Hello sweet friends. I hope your week is going well. It has been a busy week around our house. RM completed the fire pit and we are planning on having our first fire and s’mores this weekend!
“So teach us to number our days that we may get a heart of wisdom.”
Psalm 90:12
I think I am getting slower in accomplishing tasks. Can you relate? It is almost the middle of October and I have not finished fall decorating in the cottage. Come inside and have a look at what I have completed.
Playing with dishes has become a hobby since the cottage was built. The shelves give me the opportunity to display seasonal dishware.
These shelves are on the right side of the center window. You all know I love my Daddy’s old Underwood typewriter and it has been a mainstay on the counter.
Back over to the left side, the beautiful MacKenzie-Childs flower market vase takes center stage on the shelf. Its colors just speak autumn! You can see it in use here.
The Vietri leaf dish always comes out of hiding for the fall season! An autumn mix of potpourri gives off a heavenly fragrance when you open the door!
I brought a few pumpkins inside to enjoy. The jewel box squirrel is busy with ‘acorn hiding’, just like the dozens of squirrels around our house.
I took a little time to sit down and enjoy hot chocolate and an almond orange biscotti. You might notice there is a tree behind the chair. I began decorating it for autumn, but I ran out of decor and have yet to get back to Hobby Lobby to get more. The mug was a gift from EM for my birthday last year! When she walked into the cottage, she said, “PJ, why do you already have a Christmas tree?”
The dishware is vintage Harvest Time by Johnson Brothers and stemware is Jamestown by Fostoria. A majolica pitcher, Royal Stafford transferware, and Granny Smith apples add complementary colors. The counter space has stacks of books that I rotate from the house to the cottage. I find that retreating to the cottage gives me time to read. Of course I have treats for the grands and me!
Majolica dinner plates and dessert/salad leaf plates, still life pumpkin plates, and faux leaves adorn the shelves. A doll chair, tole tray, pumpkins, and more books sit on the counter. I removed the silver coffee/tea service because it desperately needs polishing. That is one chore that I don’t enjoy!
“Winter is an etching, spring a watercolor, summer an oil painting and autumn a mosaic of them all”
~Stanley Horowitz
Last Saturday the girls spent the afternoon with me. After I served them snacks we played in the cottage. All of the playing made three year old EK tired and she fell asleep on the floor. EM and I snuggled in the comfy chair as she read to me. She is six and is reading everything she picks up. Her sweet Mommy is an excellent teacher.
Thank you for your visit and gracious comments. Wishing you a joy-filled day!

Pam, good seeing pic of you & your sweet Mom, “Miss” Shirley, in a pic.💗💗 Good to know Mr. Coy’s able to be@home.💙
Loved reading blog today. Like seeing Mr. Coy’s typewriter.
I’ve only seen white Queen Anne’s Lace. Mother taught me to dye it with food-coloring. My Grands enjoy doing that.
Happy fall ya’ll! Appalachian Mountains, your front-door view, breathtakingly gorgeous past 2 wks. 🦌🍂🧡🐿💚🦉💛🍁🦇🤎🍃🦃

Thank you, Ann. Your comments warm my heart. I miss seeing you♥️

Your cottage looks so cheery and festive with all your autumnal touches Pam! I love giving seasonal dishes their due and chance to shine when they’re normally tucked away in cabinets. You have such a wonderful spot to read, slow down and enjoy the season with your grands. October is slipping away!! I can definitely relate to getting slower and I find it harder to stay on task as I age…maybe I need medication. 🙂 Happy Thursday. ♥

Mary, our favorite season is passing too quickly. Happy Thursday 🎃

Sunshine Cottage looks beautiful dressed for fall! Your Johnson Brothers china and majolica makes a very pretty autumn display on the open shelving. I always love seeing how you change the display each season. I just polished my silver last week. I agree that is not a fun chore. I adore the idea of putting up a fall tree. What a lovely addition to the cottage! Wishing you a most happy day, sweet friend!
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Thank you, Shannon. I am glad to know that I am not the only one that doesn’t enjoy polishing silver. Happy weekend. sweet friend!

You’re not as behind as I am! I don’t have one fall thing up, apart from a used front door wreath. It’ll happen. But I might miss Halloween! Meanwhile, your cottage is just darling. Don’ t you just adore Johnson Brothers’ designs? They are one of my favorites!
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Thank you, Jeanie. I do love Johnson Brothers. Have a wonderful weekend!

I love the Sunshine Cottage! That doll chair on the shelf grabbed my attention today, and I love all the china displayed. I also love how the girls like to get cozy inside. A dream come true.
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Thank you, Rita. Butch gave me the most precious gift when he had the cottage built.
Alice Genzlinger says
Has RM builds you a place to store all the dishes and treasures?
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Alice, I cannot buy any more dishes. But, I probably will!

Pam, That little leopard chair is adorable! I don’t recall seeing it before. The Fall decorations are so pretty. That little squirrel is just too cute! The Sunshine Cottage is so inviting. I can see the girls snuggled in and enjoying a good book. Enjoy your day. Clara❤️

Love the pillow and matching tablecloth too!
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Thank you, Clara. April Cornell sent to me♥️
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Thank you, Clara. I normally keep the leopard doll chair in the house. Since I didn’t have time to polish the silver. I thought the chair would work in that space.♥️

The world is a place of beauty, but for some reason, when we throw in an old typewriter, magic sparkles appear!
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Yes, an old typewriter does bring about magic!

I love your Daddy’s old typewriter and how you continue to enjoy it all seasons. The Sunshine Cottage is such a special place for you and the girls, and how much fun to have this spot to display your dishes and enjoy them. I looks Fall finished to me! A seasonal tree is so much fun to have, I enjoy mine at the beach house so much. So many pretties, it looks like a gift shop!

In love with your sunshine cottage Pam…and your Fall decor is amazing.
Yes, I can relate to getting slower and I might add, not feeling the need to always decorate. Yikes! Did I just say that out loud???
Am I just another ‘fake blogger’, like ‘fake news’? LOL
Seriously, I have slowed down so much that it really feels good and I don’t feel the need for speed, so to speak. Don’t get me wrong, I love to see seasonal decor…just maybe not so much as I used to.
I used to put up 9-11 Christmas trees, but after being sick, I just don’t see myself doing that anymore.
Your grands are your inspiration…to see the Hollidays through their eyes is so joyful. I wish mine lived closer, you are truly Blessed my friend.
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Thank you, Kari. I totally understand. The cottage (12×16) gives me an opportunity to decorate seasonally and can you believe I do very little in the house except for Christmas. As we get older our priorities definitely shift. We are so thankful to have our grands living a golf cart away. Happy Friday, my sweet friend!

Pam, I can’t tell you how much I love your cottage and seeing how you decorate throughout the seasons. Fall is my favorite time of year, so I especially enjoy your dish display and decor. Having a place for you and your granddaughters to play is icing on the cottage “cake”! Amber and I would love for you to come and link up at All About Home on Monday evenings. Have fun and take care. Thanks so much, Debra. The small cottage is a wonderful playhouse for my grandchildren and me. Happy Weekend!

I always love seeing inside the cottage. What a lovely, cozy place!
Not to be a Debbie Downer but we do move slower as we age. I’m 76 and I still cannot get use to how long it takes me to do the simplest household task. Also, how tired I am after.😩
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Thank you, Nancy. Yes, I can no longer accomplish tasks with break neck speed as I used to!

Your cottage looks so warm and inviting! And I can just smell the fall potpourri. I love the typewriter! Wishing you a wonderful fall season!

The Autumn Feels in your Sunshine Cottage are a delight to my eyes. I am enjoying your Fall decor. I love how your bring out your seasonal dishes and decorate with them in the Cottage.
Sadly, I did not do much here as I thought we were going to be in AZ by now. But some unexpected twists and turns have us in Pennsylvania a bit longer. It’s okay… we have the most amazing colors of Fall all around us!
Happy Thursday dear Pam!

Autumn at Sunshine Cottage ala Pam the uber-talented stage-setter. It just beckons a peaceful turn at a good book, cocoa and ahhh biscotti. Silvo polish from Great Britain, although requiring the elbow grease, leaves a lovely patina finish that lasts much longer than other polishes. Just love the the relationship that is
fostered by you with the girls in your own private get-away. RM has blessed you greatly. Happy weekend
with smores by the fire….

Thank you, Mary! The cottage makes me feel that I can slow down and relax. Sending love!

Yes, I know that ‘slowing down’ feeling all too well. From what I see in your lovely post, you’re still running circles of productivity around me. The Sunshine Cottage is so sweetly decorated and, in my humble opinion, in need of nothing else. I know, however, that you will continue playing with dishes and decorative things and somehow make the lovely lovelier. (BTW, I adore the doll chair with the leopard print fabric seat cover! What a sweet display pedestal.)
Enjoy those s’mores and your time around the fire pit!
Pam @ Everyday Living says
We had a wonderful time at the fire pit. The little doll chair has been in my family room for years and I decided it should stay in the cottage for a season!

I love your sweet post. Your cottage all decorated for fall is very pretty. I totally missed it. We were reeling from our friends unexpected death.
I had the busiest week ever last week so I am so glad this week I can rest. I am feeling the need to slow down.
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Thank you, Bonnie. I can’t ever seem to find a time to slow down. We are taking a little vacation next week, can’t wait. I am glad your week will slow down.

Thanks so much, Pamela for following. I haven’t ever done a storage post, but I probably should. Happy November!
