Happy Thursday sweet friends! Thanksgiving is one week from today, are you ready?
“Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within me.”
Psalm 51:10
In the blog and Instagram world, Christmas is everywhere! So far, my Christmas decorating consists of the tree being placed and fluffed in the Sunshine Cottage. I really don’t like mixing the two holidays. But, I find it necessary to make a start in order to finish, so I can relax and enjoy the season. I think the bottom line is…I am getting older and slower! I always enjoy looking back on Christmases past. Grab a cup of coffee and join me as I take a stroll through the archives!
Last year, Mary, Joseph, and the Christ Child moved from the hearth to my French chest. You might remember my large Nativity that included seven pieces. It was scaled back to include only four. Age had impacted the three wise men and their size made them hard to store…
…the shepherd was kept and placed on the hearth. I may place them all together this year, I don’t have a plan for sure.
Candlelight provides a soft and warm glow!
Our front porch is small but was merry and bright! Most visitors and family enter other doors but you never know who might show up!
The dining room bay window always has a tree. For several years, there was a mini forest of flocked trees in the windows! Do you remember? And how about the red walls?
The coffee table changes from year to year!
Who doesn’t love a coffee table with red velvet fudge and espressos? You might prefer a latte, cappuccino, or maybe a simple cup of coffee! RM would grab the fudge but leave anything in the “coffee family” for the rest of us!
I love the needlepoint stockings and there will be a new one added this year for little Wyatt! This was Christmas 2019 when all of the Nativity was on the hearth.
“Wise men still seek Him.”
We have had the snow people carolers for several years. Last year they sang in the Sunshine Cottage…
…prior years they caroled on the kitchen porch! Where will they be this year, I am not sure?!
I had so much fun decorating the Sunshine Cottage last year. I rarely buy new Christmas decor. I have many collections that evoke wonderful memories. When I unwrap them from year to year, it is like seeing old friends…
…like Fitz and Floyd…
…the beautiful church made by my Mother!
I look forward to sharing our home, tablescapes, and the Sunshine Cottage during the Christmas season! Have you started decorating?
Thank you for your visit and gracious comments. Wishing you a delightful day!

I’m still unpacking and watering in plants in the garden! But u did place my candles in the windows….
Your home is beautiful, especially at Christmas. I blew up Seth’s portrait and I think EK looks a lot like him! I never realized just how much!

Beautiful Pam! I’m still in Thanksgiving mode and was cooking and stocking my freezer yesterday for next week. Believe it or not, I have a pile of Halloween stuff that has to be stashed before I can bring down Christmas from storage…procrastination, thy name is Mary. 🙂
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Thank you, Mary. I have a problem with procrastination😉

I start after Thanksgiving Dinner with decorating. My family helps me decorate my tree. I love seeing my decorations each year too. Love the memories. But at my age I’m doing a little less in some areas because I am sooooo slow! I always love seeing all your beautiful decorations and how you use them.
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Thank you, Nancy. I know you love your family helping you!

I love it all Pam. Your nativity scene is so very pretty. Girl, I am with ya! The older I get the slower I am. I love Christmas so much and all the sights, sounds and smells. However, If I don’t start early then I will not get it all done. My youngest daughter came to help me one day and it sure helped a lot. I remember my late MIL saying as she aged that wanted to do things when she wanted too do it regardless of whether it was the right time, the right season or holiday. She said, “I am no longer waiting on banana’s to get ripe to eat them at my age”. LOL! Happy day to you dear Pam. Hugs and blessings, Cindy
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Thank you, Cindy. Love reading what your late MIL said. Happy Thanksgiving!

Beautiful photos that really get me in the Christmas mood! I’m not one for decorating before Thanksgiving but I am a little worried since I’ll be gone the week of Thanksgiving and will have so much to do when I get back. My daughter is hosting our family Christmas this year so that’s a huge load off…like you said, I feel older and slower 😂 One of my friends has her tree up and decorated and all her presents wrapped!! That is definitely not me!

Thank you, Jenna. So nice for you that your daughter is hosting Christmas. Wishing you a wonderful week of Thanksgiving.
ROLL TIDE, I am watching as I type!

So much gorgeousness for this Thursday morning! Your home always looks so beautiful, warm, and inviting. I have enjoyed looking back on your past Christmas decorations. So much pretty inspiration! I have started decorating, but it seems to be taking me longer. We go to my dad and mom’s for Thanksgiving, so I can get started earlier. Like you, I don’t like mixing the two holidays. However, it is nice to have it finished early so you can enjoy the season. Caroline is coming home today for Thanksgiving break, and I am so excited! Hopefully, she will help me finish my decorating. My dear friend, I hope you have a blessed day and wonderful weekend!
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Thank you, Shannon. Enjoy your Caroline and all of your family!

Pam, Love the pics of Christmas past. Your Mom’s church is so pretty. I did one in a soft blue back back in the 80s and it still gets displayed. Your home and the Sunshine Cottage decor will be beautiful! Happy Thanksgiving! Clara❤️🦃
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Thank you, Clara. My Mom did some blue ones, they are so pretty! Happy Thanksgiving ♥️

Memories! I love your past Christmas decorations. Like you I don’t shop for new decoration unless something has been destroyed. Yes , the tree is up but not decorated. I’m having 8 over for Thanksgiving And there is so many things to do to accomplish a joy filled day. Cooking makes me happy and decorating is my thing. Hope your day is glorious.
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Thank you Alice. Enjoy your week of cooking and your Thanksgiving!

Pam, I have enjoyed this post this morning – rather afternoon. I do love your Nativity – it is so lovely., as is your home. Just a picture of warmth and love. I agree with you about mixing the holidays. Our tree is in the hallway and it is my hope to get it up over the weekend. Not decorated, but up. I also do not whirl and twirl like I once did. When I think of the years I left our home for work at 5:30 a.m. each day, I wonder how I did it. Youth is a marvelous thing.
Wishing you and your lovely family a most special Thanksgiving.
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Sandra, I remember when I was much younger accomplishing so much in a day’s time. Not so much, anymore!
Happy Thanksgiving ♥️

Oh Pam…you always inspire with your decor. I love the nativity on the fireplace and the snow people carolers….I can hear them singing …so adorable whether in the Sunshine Cottage or in your home. Your home is always beautiful with the bright colors of the season. We are all getting a little long in the tooth, I think. I am aways saying that “I am like Uncle Joe who is moving kinda slow at the junction.”…if you remember that from the Petticoat Junction TV show…then one is definitely moving kinda slow. LOL. I have not started decorating for Christmas yet…unless you count the 4 foot pink tree in the living room that has been decorated since last year and never taken down. LOL. We shall see if I have the energy to do a little decorating….the Captain is such a good helper but I may not do too much as we are thinking of going to The Keys for Christmas. So glad we got to see the family this past summer in Kansas and grateful for the family that came to visit us here in Florida. Wishing you and yours a wonderful and relaxing Holiday.
Hugs my dear friend
Kari

I don’t even think about Christmas until after Thanksgiving. I love all the frills of the holiday season, but I find that things get simpler at our house every year. Your decor is always perfection and I will enjoy it from afar.
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Thank you, Linda. I should simplify, but I love doing it for us!
Michelle says
I love all of your decorations, but I think those adorable singing snowmen are my favorite!
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Thanks so much, Michelle! Happy Thanksgiving!

So much beautiful inspiration! I especially love your mother’s church ad the nativity. Glad to hear everyone is slowing down a bit like me! The last few years I vowed not to go “all out”, but everything has such sweet memories it somehow all gets unpacked!
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Roxanne, I feel the same way. I must unpack the memories!
Nancy says
I’m with you… I’m getting older and I am not as fast as I use to be. I have decorated some already… but it’s only because of us traveling over the Holidays. So I need to also be able to enjoy the season so… I do have one tree up and the She Shed is decorated.
I enjoy see your beautiful home decorated for Christmas… actually I enjoy seeing your lovely home all the time!
Sending great big Thanksgiving Hugs to you and yours!
Pam @ Everyday Living says
You are ahead of me, dear one. Enjoy this week of Thanksgiving!

Your blog is like a holiday magnet… Thanksgiving and Christmas. Our bins came down yesterday and I filtered through them
to see what form the decor would take..How do you resist displaying all of the memories, no matter how little surface room is left after unpacking the half? Your Mom’s Church is a treasure and I have always loved your particular, (no longer available, though I’ve searched) Nativity set. Thank you for this annual iinspirational treat. Pam. Be still, my heart, for what is yet to come.
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Thanks so much, Mary! Two trees are up, but not decorated! Happy Thanksgiving Week!

Speaking of being slow, I am with you. It has been a busy week and having been to Houston and back I am behind.
I love seeing your Christmas decor and hearing about your plans for this year. Always fun to see your beautiful home.
Mine will look very differently as we will be out of town two times before Christmas and won’t be home for Christmas.

You have a traveling lady! I am certainly ready for a trip!

I am almost finished and am thrilled about that! I got my tree up and decorated today and that was the last of what I do indoors (all the other rooms are done). I did most of outside the other day when we had mild temps but have to finish that. I LOVE to get it done early now that we go to our daughters for Thanksgiving. We hosted for 45 years:)
Karen (Back Road Journal) says
Your lovely home is always such an inspiration. I agree about getting older and slower but I’ll continue to decorate my home. When we lived in New Hampshire I had a Christmas tree in every room but now that we are in Florida, I’m down to just one tree.
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Thank you, Karen. I am trying to scale back but I want to make wonderful memories for my three young grandchildren. Using smaller trees has helped a lot.

Glorious!
