Hello dear friends and Happy Tuesday. Thanksgiving is a little over two weeks away. Have you finalized your plans?
“Enter his gates with thanksgiving, and his courts with praise! Give thanks to him; bless his name! For the Lord is good; his steadfast love endures forever, and his faithfulness to all generations.”
Psalm 100:4-5
Today I am excited to join seventeen table stylists to bring you a Thanksgiving Tablescape Blog Hop hosted by my friend, Rita @ Panoply!
Thanksgiving has always been one of my favorite holidays because it is about gathering around our table laden with abundant food, and joining hands with family as we give thanks to our Heavenly Father for His gracious gifts and blessings.
You will find links for the creative stylists at the bottom of this post.
I love traditions that have been passed down and those that I have begun during our almost 50 years of marriage. From my very first memories up until my beloved mother passed away, every holiday was spent at the home of my parents. She never allowed my sister-in-love or me to prepare any of the food. Not only was every holiday spent around my Mother’s table, but also Sunday lunch every week. The only exception to the holidays began four years before my beloved Mother passed away, when I decided to start hosting Thanksgiving at our home. We had just completed a new kitchen addition and I was excited to have my family for Thanksgiving dinner. I wanted my sweet Mother to be served and not to be serving us. Of course, she wouldn’t have it any other way but to cook the turkey and make her famous dressing!
My Mother made every holiday special and I do my best to continue her traditions. The Thanksgiving menu rarely changes! There will be turkey or ham, but I don’t really care for the meat, just bring on the sides!
Mother’s recipe for dressing (not stuffing) was never written down, but fortunately I watched her make it many, many times. The first Thanksgiving after her passing, my Daddy gave me the highest compliment when he said my dressing tasted just like hers. Butch will make his famous rosemary mashed potatoes, they are amazing! Sweet potato casserole, green bean Caesar, baked 4-cheese macaroni, broccoli salad, cranberry sauce from the can (my Daddy’s request), and homemade rolls complete the menu. Desserts will be hummingbird cake (my personal favorite) and pecan pies!
The Spode Woodland dinner plates always grace our Thanksgiving table. It is a tradition!
The Royal Stafford turkey salad/dessert plates were added a few years ago. They are a newer tradition and I use them to serve dessert!
The feather placemats were purchased for the first Thanksgiving at our home as well as the acrylic tortoise flatware and are a part of our Thanksgiving traditions.
“Thanksgiving was never meant to be shut up in a single day.”
~Robert Caspar Lintner
The plaid chargers were added within the last three or four years. The plate depicting a mallard duck is one of my favorites!
Tablecloths change from year to year and sometimes I decide to allow the bare wood to show in order to give warmth to our Thanksgiving table!
Eight different game birds are depicted on my Spode dinner plates. Each bird is illustrated in great detail and framed by Spode’s British flowers border which dates back to 1831.
Left to Right – Mallard, Red Grouse
Bottom Row – Lapwing, Wood Duck
Quail, Pheasant
Pintail, Snipe
I am often asked about the amber stemware. It was purchased for the first Thanksgiving hosted at our house from a local department store that is sadly now closed.
One element that always changes is the centerpiece. The very large charcuterie board (that I found at Blackberry Farm) was crafted in Europe using antique wood. It normally resides on our kitchen island but I do love to use it as a base for the dining room table centerpiece!
Pumpkins, antler sheds, foraged leaves and acorns make up the simple centerpiece! For a floral centerpiece, check out yesterday’s post, Living Every Day With Thanks.
The center peachy/pink pumpkin on the wooden cake stand is one that RM and the girls grew in their pumpkin patch! It has a place of honor on the table.

Pam, Not only is your table beautiful but your menu sounds mouth-watering! I can pass on the turkey and ham too, but pass the mash potatoes, dressing, mac ‘n cheese and broccoli salad my way. The green bean Caesar sounds divine and like a nice light departure from green bean casserole. I’ve always admired your Spode Woodland plates with the variety of images. I love them paired with the feather placemats and plaid chargers. Love your handsome board and harvest of natural elements for your centerpiece. Blackberry Farm is on my bucket list. As always, it’s a treat to join you at the table and hop with you. Happy Tuesday. ♥
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Thanks so much, Mary. I highly recommend Blackberry Farm. Have a lovely Thursday!
Bonnie Morgan says
Pam, how pretty and meaningful your Thanksgiving table is! I love hearing about your family traditions for Thanksgiving. Your menu sounds fabulous!
I know it is special this year to have your very own homegrown pumpkin as the center of attention in your centerpiece. How exciting for the kids to have had a part in planting and harvesting their pumpkins from their granddad and to learn about setting a table from their grandmother.
Your plate stack is very pretty. I love all the plate patterns and the plaid and feathered placemat.
All your quotes are meaningful.
Wishing your family the happiest of Thanksgivings. I enjoyed your post.
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Thank you, Bonnie. The girls were excited to see their pumpkin at the center of the table!
Roxanne Bernard says
Pam, I love hearing about your family traditions. My mama was such a wonderful cook and hostess too. The last few years she let Kelley and me take over the cooking also (under her very close supervision!). To this day I miss picking up the phone to ask her how to make something. We have dressing too! I love your charcuterie board on the table and the girls’ magnificent pumpkin!
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Thanks so much, Roxanne. I think our mothers would have been wonderful friends!
Alice Genzlinger says
Thanksgiving indeed! The bounty on your table and those gathered around it are blessings from above. “We gather together to ask the Lords blessings” That’s a song I love to play on Thanksgiving.
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Thank you, Alice. I love that song and seem to hum it every day during this season of Thanksgiving!
K.L. Hale says
This made me tear, Pam. I can “see” your precious Momma sitting at this amazing table. Undoubtedly, she’s smiling from above. There’s so much to love here I don’t know where to begin. The amber colors, the charcuterie board, the honored pumpkin, plaid and gorgeous plates…it all speaks of the precious love you have for traditions and your family. The menu made me hungry! I don’t have my Mom’s dressing recipe, but I help her tear the bread and could do my best to make it! I grew up with Sunday meals and Thanksgiving at Mom’s. You’re an honorary “Momma” to me! Thank you for sharing your traditions and beauty with us. I love you dearly! 💛 🦃 🍁🍂🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Karla, what a blessing to be an honorary Momma to you. That made me tear up. I just know our mothers would have been friends if they had ever met. Treasure every moment with your precious mom and family, and I know that you do. I love you, sweet friend 🧡🦃🍁🎶🙏🏻🧡
K.L. Hale says
Finley and I love you and agree. 💛🧡 🎶 🙏🏻🤗
K.L. Hale says
I sure will, Pam. Finn and I love you! 🧡💛💚

I love the Thanksgiving traditions, Pam, and your furthering those for your family is a true gift in and of itself. The meal alone (my mother’s stuffing was one never written down either, but we sisters have all managed to replicate it well) is a gift well received, but plating it all so beautifully really makes it something to anticipate. Your girls’ first pumpkin is stellar! What a beauty, and how special to elevate its position on the table. They will be so excited with that! I love those Spode dinner plates and the feather placemats especially, but the stems and flatware make it even more special. I can imagine the chatter, the oohs, ahhs, and mmms as everyone is seated and having their meal. Thanks so much for sharing your family traditions and beautiful home and table.
Pam @ Everyday Living says
I love sharing family traditions in hopes that those who read will begin their own if they haven’t. I love having my family seated around my table. Blessings to you and your family during this Thanksgiving season. Thank you for all you do to make the hops successful. I appreciate and applaud you, dearest Rita!
Carole @ From My Carolina Home says
Beautiful rich color on your table. Your menu does sound scrumptious, so great to have the memories of your mom. I have the same as we loved to cook together, and no holiday was as fun to do that as Thanksgiving.
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Thank you, Carole for sharing your memories of your mom!
marmeladegypsy says
I loved reading about your beautiful family traditions and your mom. I have the strongest memories of my mom at the holidays and all the cooking and such! And, like you, I make her stuffing (dressing, now!) and never had a written recipe — just eyes and helping hands for many years. How I would love to be in the kitchen to cook with her again! Your setting is gorgeous and I especially love your centerpiece (as always) and of course your beautiful china.
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Thank you, Jeanie for sharing precious memories of your mom. Memories and food go together!
Kris@Junkchiccottage says

Pam, your family traditions sounds wonderful. How we miss our parents. The plate stack with the feather placemats, plaid chargers, and Spode plates is lovely. I love Spode and their different versions. How special to have the girl’s pink pumpkin as a centerpiece. Using the charcuterie board is perfect with your warm, cozy table. The menu sounds so yummy. Wishing you and your family a blessed Thanksgiving. Always a pleasure joining you.
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Thanks so much, Linda. I am so grateful to still have my 92 year old dad. Blessings during this season of Thanksgiving!
Clara says
Pam, Love your table and traditions! My family would take turns hosting but my Mom’s dressing was usually front and center at the gatherings along with fried pork chops as I had an uncle not fond of chicken or turkey. I’m with you, the meat is okay, but the sides are what I prefer! Butch and the girls did a great job on their pumpkin patch. That’s a pretty pumpkin. The centerpiece is beautiful. I’m with your Dad on the cranberry sauce! I’ve had different kinds but still prefer the canned. Happy Tuesday! Clara❤️
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Clara, thank you for your heartwarming comments. I will have to tell my dad that someone else loves the canned cranberry sauce. Blessings during this Thanksgiving season!
Maureen says
What lovely memories of your precious mother Pam! There is nothing like family gathered around the table together. Your menu has my mouth watering! Oh my….love those! Your display of pumpkins, leaves and branches is so pretty. Happy Thanksgiving 🙂

Pam, your table is gorgeous! I love the plates. I have a fondness for mallards, too, and we are blessed to see them everyday during our morning walks. I enjoyed reading about your mother and your Thanksgiving traditions. Your menu sounds heavenly, especially the hummingbird cake. I’ve never baked one, but I do know that there are many ingredients. I also like your charcuterie board used as your centerpiece. Is Blackberry Farm a local business? Happy Thanksgiving!
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Thank you, Ricki Jill. Hummingbird cake has a lot of ingredients, but easy to make. Blackberry Farm is in TN in the Great Smoky Mountains. It is a fabulous property with beautiful accommodations, gorgeous spa, and food that is prepared by their stellar chef. You must check out their website!
Patti Fralix says
Pam, your table is beautiful. You have certainly taken up the mantle for holiday meals now that Shirshee has passed. She taught you well, dear friend. As you know, I too enjoy setting beautiful tables, and Thanksgiving has been my favorite holiday. This year will be different at the beach and using disposables! But the family that gathers will still make it a wonderful holiday, so I will get past the lack of turkey plates and all of the decorations! I will also make Shirshee’s dressing, and only hope to come close to it being almost as good as hers. She was a wonderful cook, and set such a high standard. I wonder if our grandchildren will remember our meals and tables?
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Thank you dear friend. Your attention to detail and beauty is legendary with your Thanksgiving dinners for 60+ people. I think our grandchildren will remember ♥️
Sandra @ Dinner at Eight says
Pam, your Thanksgiving table is so welcoming! I love that it’s built on layers of tradition! The centerpiece, the natural fall elements, the amber glassware, the plaids, colors, textures are so well choreographed for an enchanting table. The design of the tablecloth is lovely and pairs well with those fabulous feather placemats! I have the Woodland plates as well and it’s always interesting to see how others style them. Have a wonderful Thanksgiving!
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Thank you, Sandra. I like your idea of layers of tradition. Blessings on your season of Thanksgiving!

All kidding aside… Your table is quite stunning… from the Spode Woodland plates to the tablecloth, the feather placemats and the silverware! And your very own pumpkins for your centerpiece. The Littles are going to love that!

So pretty Pam and steeped in tradition which I love. what sweet memories of your mom and this wonderful Holiday. So glad you are able to carry on in her stead. Spode Woodland dinnerware is one of my favorites too and when I have used mine, I smile at the wonderful birds…(I love the mallard too, and the pheasant…and the quail, oh gosh, I guess I just love them all) Using your large cutting board as a centerpiece holding Butch and the grands pumpkins make your table even more special. Your table is so overall special it should be in a magazine, perhaps along side Norman Rockwell…oh goodness, I am dating myself now. Happy Thanksgiving my dear friend.
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Thanks so much, Kari. Traditions and memories always are a big part of our family celebrations. Kari, I don’t ever remember seeing you use your woodland Spode. I love using it in the fall and especially for Thanksgiving. Wishing you blessing during the season of Thanksgiving ♥️

Pam, what a lovely tradition and tribute to your mom. It warmed my heart and I am sure your mom would be thrilled to know you carry on all that she valued and by sharing the story, it has lifted so many spirits of others. Your table is stunning. I love the Spode and Stafford plates that are such a classic. They go beautifully with the feather placemats and gorgeous flatware and exquisite amber stemware. Most of all, I love the use of the heart-warming pumpkin that was grown by family to take the center of the table. Such love really shows at this beautiful Thanksgiving table. Happy Thanksgiving.
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Marsha, thank you for you heartwarming sentiments. Wishing you a beautiful Thanksgiving!
Nancy Ruegg says
I ADORE your tablescapes, Pam! Such beautiful colors, patterns, and textures you bring together. Our Thanksgiving menu has varied from year to year since our older son (amateur-but-superb chef that he is) often creates exotic-but-sumptuous sides. This year, however we’ll be fixing many of the traditional dishes, similar to yours, Pam. One will be my mother-in-law’s dressing that nearly everyone agrees is the best dressing they’ve ever tasted. Thankfully, she did write down the recipe!
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Thanks so much, Nancy! Happy Thanksgiving season!
Kim says
Good evening Pam. i’m commenting from beautiful Victoria, b.c. where we are visiting for a short stay. and I’m sorry i’m so late in commenting and that this font is so weird and I can’t seem to fix it. Your table is just beautiful and its so lovely that you are keeping your mother’s traditions! the AC tablecloth is such a pretty background for the feather placemats, plaid chargers, and the gorgeous spode plates. Love the charcuterie board turned centerpiece with the pumpkins, antler sheds, leaves and acorns – what a great idea! and how cool is it that the peachy pumpkin is from your own pumpkin patch! I hope you and your family have a wonderful thanksgiving!
Kim says
Oh, it didn’t post in the weird font after all. Yay!

The highlight of your Thanksgiving post has got to be the memories of that beloved lady who
graced her table with her culinary skills and surrounded it with her grateful family….what a gracious role model she was. Would love to have known her. Leave it to our Pam to create another unforgettable memory in making the Children’s first pumpkins the focus of the setting. All the china is holiday festive and assembled to perfection. and the food… Momma taught you well in the art of making family gatherings mouth-watering and meaningful. Thank you for sharing those blessed memories and psalm 100.

Pam, it is so sweet to read about your family traditions. And that includes the menu. I have been facing many problems due to my husbands cancer. But through it all, I’m still going to praise God. Thanksgiving this year will be different. But I have so much to be thankful for.
Your table is lovely! I adore the plates with so much history, and the pink/peach pumpkin. I’m wondering if you can tell me the name of it? I might try to grow it for 2323.
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Prayers for your husband. It is easy to praise God when everything is going well. Choosing to praise Him in difficulties shows our trust in Him. I am sorry I don’t remember the type of pumpkin.
