Hello sweet friends and happy Tuesday. Have you adjusted to the time change? It takes a few days for my internal clock to change to daylight savings time. Hopefully we are back to more normal temperatures after three nights that fell way below freezing. The cold zapped our Japanese magnolia and I am unsure if the snowball viburnums were affected!
“You are my hiding place and my shield; I hope in your word.”
Psalm 119:114
This past Saturday was sunny, but very cold and windy. It was too cold for any gardening chores. However it was a perfect day to begin adding “spring” to the Sunshine Cottage and setting a table!
I cut a bouquet of daffodils on Friday afternoon prior to our cold weather. They became the inspiration for the table!
Drawing colors from a new tablecloth made choosing dishes easy!
RM decided on building a few raised beds for our small cottage garden. He and the girls planted the daffodil bulbs in late fall last year. The blooms looked so pretty until our forty mile per hour wind gusts this past weekend!
As I am getting more mature in age, I find that I don’t make decisions quickly. This little cottage garden is still being pondered. It appears that RM may have made the decision to move ahead of me!
Bordallo Pinheiro dessert plates rest upon American Atelier “baroque” salad plates. You may have noticed that I often use the three plates in this stack. I change up linens and that gives a fresh look!
Dinner plates are Spode Blue Room Traditions series.
The tiny clay pots are hand painted and are one of my favorite napkin rings!
The new watercolor-inspired design “April’s Village” tablecloth is from April Cornell. Butterflies, hummingbirds, and a blue house which is a rendition of April’s actual home in Burlington, VT combine for a fun and colorful addition to my linens.
Looking through the window, you can see the wind blown daffodils!
A blue and white cake stand was used for a mossy bird’s nest. The mockingbirds have already begun their nest building in our Lady Banks rose arbor.
I hope you join me in continued prayers for Ukraine. Thank you for your visit and gracious comments. Wishing you a most wonderful day!

So very pretty Pam! I love the cheery daffies in a vase as a centerpiece for your table amd I adore your new AC tablecloth with the butterflies, birds, flowers and pretty village houses. Your dish stack is perfectly paired! It’s been very blustery here too with lake wind advisories. March has definitely been lion-like. Happy Tuesday. ♥
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Thank you, Mary. it has warmed up here but rain off and on this week!
Rita C. says
Love the color mix, Pam. So bright and cheerful! I’m happy we’re bouncing back to spring again this week.
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Warmer temps but rain is expected off and on all week. We will be wishing for rain in August, so no complaints here!

Daffodils are such sweet and pretty flowers. You can’t help but smile when you see them. It will be a little longer up here in the Midwest before we see them pop up. Love your spring table setting. Happy Tuesday.

I love the cottage! It’s the perfect venue for your beautiful styling skills and this lovely table doesn’t disappoint! I adore daffodils — such a sign of spring. And it’s wonderful to see them on your pretty tablescape. Blue and yellow has always been a favorite combo — now it also has meaning.
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Yes, blue and yellow has new meaning. Thank you for your sweet comments, Jeanie!

Your new tablecloth is so cheerful and vibrant, perfect for yellow daffodils, blue glasses and plates, and cabbage plates! I am so sorry the winter blast affected your garden, hopefully that’s the last of winter for this year. You were so smart to bring your daffodils inside to enjoy . The painted flower pot napkin rings are darling and the moss and bird’s nest are a wonderful touch of Spring!

Three nights of below freezing temperatures. Is that unusual for your area? I’m so sorry you will lose some of your blooms. Do you think you might lose some plants also? The daffodils will survive even though they were wind blown and the sun might even set them back up. RM did a good job with the raised beds now it’s your turn to make the remaining cottage garden look pretty. That’s a fun job for you I’m sure. Like you I love April Cornell’s tablecloths but must stop buying them as my closet is full.
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Three straight nights in March is unusual. I don’t think any plants are harmed, just blooms. Thanks so much, Alice. I know you have some beautiful tablecloths!
Penny at Enjoying The Simple Things says

Thanks so much, Penny!

Ooo la la, I love your new table cloth! The colors are so happy! Blue and yellow has always been my favorite color combination. I regret not picking my daffodils on Saturday, they are toast now along with the camellia blossoms and new growth on the hydrangeas. I am holding my breath on my snowball viburnum and the azaleas too. But I looked out the window, and Mama Goose has gotten on her new nest…Spring cannot be far behind!
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Thank you, Roxanne. The cold wreaked havoc on so many early bloomers. I should have cut more daffodils than I did. Yay for Mama Goose!
Clara says
Pam, That tablecloth is beautiful! It’s perfect for Spring. Your daffodils are so pretty. Ours had 5 inches of snow Friday night but the snow was gone by late Saturday afternoon, thank goodness! Love the tablescape in the Sunshine Cottage! Enjoy your day. Clara❤️
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Thank you, Clara. I am so sorry you had damage from the ice storm. Don’t overdo and take care.

Pam, your table is amazing. Your new AC watercolor cloth is really beautiful. I love how the clay pot napkin rings look with it. I wish I had been smart enough to bring in daffodils. They were beautiful but the cold spell and snow got them and the camellias. Thank you for the beauty.
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Thank you, Dianne. I should have cut more daffodils!

I love the mixing of colors here! So very pretty. I always love to see how you style your tables and I hope I never have to judge a favorite one! Those napkin rings are so cute! I want to decorate my dining table but have not taken the time. Too busy making soap for my girls! LOL! Hugs and blessings, Cindy

Loving your new tablecloth with the pretty butterflies! The daffodils look beautiful in the blue and white ginger jar and your plate stack and blue glasses welcome spring wonderfully. It won’t be long before it is spring again outside but your Sunshine Cottage looks like spring is here.
Those fierce winds and freezing temps destroyed my azaleas that were blooming. It was spring and then it was winter again.
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Thanks so much, Bonnie. I am sorry about your azaleas. Most have not bloomed around here.
Sandra at Maison De Jardin says
Hello, dear Pam. I do love your table, it is so pretty. I am very fond of blue and white but my heart leaps at the sight of yellow and blue. Your King Alfred’s are beautiful. They are such a wonderful treat after winter. I know the girls were proud of their planting! We had the same weather that arrived over night. Except we had about 10 inches of snow. It is 70 degrees today. Dear sweet March!
Wishing you happy spring days!
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Thank you, Sandra. The girls loved the daffs and I was able to get some photos of them. I am also a fan of blue and yellow!

I can surely relate to it being harder to make decisions as we get older! Just the other day Zach said something along this line, “Mama, I’m worried about you. You have such a hard time making decisions!” Here I thought it was just me! LOL! Glad to know I am not alone. Seeing the wind-blown daffodils through your beautiful cottage window brought a Laura Ingalls Wilder movie to my mind. I forget exactly what had happened, but there had been a bad storm or some kind of tragic event, & the ground outside her home was so changed by it. Your new tablecloth is SO pretty! And I love the napkin rings, too! So wonderful to visit with you, sweet friend.
Pam @ Everyday Living says
I am glad I am not alone in my slowed down decision making. Blessings, sweet friend!
