Happy Monday, sweet friends! I hope you had a wonderful weekend and are seeing signs of spring. When I first started blogging in August 2014, we weren’t yet grandparents. You have been so gracious as our family has grown beginning with the birth of EM in 2016, EK in 2019, and WL in 2021. We are so thankful for our two granddaughters and our grandson. For many years my friends had talked endlessly about their darling grands, and after the birth of our first, I completely understood.
“Grandchildren are the crown of the aged, and the glory of children is their fathers.”
Proverbs 17:6
This past Saturday, our EK turned three. She was so excited about her birthday and talked about it for a month leading up to the BIG day. Speaking of talking…Emma is quite a talker and can literally go nonstop for 30 minutes, even in the playroom with nobody around! Most of the time we are in need of an interpreter.
As I have mentioned before, the blog is a journal of important events and celebrations, as well as the things that I enjoy sharing. Today we are celebrating our sweet little blue-eyed girl!
What a joy to keep Emma and Wyatt every Monday and Tuesday at their house. EK often wants to pick out her clothes for the day. Last Monday, she was in the mood to dress up and I couldn’t help but take a few photos.
EK’s chosen theme for her third birthday was Belle from Beauty and the Beast. Our Princess was wearing a Belle gown and crown. Her amazing mommy made the fun balloon display!
A Mrs. Potts cake was as delicious as it was darling!
EK was two months old in this photo and her blue eyes seem to match the blue thread on the quilt. The cross-stitched quilt has special significance. My beloved Mother made it for our son and his future wife-to-be. She also made cross-stitched quilts for her other two grandchildren as a gift for when they married. She didn’t live to see her grandchildren married, but it was so meaningful for them to receive her precious gift several years later!
The one-year old Princess!
EK, just like her sister, loves to play outdoors!
Two year old Emma playing in the Sunshine Cottage where many hours have been spent. A lot of our cottage time is spent with me reading to her…she really loves books!
Last year on Easter both of our girls enjoyed hunting eggs in the garden! Based on this expression, I believe EK was taking this egg business seriously!
Playing with Snuggles who is a full-time resident in the cottage! Snuggles was her daddy’s bear when he was her age.
EK couldn’t resist playing in the water feature at the park!
The Princess loves sweets, just like her PJ! She always asks if I have her a treat. And treat means…something sweet! I am not the only culprit who provides “healthy” snacks. Emma has her Da trained to always have chocolate milk available and he makes certain we have it at our house because he knows she will ask for it, first thing upon arrival!
I had promised EK that I would take her shopping the week before her birthday. We had the best time choosing some cute outfits, toys, and play shoes. Shopping makes a Princess hungry, Chick fil-A to the rescue. After lunch we were tired and a nap was in order, but first we read a couple of her favorite books. It was the sweetest day making memories with Emma!
Thank you for indulging this grandmother. Warning: Wyatt has a late April birthday with Ella Mae following in mid-May.
I always enjoy your visits and your thoughtful comments. Be sure to come back tomorrow for a Spring/Easter Tablescape Blog Hop!

This doesn’t seem possible. Boy, where did that time go, and look how she has evolved from very cute baby to adorable little girl. I love that you two went shopping together for her birthday. She’s a doll and I am so glad you get to share her (and her sibs) with us! (And on a purely selfish note, I’m just the tiniest bit jealous you have girls to play with, so it’s extra fun to see all the cuteness of girly things! More fun than trucks!)
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Jeanie, we only had a son. Having two little girls has been so sweet. Now I do love our little boy, just as I know how much you love yours. It is fun to buy girly things!

Happy Birthday Princess Emma! She is an absolute doll, and how much fun you had a special shopping day with her for her birthday! Isn’t is a blessing that you live so close and can see them all grow right before your eyes…when I started blogging in 2012 Super Boy was 4, and Big E was 4 months, when I look back at those photos I can hardly believe it, they grow up so fast…This year CC asked me for clothes instead of toys for her birthday, it was a happy/sad moment! All your photos are just beautiful, and the hand stitched quilts made by your mother are family treasures indeed!

Love your photos, Pam. That Emma is adorable. Our granddaughters are a little ahead of yours in age: 13, 9, and 5. These are the memory-making years for later when they’re off to college!

I so enjoy reading your posts every week. Each one is so thoughtfully done. This post made my heart sing. I am a Grandma too with a 6 year old granddaughter. Our granddaughter has been our Princess when she began talking. She loves everything Princess, Fairies and Unicorns. I especially enjoyed this post as I can identify with the special bond that we Grandma’s have with our sweetest Grand Babies. All of your photos of your Precious little Emma are so sweet. I know she brings you the greatest Joy! I am tickled that there is another Grandma out there that loves to read books to her grandchildren. I started collecting books for my Grands long before they were born. I love to read to them and it is the perfect time to cuddle. Once our Granddaughter said “I want to go in the book” as I was reading to her. (Big Smile!) I believe reading to our little Wonders help with their imaginations. Thank you for sharing Emma’s photos from her first three years. It has been a blessing watching her and her sister and brother grow in your blog. Emma is an adorable little girl and a most Precious little Princess in her dress and crown. What a fun Belle Princess birthday party she had!!!! Beautiful Mrs. Potts Teapot birthday cake! I loved that idea. I am looking forward to your Wyatt and Ella Mae’s birthday posts. You are so kind to share your beautiful Grandchildren with us!
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Debbie, your sentiments warm my heart. From one grandmother to another, we understand that our time is precious and we don’t want to waste any of it. I love what your little Princess said, she must really love books. Today, we read Beatrix Potter…Peter Rabbit, Flopsy, Mopsy, and Cottontail. Wishing you many precious moments and memories with your grandchildren ❤️
