Merry Monday sweet friends. It is a busy time for all of us, but for a moment as you read this post, my wish is that you will reflect on the Light that came into the world!
“The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.”
John 1:5
It is Monday Morning Blooms with my friends. Our common theme for this edition of Monday Morning Blooms is White Christmas. I only remember one Christmas, it was 2010, that we awakened to a white December 25! We were so excited, snow is not very common in the Deep South!
You will find Lidy’s and Mary’s links for beautiful floral inspiration at the bottom of this post.
A table with varying shades of white was set in the Sunshine Cottage. Sometimes flowers are hard to find in our small city. This was especially true of finding white blooms. The manager of Publix produce and floral departments told me white flowers were the most difficult for him to get during the winter months. He had one white orchid and that was it. Winn-Dixie had one potted white miniature rose and baby’s breath. My RM cut fresh pine and all was added to a whitewashed box.
You will notice the background in this photo is not white. The grandchildren’s Christmas tree is an explosion of color!
Cups were filled with moss and a pine cone dusted with faux snow. The plate stack of winter white ironstone is by American Atelier in the Baroque pattern.
A faux fur throw was placed on the table as a covering. Twig flatware reminds me of the bare trees in December.
Everyday stemware by Godinger Dublin adds a little sparkle!
Phalaenopsis orchids are one of the most popular and easiest to grow!
The crocheted napkin rings are special, and I love using them with the embroidered napkins. The napkin rings were made many years ago by a sweet friend of my mother’s. She was a widow and had no children of her own. She was known as Aunt Ruby and was greatly loved by all that knew her. Aunt Ruby was a beautiful example of having a servant’s heart.
The third verse of a favorite Christmas carol:
“Hail the heav’n-born Prince of Peace! Hail the Sun of righteousness
Light and life to all He brings, Rising with healing in His wings;
Mild He lays His glory by, Born that man no more will die!
Born to raise the sons of earth, Born to give them second birth!
Hark the herald angels sing, Glory to the newborn King!”
~Charles Wesley
“The hinge of Christmas is on the door of a Bethlehem stable.”
~Ralph W. Sockman

Good Morning Pam, Your box looks so beautiful and fresh with your orchid, pops of white from the miniature roses, baby’s breath and fresh pine! I love orchids for their longevity…3 months or more. The orchid’s white blooms look so beautiful with the lights of the tree in the background. So many pretty and cozy elements on your table from your fur throw, crocheted napkin rings, and the texture of your winter white ironstone. Your colorful tree with the twinkling lights in the background is such a cheerful sight. As always it’s a treat to join you for some flower therapy. Merry Monday ♥

That orchid is fabulous Pam! It’s so pretty in the box with the greenery and miniature roses. The grands Christmas tree is beautiful! We went through the Opryland Hotel Saturday and they had some beautiful lavender orchids naturally growing along the Delta waterway which was a treat. I love orchids but have never tried growing them. I’m so glad you found a pretty white miniature rose. You can maybe incorporate that into your landscape this spring. I love the white Christmas MMB idea because, as you said, a white Christmas is unusual in the South! Love the Ralph Sockman quote! Enjoy your day. Clara❤️

Thank you, Clara. I love seeing the Opryland Hotel at Christmas. I enjoy buying orchids and seeing how long they will live. Merry Monday evening ♥️

Good morning Pam! I love your tablescape! It could not have been more perfect if you had access to every white flower on the planet. It truly looks like a winter wonderland. I love your story about Miss Ruby and the crochet napkin rings, what a precious treasure. I surely do miss Winn Dixie and Piggly Wiggly!

Thanks so much, Roxanne. I know you appreciate a story. Our Piggly Wiggly closed up several years ago. Blessings on your week!

This truly is a light for us this week. My house is decorated, except for a plan for the table, so this is indeed timely. Thanks for the beauty and encouragement to make our homes a place of peace and happiness.

I especially love the napkin rings made by Aunt Ruby! Such a precious memory, to be shared with your little people, who will love learning about her.
I am picturing you here all together gathered in your Sunshine Cottage reading a Christmas story, or enjoying a special tea time. It’s always a blessing to join you for our Monday Morning Blooms. xo Lidy

Thank you, Lidy. The girls asked why I had a pine cone in a cup. They spent Saturday afternoon with me in the cottage. We snuggled and read stories!

Your arrangement and table setting is so lovely! I loved hearing about Aunt Ruby and the cherished napkinrings, it reminded me of the sweet elderly ladies in our church that would made such treasures for the Christmas bazaar ⭐

Orchids are a favorite of mine and imagine my delight when I found them easy to grow in Florida. You really can’t kill them down here as they will defy you of little watering and fertilizing (person that I am.) So I really relate to your beautiful white orchid arrangement in the sunshine cottage. Your “Aunt Ruby” must have been a wonderful soul to do for others in spite of having none of her own. How sweet. Thanks for sharing on this bright and beautiful day. Blessings Always

Thank you dear one! I can just imagine how beautiful the orchids are where you live. Aunt Ruby was a precious lady!

The light shines so beautifully from your heart. You took what you had and turned it into the most beautiful Snowy Winter Tablescape. The pine cone covered in snow is truly a winter wonderland. I enjoy your inspiration! Your story of Miss Ruby is so sweet. And there is nothing like a white orchid …especially paired with the greens… it’s absolutely gorgeous.
Merry December my friend!

Pam, your white arrangement turned out beautiful! The entire setting is so elegant. The snow covered pine cones at each setting is such a lovely touch. Your grandbabies Christmas tree shining in the background is so pretty. I can’t believe how fast Christmas is approaching. I wish I could slow time down. Sorry, I am so late commenting. It seems like my entire family is sick right now. My mother in law broke her hip and while she was in the hospital she ended up with an infection and the flu. She is home now, and I’m blessed she is only 5 minutes away so I can help when needed. Other family members caught the flu while taking care of her in the hospital. My parents are also both sick with a respiratory infection. So I have been extra busy helping everyone out. I’m just so thankful to be close to everyone where I can be there for them. I know brighter days will be ahead for all. Merry Christmas season, my dear friend!
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Shannon, I am so sorry to read of all of your family’s health issues. I hope everyone will be well soon. Your MIL’s broken hip will take time. Blessings and hugs, sweet friend!
