Happy Monday sweet friends. Perhaps many of you are enjoying a long weekend with today being Presidents’ Day!
“Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.”
Psalm 119:105
It is Monday Morning Blooms with my friends Mary, Shirley, and Lidy. I always look forward to the 1st and 3rd Mondays of each month when we share flower therapy with our dear readers.
Our common theme for this edition of Monday Morning Blooms is citrus!
You will find my talented friends’ links at the bottom of this post.
I love the idea of mixing citrus and flowers! The dining table was set for a light brunch that included citrus flavors of orange and lemon.
Instead of a vase, why not use a box? I think I have shared the story about this box before. I was looking for something different, not the normal vase to hold flowers. Since I always suggest shopping your house, I had shopped mine and hadn’t come up with anything. Later that day, as I was placing something in the backseat of my SUV, I saw this cute box holding cd’s. The box had been on the floorboard for quite a while, but I simply had not given it a thought. The moral of this story: don’t just shop your house, shop your car. You never know what you might discover!
I knew flowers would be in short supply following Valentine’s. Filling the box with small jam jars and arranging them to fit tightly within the box kept them from shifting. Alstroemeria is usually available and the back of the box displays two different colors. Green pom buttons, tutti fruitti roses, carnations, eucalyptus, and daffodils from the old farm complete the arrangement. I can’t wait for our daffodils to bloom in the cottage garden. Halo oranges were placed on bamboo skewers and joined the flowers for what I am calling a floral medley!
Fresh orange juice, lemon poppyseed mini muffins…
…accompanied lemon bars and Snickerdoodle coffee!
Beautiful lemon napkins by Mary Lake Thompson and “fruit rapture” cups and saucers by Mikasa (my everyday pattern) add more citrus to the table!
Did you notice the hyacinths? Their fragrance is amazing!
“In the wintertime, in the snow country, citrus fruit was so rare, and if you got one, it was better than ambrosia.”
~James Earl Jones
Lemon bars are a wonderful treat, anytime!
Oranges and lemons brighten a brunch table and also add a bright finish to food!

Pam, your brunch table is stunning!…from the glorious citrus arrangement, t the beautiful linens and china. I am definitely going to create a citrus arrangement 🍋🍊for my next brunch…you have inspired me! … Love the “white box” that you used for this beautiful arrangement. Don’t you love it when that “ephipany” happens when shopping the house and in this case, the car! I find myself shopping my “storage abyss” lately…I cannot wait to see your gardens in full bloom again….and my daffodils are blooming…yay!…first time since we have moved into the new house…Happy to join you and our beautiful Bloom 🌸 friends today!!….Have a wonderful Presidents’ Day!!
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Thank you, Shirley. My daffodils are up, but not blooming. Love sharing MMB’s!
Mary says
Pam, I had to laugh at ‘don’t just shop your house, shop your car’! 🙂 Your box makes the perfect vessel for your colorful floral medley! I love how your tutti frutti roses are the perfect blend and shades of your oranges and lemons. Your table provides a delicious start to the day and how fun that your Mikasa mugs are bearing lemons! I agree, lemon bars are a wonderful treat anytime and too hard for me to resist! As always, it’s a treat to join you for some flower therapy and share blooms with you. Happy Monday ♥
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Thanks so much, Mary. I am ashamed to say only one lemon bar remains 🍋 I always look forward to MMB’s!

Good morning! I had forgotten MMB and was delighted to realize it was the 3rd Monday.
I like mixing fruit and flowers too. Your vignette is so refreshing. I immediately wanted a swallow of orange juice and a bite of muffin. Then the lemon bar appeared and the flavors are wonderful to think about. I love how you mixed the different flowers. What a blessing to have an old homestead to pick daffodils from.
I am thinking of the lovely hyacinths fragrance and look forward to mine blooming.
Your arrangement is creative and striking.
Happy Monday! I don’t know how you do all you do!
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Thank you, Bonnie. The hyacinth fragrance has filled the dining room and kitchen. Sometimes, I feel like I am running in circles. Happy Monday!

Pam, I love how you thought out every detail and it is all citrus related. Absolutely beautiful. I inherited some beautiful pieces from John’s mother and am having so much fun “playing house” and rearranging things; it is bittersweet, but I hope Mumsy would be pleased. Wish we were having a chat over your lemon squares and Snickerdoodle coffee!
Pam @ Everyday Living says
I hope you will share some of the beautiful pieces. I know Mumsy would be so happy you are using her things. Happy week to you, Roxanne!
