Happy Tuesday sweet friends. With the Thanksgiving Holiday just around the corner, I am reminded to not only make thankfulness a priority on a special day in November… but gratefulness should be a part of my everyday living.
“Let us come into his presence with thanksgiving; let us make a joyful noise to him with songs of praise!”
Psalm 95:2
Even a simple tea can be a treasure and bring many blessings to mind!
I am enjoying tea and sweets in the Sunshine Cottage! Come on in where it is warm and cozy, I have a seat especially for you!
It is Tea on Tuesdays with my talented friend, Mary. The link for her beautiful teatime is at the bottom of this post.
On our recent trip to Highlands, NC, I visited The Spice and Tea Exchange. Whenever we are in Highlands, I always make sure to drop by this lovely shop. I purchased several different teas, including this delicious one I am drinking today. The cinnamon orange black tea is an aromatic medley of warm cinnamon, sweet orange, and spicy cloves which mingle perfectly within a rich, black tea base.
I happen to love muffins and I particularly love these cranberry-orange ones. They are not baked from scratch, but Krusteaz makes a great box mix. Mountain Fresh Fresh Grocery in Highlands is a favorite place for specialty items like the delicious small bites of shortbread cookies…rosemary and sea salt along with lavender. They are perfect with a cup of tea!
The set of four dessert/salad plates offer lovely expressions for Thanksgiving…”always grateful, so blessed, give thanks and gather together”!
The Renaissance pheasant tea pot is a retired piece by Fitz and Floyd. The pheasant moved from the bookcase in the living room to serve tea in the cottage. A trio of velvet pumpkins are by Hot Skwash.
Glazed vanilla scones are front and center and of course, everyone knows the English love their tea with scones!
A plaid throw, used as the table covering, brings all of the warmth of autumn to the tea setting!
You might notice a tree in the corner!
This is the first time in years that I have put up an autumn tree. The girls love it! In case you missed the Sunshine Cottage dressed in its fall decor, you can see it here!
Cotton stems, dried okra pods, pheasant feathers, faux leaves and sunflowers, lotus pods, and more decorate the tree…
…and topping it are turkey feathers found in our pasture and woodlands!
This tea was planned for two, but it was just me!
However, a friend joined me for coffee on Wednesday. We enjoyed cranberry orange muffins and shortbread bites. Martha is one of the sweetest ladies that I have ever known. She gets up each morning and makes the conscious decision to be thankful and to choose joy. She is my encourager, prayer partner, and dear friend. Long time readers have been introduced to her before in a favorite post, A Morning on the Hydrangea Farm. Everyone needs a friend like Martha!
Mary has set a beautiful tea that you do not want to miss. Be sure to visit her!

I know this is about tea, but your Autumn tree is so beautiful!! Bigelow’s Orange & spice tea is my favorite tea, so I know I would love yours purchased from Highlands’ specialty shop. The muffins would be my choice dessert. The cottage looks so special with the sunlight streaming in on your table. The Fitz & Floyd teapot is perfect with your styling. I can’t help but think of all the labor of love you put into decorating this little cottage, and it certainly shows, Pam. How nice to be able to share every day with your girls. Happy Tuesday

I can only imagine how cozy it must be inside Sunshine Cottage on a cold, rainy day like today…with the beautiful autumn tree lit and the wonderful aroma of cinnamon and orange tea mingling with muffins. Magical! Your tree is truly spectacular. Tea alone with a good book is always nice, but tea with such a special friend is memory making. Have a wonderful day, sweet Pam.

Thanks so much, my friend. Tea with a good friend is perfect. On this cold and rainy day I am planning breakfast for dinner and it will definitely include grits. Stay warm and cozy!

What a beautiful tea table and how lovely to share it with a friend. I’m very fond of orange and spice for tea and it sounds great with your muffins. I think Krusteaz makes such good mixes. I love their crumb cake/muffin mix. I’ve never tried the orange/cranberry but I’ll pick one up next time I’m at the store. I know it’ll be terrific! (I almost always have a box of crumb cake in the cupboard for “one of those days.”

Pam, how special to enjoy tea in the Sunshine Cottage all dressed for autumn, my favorite season. The pheasant teapot is such a fabulous piece. It must hold a special spot in your life. Your grands are so lucky to have you close in their lives, as you are to have them. I love having tea time with my little grand nieces. I may have to pull myself together and plan something special for the two of them. The autumn tree is a beautiful idea, and your linens are the perfect colors. They reflect sunshine on an autumn day. Thanks for sharing your autumn tea. The glazed scone is making me wish I could snap my fingers and have one as I type.

Well, I thoroughly enjoyed my visit and I’ve been thinking that I need to become a hot tea drinker. I love coffee but think I might enjoy tea on occasion as well. As always, everything is perfectly beautiful and so warm and welcoming. Happiest of Thanksgivings!
Kari says
I am a little slow in commenting Pam….but none-the-less your Sunshine Cottage is a delight to the eyes. The Fall tree is a perfect backdrop for tea time. Yummy! I have a friend here who leaves her Christmas tree up all year around because she likes the lights and the sparkle of her ornaments. She sometimes adds Fall leaves, etc to celebrate the seasons. I told her if it makes her happy…then leave the tree up. Life is too short to worry about what others think, Hugs dear friend.
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Thank you, Kari for your sweet comments. I so agree if someone wants to have a tree for every season or leave their Christmas tree up all year long, do what they enjoy and don’t worry about what others think. Happy Thanksgiving sweet friend!
