Hello sweet friends and Happy Thursday! I hope everyone is having a wonderful week!
“Lord, you have been our dwelling place in all generations. Before the mountains were brought forth, or ever you had formed the earth and the world, from everlasting to everlasting you are God.”
Psalm 90:1-2
You might want to grab your sunglasses and I will provide a tall glass of sweet iced tea as we stroll through the garden. Let’s take a look at one of my favorite summer flowers…zinnias, the garden’s most colorful mix!
We have been planting zinnias from seeds for several years. This is our second year to order from Johnny’s Selected Seeds and once again I am well pleased.
Cactus flowered mix is new to our garden this year, I think the mix adds interest and I will definitely order this zinnia again!
This is the most unusual zinnia bloom! It appears that two have combined, maybe twins!
You might notice some leaves have been munched on…Japanese beetles have been somewhat of a pest this year. Not nearly as bad as they were a few years ago.
Zinnias love full sun and do well in our hot Alabama summers!
I love the bright colors of the cactus flowered mix!!
Zinnias are annuals, but we always have some appear from last season. They do not like to be transplanted, planting from seed produces a healthy and happy crop.
Deadheading greatly benefits zinnias as it promotes more blooms!
Zinnia is a genus of plants of the sunflower tribe within the daisy family. Members of the genus are notable for their solitary long-stemmed flowers that come in a variety of colors.
We were excited to see the return of the Eastern tiger swallowtails a few days ago. They were late coming last year and this year. They love zinnias!
The swallowtail doesn’t mind sharing with a honey bee!
Bumble bees also love zinnias, and so do hummingbirds. They are a pollinator’s paradise!
A few zinnia seeds were mixed with the cosmos seed by the head gardener!
“A butterfly, one summer day
Spoke to me as he fluttered my way
He asked me where the flowers were
And told me which he did prefer.
I pointed where the zinnias grew
He thanked me, and off he flew!
As I continued on my walk
I wondered, who taught him to talk!”
-Joseph May
I hope you have enjoyed our walk through the zinnias. Thank you for your visit and gracious comments. Wishing you a most delightful day!

Such a beautiful mix of colors and varieties! I admire Zinnias more because of your posts. I had never had much experience with them before. Although I rarely mention it, the quotes and many times, the verses, always speak to me! Love and hugs, Pam, for always brightening my day! 🌸 💛🤗🙏🏻
Thank you, Karla. It warms my heart that it brightens your day. Zinnias give a lot of bang for the buck. Love and prayers 💛🙏🏻🥰
You’re welcome, Pam. 💛🤗🥰
The head gardener did a fantastic job! Color color color. Simply beautiful.
The head gardener is definitely a keeper. Wishing you a wonderful day, Alice!
They are magical blooms! I love their resilience to the elements, and will likely plant some next year. Yours are beautiful!
Thank you, Rita. I highly recommend planting zinnias!
Just gorgeous. I love the “unique” one. It looks like it is smiling. Your posts always light up my life.
Thanks so much, Bobbie. It is always a pleasure to visit with you. Wishing you a lovely Thursday!
Pam, Your zinnias are so plentiful and healthy. They make me happy! Gorgeous colors! Stay cool my friend! Clara❤️
Thanks so much, Clara. You stay cool, also ♥️
Simply beautiful. Love the cactus variety also. Zinnias have a way of brightening a day and the butterflies love them!
Thanks so much, Dianne!
Pam, such a pleasure to see your colorful Zinnias. We used to have some years ago. Love seeing the return of the Swallowtail butterfly. The head gardener does beautiful work. I wish we would get rain during summer months, so the plants get ready to drink.
Thanks, Linda! I can’t even imagine not getting rain during the summer.
Pam, your zinnias remind me of my mother. It was her favorite flower and she always had a zinnia patch! I keep promising myself I will plant some seeds but then I forget about it…making a note in my day timer NOT to forget for next year. thank you for sharing your lovely garden.
Blessings
Kari
I love reading that zinnias remind you of your mothers. They are easy to grow and offer lots of bouquets! Enjoy your day!
Your zinnias also remind me of my mother! I love all your varieties and colors. I love zinnias. Y’all do a great job growing them. Your photos are excellent.
Thanks so much, Bonnie. Wishing you a lovely weekend!
Pam, your zinnias look so happy! I love they give such a great reward for such a small investment. I’m having to really keep up with watering mine in this heat. Whew!
Thank you, Roxanne. I was so happy we received rain yesterday afternoon. Enjoy your day!
Just wonderful…Breathtaking! Hugs and blessings.
Thank you, Maristella!
Such loveliness, oh how I love Zinnias! They are by far my favorite flower and they make a beautiful bouquet.
The unique one is quite happy as it is smiling.
Now you know I would enjoy the cactus variety… it’s beautiful!
My zinnias were eaten by a bunny… so hopefully I’ll plant some in a container in AZ when I get back. We shall see. Until then I’ll just admire yours!
Enjoy your day my friend!
Thank you, Nancy. We had some leftover seeds that Butch planted for a second crop, and the bunnies ate the tender little plants. I was so disappointed. They have also eaten the tender shoots of our second crop of sunflowers. They are so cute, but not when they are munching on my garden. Happy Friday!
Oh I’m so sorry… I know how you feel.
I was at a farmers market and enjoyed sunflower sprouts. They were selling them for salads etc. They were quite tasty… so I know why the bunnies like them too. 🙃
I don’t think I have ever tasted sunflower sprouts!
They were quite tasty!
Beautiful Pam! Your zinnia collage looks like it could be from a nursery catalog! We threw out some some seeds that I managed to keep safe from the bunnies that are just starting to bloom. Happy Friday. ♥
Mary, I am so glad you could keep them safe from the bunnies! Happy Friday!
Oh Pam, such stunning photos! My paint brush is itching! Love all the different colors and shapes of these sweet flowers, they are so happy! Beautiful!
Jenna
I so enjoyed my walk through the zinnias. They are absolutely gorgeous! So many pretty colors to see. We battled the Japanese Beetles as well. They tried to eat everything in sight. I had to use Sevn dust to get rid of them. Thank goodness they are finally gone. I hope you have a most wonderful weekend, dear friend!
Thank you for joining me in the garden, sweet friend! Happy Weekend!
Definitely the sunglasses! That’s such one bright blaze of color! Zinnias are so fabulous — one of my favorite summer flowers. You have so many wonderful varieties!
Thank you, Jeanie! Have a lovely weekend!
Your zinnias are beautiful. I love the pictures of the butterflies!
Thank you, Penny!
I absolutely love zinnias, too. They are among my favorites! You are so blessed to have them growing near you that you can see them often. I had to pin a couple of your photos with the butterflies! SO beautiful. I am so thankful you share your beautiful life with us here!
Thank you sweet friend.
Pam, your zinnias are gorgeous! I never knew they came in some many different colors and varieties. Love the cactus one and the twin one but all are beautiful. And its even better that the butterflies, bees, and hummingbirds love them as well, and all are such great pollinators. I suspect the zinnias would not do well here in Calgary, so it is a pleasure to partake vicariously. Thank you for sharing your beautiful pictures and wishing you a lovely week!
You’ve inspired me! I love zinnias, and now I’m wishing I’d taken the time to plant some this spring. I’ll remember this next year!
Thanks so much for joining the Grace at Home party at Imparting Grace. I’m featuring you this week!
Thank you, Richella. I love zinnias, they provide so much color until frost.
