Happy Tuesday, sweet friends. It has really felt like fall the last couple of days with lows in the high 30’s and highs in the low 70’s!
“A joyful heart is good medicine, but a crushed spirit dries up the bones.”
Proverbs 17:22
I am excited to join twenty talented table stylists for a Halloween Tablescape Blog Hop hosted by my lovely friend, Rita from Panoply. You will find the links for all the creative tablescapes at the bottom of this post!
When I think of the Halloweens of my childhood, I always think orange and black. These days there are many options, but I continue the tradition!
If you are a long-time reader, you know we live out in the country on about 22 acres. We have access and enjoy 250 undeveloped acres that join our property. With this untamed forest, there are lots of animals that visit us on a daily basis…deer, opossums, raccoons, turkeys, dreadful armadillos, stinky skunks, bobcats, coyotes, squirrels, rabbits, and an occasional sly fox. Some of our “non-critter” visitors include bald eagles, blue herons, and for two summers, a peacock hung around a number of weeks. Where the peacock came from, we haven’t a clue!
With no particular theme in mind, I was perusing Hobby Lobby when I saw a set of darling plates. Immediately I thought “critter” plates! Critters are the name I have given to all our uninvited guests! There are four different Robert Stanley plates. While shopping for treats at Dollar Tree, I happened upon some cute felt critters. The little fox sits slyly upon a pumpkin!
The critters came dressed for the party! Miss Fox is wearing stylish glasses adorned with an orange leaf and a green leaf.
I lined up three large orange pumpkins for the centerpiece, one for each of our grandchildren. A turkey wearing his autumn plaids is feeling rather dapper!
The pumpkins on each end are nestled on boa feathers. Little girls love to play dress up! The Sunshine Cottage shown in the background is dressed for autumn!
Black and white checked chargers, orange dinner plates, “critter” salad plates, twig flatware, and vintage hobnail glasses complete each setting.
The girls love cupcakes (and so does their Da)!
Orange flavored Hawaiian Punch definitely satisfies a sweet tooth and quenches “little ones” thirst! The grands love candy corn, just like their PJ! The trick or treat sign at the end of the table is a holdover from No Tricks, Only Treats!
A wise owl is nesting on the pumpkin!
Miss Owl is wearing two fashionable orange leaves for ears!
“There is a child in everyone of us who is still a trick-or-treater looking for a brightly lit front porch.”
~Robert Brault
The smiling hedgehog is wearing a red and green leafy tiara with berries. The spiny hedgehog is not native to North America. At least I don’t have to worry about visits from this critter!
Rice Krispie treats are always a hit!
Chex Mix, candy corn drizzled popcorn, autumn mix, and M&M’s is a sweet and salty treat for all ages!
The happy raccoon is wearing a bright yellow sunflower!
The Jack-o-lantern finial made a return appearance!
My sweet granddaughters were spending the night with their other grandmother and were not here when I set the table and photographed. They would have been in the middle of everything and asked a million questions. However, little brother was here and was not one bit interested in the table. Instead, he chose to play trucks in the dirt with Da. The girls visited the next day and did enjoy the best part…treats!

You know I’m fond of critters Pam and your table is just adorable! I love your plates featuring a fox, raccoon, hedgehog and owl framed by the bright orange and black and white buffalo check! Such cute felt critters from Dollar Tree perched on your pumpkins too. Love the Trick or Treat banner in your window and your sweet treats your grand girls enjoyed. As always it’s a treat to join you at the table and hop with you. Happy Tuesday! 🎃🧡
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Thank you, Mary. It is fun when a theme comes together without even a plan!
Maria says
I looove your critter plates! They are adorable. I also love the other components you used on the table. This is fun for the kids without being your typical Halloween table. Although I put together a couple of spooky Halloween tables for my kids, this s actually more to my taste. Nicely done!
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Thank you, Maria. I guess (for me) I am not into spooky. Have a wonderful Tuesday!
Nancy says
All the critters are adorable. The critter plates and the felt critters make me smile.

Pam, although I know you don’t care for the spooky side of Halloween (I have fallen off the deep end this time, lol), I am so glad you participate and come up with good fun for the occasion. The critter plates and candied treats are so perfect for staying true to yourself and for thrilling the grandchildren! I laughed at the fact WL could care less and the girls would be asking so many questions. So very typical, and too cute! And hey, these two adults in this house would LOVE to be at that table and snag little bites right from the table, as well as those Rice Krispie treats and chex mix – they look amazing! I bet the kids – big and small – loved those!. Perfect finds at DT to add to the mix of critters, and I see you found three. 😉 I love the views into the garden, Sunshine Cottage from the table. Thank you for bringing the joy of Halloween to us!
Pam @ Everyday Living says
You know me well, Rita. I do enjoy participating. Thanks for all you do!
Ricki Treleaven says
What an adorable table in a gorgeous setting! First of all, the critter plates are the very cutest. I do love them, and I like how they are prettied-up for autumn with their tiaras and leaf barrettes! The white hobnail glasses are so pretty, and they look great with the plates, too. The autumn mix and Rice Crispy Treats are colorful (and I’m sure delicious)! 😀
I enjoyed reading about your property and all the visits you have from local wildlife. I’m sure they bring you joy (for the most part, lol).
Happy October!
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Thank you, Ricki Jill. It is a never ending battle with the animals, we are expecting to see a black bear. There have been several sightings in our area. Yikes!!
Kris@Junkchiccottage says
Good Morning Pam. Your Critter theme is fabulous. Love the colors and the cute plates you found at Hobby Lobby. How blessed you are to be surrounded by the acres of land and all the life that lives there. I know they can be annoying sometimes but how lucky you are to see some of their beauty. Wishing you a great new week ahead. xoxo Kris
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Thank you, Kris! We do love living in the country. Happy week to you!
Kari says
Pam your table is so perfectly framed by your beautiful Fall landscaping! It looks like it should be on a magazine cover. (The Sunshine Cottage pic is adorable too) I love critters and yours featured on your plates are actually better than the live ones who wander onto your property from time to time. I confess I love candy corn…as well as orange slices, rice crispy treats and well anything sweet and would live to sit with you and your grands making decisions as to what to eat next.
I have that same tablecloth and it always makes me think of crisp Autumn air and cozy camp fires.
Thanks for sharing another of your unique tables, you are so inspiring and original in your concepts. (I would love to have your decor selections)
Have a great and wonderful day my dear sister in Christ.
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Thank you, dear one. You all remain in my prayers!

Pam, this table is so much fun! Those plates are adorable, and the critters are precious sitting on top of the pumpkins. I can relate to all of your visiting critters. Like you, I love the traditional Halloween colors of orange and black. All of the treats look scrumptious especially the trail mix. I saw sweet Wyatt’s photo of him playing in the dirt on your Sunday post. It reminded me of my boys when they were little. Oh, how I miss those days! It was so much fun to visit your Halloween table. Happy Tuesday, dear friend!
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Thank you, Shannon. Like you, I am no into the scary, just sweet treats and fun! Wishing you a wonderful week, sweet friend!

Thank you, Pinky. I found the jack-o-lantern finial at Hobby Lobby several years ago. I wish I had bought two of them. The feather boas came from Dollar Tree a few years ago.

Pam, I think the siting of a bobcat would be enough for me to take up and move!! Those plates are darling, and I adore the little turkey all bundled up in plaid. He would fit right in here in the north! I love watching the wonder of Halloween through the little one’s eyes, and what a blessing for you to share in it with your grandchildren! No matter what theme I choose each year, I always have a few orange pumpkins to carve into spooky and fun jack-o-lanterns as I love the tradition at heart! A pleasure joining the hop with you today.
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Thanks so much, Maureen. Bobcats rarely come close to humans. But, of course they are wild. At least we haven’t seen a bear, yet! We are carving jack-o-lanterns this afternoon with the grands. Happy Weekend!

Alycia Nichols says
I am SO with you on the traditional Halloween colors! It’s nostalgic, and it takes me back to a happy childhood when Halloween was fun and always a big part of the fall season. It got me thinking about my Mom and Dad “checking our candy for foreign objects” when they were really blatantly pilfering!😂😂😂
I saw those plates at Hobby Lobby and wanted to buy them. I should have. You’ve made them look so great!
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Thank you, Alycia!
