says
This is my favorite of all your tables. Don’t know why, maybe because Butch found the wild flowers on his walks and brought home enough for “10” arrangements. Fall isn’t my favorite of the four seasons because of the cold weather that follows. But I love your arrangement in the copper pitcher. Simple, country, found.
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Alice, you are so sweet. I am so glad you like it. It was easy, and I spent no money. That is a win, win!

Hi Pam….it’s too bad that I do not live next door house🏡 as I would grab some of those extra gorgeous wildflowers that Mr. RM gathered for you!….What a most beautiful arrangement to embellish that pretty copper pitcher!…I can’t imagine how wonderful it is to sit at the table in the crisp cool breezes of our Fall weather and gaze upon the beauty that surrounds it. Loving your place settings of the beautiful Johnson Brothers Harvest Time and the vintage napkins. I love reading your stories of your beloved home…now I do not think that I could have lived without a phone for 4 months!…😊 I wish you a most beautiful day and love sharing flower inspiration with you Pam!!
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Thank you Shirley. If you lived close by we would share the wildflowers. It was very difficult to not have a phone, I will never forget it.

Pam, your table is gorgeous!!! The copper is the perfect container for autumn and for your stunning arrangement. What is available to us in Nature’s garden is always amazing. Your creativity is all that it needs to become something extra special.

Pam @ Everyday Living says
Thank you Sandra. Nature’s garden has so much to offer if we pay attention!

Any season in your garden is lovely, Pam, but I do love fall! Your yellow blooms in the copper makes me smile. Beautiful choice! Of course all your plaid details also thrill. Thanks for sharing this gorgeous setting. Happy Fall!
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Thank you, Sarah. I will be sad to see autumn go.
Heritage Hall says
What a delightful setting of “wilds”….The warmth and hue of October/Autumn brings a bit of bittersweet feeling, as the nature around us withers and blows away to be replaced by chilled days and evenings….and then the joy and color of Thanksgiving
and Christmas arrive. You have made the Autumn visits so warm and welcoming and I am anticipating what you have planned for the cottage porch…. eye-catching for certain….
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Thank you, Mary. Yes, nature is withering, but she will return in her full glory come Spring. We both know that God’s creation is very much alive, even in winter!
the Painted Apron says
How wonderful of Rm to forage for foliage for your centerpiece! I love the free and wild arrangement, and it looks gorgeous in the copper pitcher! The color tones of your cloth are so pretty with your pale pumpkins and gold and copper tablesetting~ I know you’re loving these cooler temps and autumn days. The quotes through out your post are lovely. I’m looking forward to seeing the Sunshine Cottage on Thursday!

Thanks Jenna. There is great satisfaction, as you know, when you don’t spend money, but use what you have on hand. The wildflowers are free and growing wild. Today has been a picture perfect day! Enjoy, my friend!

That might be my favorite of one of your centerpieces. It’s just so darned happy and free form. Love the chicken wire idea and the copper is fabulous! It’s really gorgeous. Johnson Brothers really are the best, aren’t they?

Pam thank you for sharing your story of ‘early Butch and Pam’….I loved it and your introduction to country living.
I grew up in the country and lived in the country for years. I am now a city girl but my heart will always be there in the country.
I also love your copper touches and the copper pitcher is perfect with the flowers your RM picked and brought home to you. How sweet he is. Your table has all the Fall elements that make me want to come sit at your table enjoying the cooler weather and talking about our “littles” ! I can’t wait to see your cottage all dressed for Autumn on Thursday.
A lovely table my dear friend!

Without question your husband understood the assignment…several times over!!! My goodness! What a great haul on the flowers! Not only beautiful, but bountiful!!!
I’m glad you have adjusted well to country living. It’s not for everyone. My sister loves nothing more than to be in the company of acreage and animals. I’m more of the “Lisa Douglas” type, preferring the cusp kind of like you described where you first lived. We have fields of corn and soy and cattle along with a beautiful lake all within walking distance, but we’re not positioned right dead in the middle of it. And good shopping and restaurants are a mere 15 minutes away. I can appreciate being in the thick of it for several weeks when we go to visit friends, though. It’s a wonderful and welcome respite every time!
Your tablescape is fantabulous as always! Now…what to do with all those extra flowers?🙃🙂
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Thank you Alycia. I understand being the Lisa Douglas type, I was too. Green Acres was a hoot. Your sister and I would enjoy each other’s company, but so would you and I!! Shopping and good restaurants are a must!
Cheryl says
So beautiful, as always, sweet friend! I LOVE the amber stemware! And the copper mugs. And the tablecloth. I just love it all! Pam @ Everyday Living says
Thank you dear one. Wishing you a wonderful and blessed day!
