“Great are the works of the Lord, studied by all who delight in them. Full of splendor and majesty is his work, and his righteousness endures forever.”
Psalm 111:2-3
I can dream of numerous enjoyable things to do sitting in this spot, and most would include food! The Swag hosts popular picnics here twice each week but on this day I had it all to myself. We shared a lot of mountain pics in posts last week, but today I just had to include a few more!
This dahlia could stand alone in its beauty but the rustic background only makes it that much better!
It is rare for PJ and me to be treated to such an awesome breakfast. A Swag breakfast is the best. The grits are amazing and the cheddar biscuits and eggs…what can I say. PJ had a bowl filled with yogurt and house made granola sitting on the table so we could appear to be eating healthy. It didn’t go to waste however, and yes, I had sweet iced tea with every meal!
I thought this gourd vine added a lot of interest to the garden. We are thinking about finding a place around home to try our hand at growing gourds next year.
This little man loves all things outdoors and he wants to ride on anything and everything that has wheels. One look with those eyes will get him a ride every time!
This is the ideal spot to settle in after eating that breakfast! I sure want one of these in our yard!
The climate at 5,000 feet must be perfect for dahlias. We don’t have too much success with them in our garden. Pam had a neat post last week featuring The Swag’s mountain garden. If you missed it I invite you to join her
here.
Meanwhile back at home, our first color starting to appear on one of our pumpkins. EM and EK helped plant them back in early June. I am seeing a lot of blooms but not so many pumpkins? After doing a little research I am thinking we are lacking pollination. This is our first try with pumpkins and hopefully a good learning experience. The girls will be excited if there’s only one (but there are a few more).
I am thinking some of our local birds are trying to trick hens into thinking it is spring again. I don’t believe it will work!
Many of you deal with all kinds of wildlife making themselves at home eating your garden vegetables, flowers, and shrubbery, and so do we. Some of you may remember a pic from a recent Sunday post where raccoons were eating our tomatoes. If that’s not enough, we can’t even escape animals when it comes to the weeds that are popping up in our garden. This is horseweed…
…and then there’s hogwort, sometimes called goatweed. Oh well!
At least the lantana and zinnias have succeeded in crowding out the weeds…so far!
In past years the hosta in the front garden has struggled and either not bloomed or had few blooms. This season has been an exception as some of the surrounding shrubs and trees are possibly providing a bit more shade.
A crescent moon managed to shine through the breaking clouds just after sunset. This was also an evening last week that produced some awesome rainbows in the late afternoon. God’s promises will never be broken!
I will close out with a stroll along the lake at sundown. Wishing you a pleasant and safe week!

Lovely! I didn’t get a single squash this year despite loads of flowers. I got a brush to move the pollen around, but it didn’t help. Then borers got the plants. Oh, well.
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Yikes, no squash. There is always next year!

A lovely post. Don’t let the prince know those eyes have control over you, just tell him you need to take a break! Have a blessed week.
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Thank you, Bobbie. It is hard to resist those blue eyes! Wishing you a joy-filled week!

Thank you for the beautiful pictures and verses! Please let me know what camera that y’all use. My husband wants to get a camera update.
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Thanks so much. Our camera is older, but it is still doing the job. It is a Canon EOS Rebel T5i. Enjoy your week!

Beautiful shots! That baby boy has gorgeous eyes! Hopefully you’ll have enough pumpkins to decorate in areas and make the girls happy. Our zinnias in the back really did poorly so we’re going to have to change locations. The deer ate some of the ones in the front so it’s challenging. The ones they left in the front are doing well. The Swag is a beautiful place to visit. The breakfast looks delicious. Thanks for taking us along. Happy Sunday! Clara❤️
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Thank you, Clara. Gardening has been rather unusual this year for us. Wishing you a delightful week.

What a treasury of impressions of your sojourn at the Swag. That breakfast is a humdinger..
Butch, your sunset shots are always impressive and captivating. Speaking of captivating…those baby blues of the Prince…”trailing in clouds of glory do we come from God which is our home….” his eyes really speak of it…. Here is hoping the pumpkin harvest will thrill the girls and top off the
whole wholesome experience to reaping and sowing….A blessed Sabbath to all.

Oh, that rainbow! Yes, praise God, His promises will never be broken! What a comfort that is to me in these trying, unstable times. Our God will never change. My dear Mom used to always say that there are three things God cannot do: He can’t change, He can’t lie, and He can’t fail. So thankful we can fling ourselves at His mercies in full assurance that He is solid and will never let us go.
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Thank you, Cheryl. Amen, God is the same, yesterday. today, and tomorrow!

Happy Sunday! Pam, is your RM inspired to build one of those rustic gazebos?!? Dahlias and Wyatt’s blue eyes…both are showstoppers. And what a perfect rainbow. Lots of dark clouds and thunder rumblings here, but not one drop of rain has fallen on my poor yard this week.
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Roxanne, he would love to build some of the rustic pieces, knowing him, he will. We have had the same weather that you described. Enjoy your week!

Yes all Gods works should be studied by man. They are perfect and we aren’t. Butch you should make the swing for you and PJ to relax in at the end of a day. And I bet that blue eyed grand boy would love to swing in it. He looks so much like Seth! Those weeds, knowing you and PJ were on vacation, took off!
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Thank you, Alice. I would love to have a swing like that.
How are you doing? Sending love.

Enjoying Sundays with you is always such a treat. Speaking of hostas, they are all over our yard in a number of varieties and blooming like crazy. I enjoy them now but dread all the trimming when the blooms are gone.
