“But he was pierced for our transgressions; he was crushed for our iniquities; upon him was the chastisement that brought us peace, and with his wounds we are healed. All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned—every one—to his own way; and the Lord has laid on him the iniquity of us all.”
Isaiah 53:5-6
Have a Blessed Easter!
Of all the dogwoods blooming nearby, one particular tree I’ve discovered has the largest and most unique blooms. To me, these really do appear “cross-like”!
Our only azalea is probably at least 35 years old. It had become so overgrown and out of sorts that I decided to cut it back to the ground a few years ago. Thinking it would not return, we were prepared to plant a new one or replace it with something else. To our surprise, not only has it returned, but has grown to be very large again and is blooming beautifully this season!
This was a rare treat for us last week as we do not see the indigo bunting very often. This male dropped by for a visit. They are in the cardinal family.
We were honestly concerned that the only kwanzan cherry on our place would not bloom at all this season. It seemed that nothing was happening and then in a matter of 2 or 3 days, the tree burst forth with life…perfect for Easter weekend!
The girls were anxious to get this “photo thing” done and move on to the egg hunt. The weather was great on Good Friday and we all enjoyed hiding and hunting eggs in the garden. Little brother, a couple of weeks shy of his first birthday, was laid back concerning the entire event.
Our hosta looks its best in the spring, especially in the early going. I need to relocate because it doesn’t do well when the weather heats up. I think it gets too much sun at this spot since I trimmed the nearby birch that provides some shade.
Christmas colors on Easter? I couldn’t pass this up as the cardinal was hanging out under the new growth of the coral bark maple!
We have a favorite “wisteria” spot that allows us to get really close as long as we are willing to climb an embankment! Like many other plants, it’s been a little behind schedule this spring.
When the cherry came forth it didn’t mess around… making quite a statement!
My grandmother would’ve called this a brown thrasher. I suppose the correct name is thrush. I like thrasher because they thrash around with their feet, displacing bark, mulch or whatever is on the ground… just doing what it takes to get a decent meal! This one was guilty of spreading bark all over the sidewalk.
Wishing everyone a peaceful, pleasant, and safe week!

Thank you, Clara. It is pouring rain as we are driving to church! ✝️💜
Beautiful photos, Pam. The photo of the girls is precious. And I do see a cross in the dogwood blooms; amazing. Love and Happy Easter to all.
Thank you, my friend!
Such fabulous photos, I love that wisteria!! My azaleas are starting their annual show too. I have lots of hostas, and yes they need mostly shade all day. Maybe you can relocate it to a shady spot, they are great for filling in where nothing else will grow. Spring is such a beautiful time of year. Happy Easter!
Thank you, Carole! Azaleas are alway so pretty!
Happy Easter to you and your family. I hope it is as beautiful as your surroundings.
Thank you for your kind words, Karen!

Thank you, Ellen. Wishing you a joy-filled week!
Dear friends, today I realized the reality of the moment. It’s been a long time since I had my arm accident…How could it have been so long!!! And I realized when I saw the photo of the girls… My God!!! they are so old!!!!
Yes, it has been a long time and many things. One of them is having been so long without being able to enjoy the wonder of your posts.
Life goes on and provides us with these beautiful flowers that are the miracle of nature that God gives us every year.
A big hug and my affection.
Abrazos,
Pam
I thought of ya’ll as we drove through Alabama last week going to a family wedding in Kentucky. Because of your Sunday posts I was much more aware of all the trees and flowers as we traveled. We left Kentucky for North Carolina. It was especially interesting to see how spring was at different stages.
I hope you enjoyed your trip and it is interesting to see the spring stages in different areas.
Stunning post, perfect for Easter! Made me smile! Happy Easter! Adorable grands!
Thank you my friend!
Beautiful passages from the Bible. He is risen!
Amen, Judy!
Praying we are all renewed, yet transformed by the beauty and miracle of this day. Today ‘s photos are so wonderful to behold….oh the wisteria, the dogwood (the tip of each petal of the cross supposed to replicate
a spot of the Lord’s blood) and the cherry blossoms…Our cherry tree is bursting in all its glory. I glory in the
birds and how beautifully posed you have captured them. The highlight is the beautiful little royals all ready
for the egg hunt, looking demure and festive. He has risen and lives in us, if we but embrace His will for our lives…
therein rests peace and the fulfillment of His promise. Blessings of this wondrous day.
Amen and thanks so much. dear one! Have a wonderful week.

Happy Easter Pam & Butch! You were smart to have your egg hunt on Good Friday, we had ours inside yesterday, and it wasn’t nearly as exciting! I love seeing all the beautiful Spring blooms and happy birds! Have a great week, looks like no rain for a while!
Jenna
Thank you, Jenna. The sun is finally out today! Enjoy your week!
Good morning, Pam and Butch. This post was a perfect spring and Easter visit. The indigo bunting is spectacular. Our rural areas and mountains have them in abundance. They are such a treat to enjoy. I imagine the girls had such a grand time hunting eggs. Your garden would provide many hiding places. We had a lovely day yesterday with gorgeous blue skies and around 52. Today, we have rain and cold with snow showers on tap for tomorrow. The beauty of spring in the mountains.
Thank you, Sandra. It was our first sighting of an Indigo Bunting. Hopefully, we will have more. Happy Tuesday!
Beautiful Pam and Butch. You are so lucky to have these beautiful blooming trees on your property. Thanks for sharing the beauty. Happy Spring, friends!
Thank you, Sarah. Have a wonderful week, my friend!
This is beautiful Pam and Butch – spring at it finest! Here in Calgary, old man winter is hanging on for all he’s worth; there is snow in the forecast for tonight, so what a treat to see all those beautiful trees flowering. And the indigo bunting – I’ve never seen one before – what a brilliant color (as is the cardinal). I hope you had a wonderful Easter and the girls had fun hunting for eggs!
Thank you, Kim! It was our first sighting of an Indigo Bunting. I hope you see signs of spring soon.
The color of the indigo bunting is just stunning! I don’t recall ever seeing one in person. And the wisteria! I miss seeing that. We had so much of it growing in SC, but I don’t recall seeing it since we left there. The color is my absolute favorite. God bless you all!
Thank you, Cheryl. I also love the color of wisteria!
