Hello sweet friends! Is spring showing up in your area? It has definitely arrived here with trees in bloom and temps in the high 70’s and low 80’s for a few days last week!
“He is like a tree planted by streams of water that yields its fruit in its season, and its leaf does not wither. In all that he does, he prospers.”
Psalm 1:3
“Happiness? The color of it must be spring green.”
~Frances Mayes
Welcome to Monday Morning Blooms! It is always a pleasure to join Mary and Lidy on the first Monday of each month for flower therapy. You will find their links at the bottom of this post.
For this edition of Monday Morning Blooms, our common theme is green!
Meteorological spring began March 1st, and within the past few days, beautiful shades of green are popping up in our Appalachian Foothills!
For our anniversary party on February 23rd, there were five beautiful table arrangements. I brought all of the flowers home in hopes that by keeping them in a refrigerator in RM’s workshop, they would last for this Monday Morning Blooms. As you can see, they did! The only exception were the gorgeous delphiniums. I took the arrangements apart to place in the refrigerator.
Green hydrangeas, Eskimo roses, thistle, stock, and seeded eucalyptus were placed in a stoneware pitcher and a small green vase. The first day of sunshine was five days after our party and the flowers were still beautiful!
Each year, my RM sows winter rye grass. It provides a beautiful green carpet through the often gray and cloudy days of our winters in the South!
The picnic table is the ideal spot for spring table settings!
I couldn’t resist adding our bright yellow daffodils that have been blooming for a couple of weeks. How can their yellow blooms not make us smile?! A water hyacinth placemat adds texture to the wood table. A Majolica dinner plate, Portmeirion “Botanic Garden” salad plate with its green leafy border, and Bordallo Pinheiro small salad/dessert plate complete the stack.
The jeweled squirrel box has made several appearances on tablesettings. We often see squirrels sitting on the picnic table as they feast on pine cones; the box seems to belong!
An American Atelier “Baroque” cup holds a petite arrangement of daffodils! A small emerald vase brings its own touch of green.
The table was set for only two, keeping it simple. Noritake “Reverie” stemware add another lovely shade of green! The mossy green napkins are held with rustic bark napkin rings that blend well in our woodlands setting!
“Daffodils are yellow trumpets of spring”
~Richard L. Ratliff
These thistles are prettier than the wild and invasive ones that thrive in our pastures!
I cannot think on “March”, and “green”, without thoughts of Saint Patrick’s Day. We were blessed to visit beautiful Ireland in 2015!
“If you’re lucky enough to be Irish, then you’re lucky enough”.
~ An Irish Saying
The lush rye grass carpet that leads to the Sunshine Cottage adds a nice backdrop to the table setting as I am seeing green in every direction!

Just beautiful Pam…from the spring green carpet of rye grass to your arrangements from your anniversary party and tablesetting! I love the plate layers with their pretty textures and embossed layers topped with your sweet bouquet of daffies. Our daffodils are all bloomed out with our warmer than average February and early March temperatures…normally I can count on snipping a few blooms to enjoy in mid-March. Your squirrel box is so sweet…I wish the squirrels around here would be satisfied with munching on pinecones and acorns, rather than our outdoor chairs, planters and boat! As always it’s a treat to share blooms and flower therapy with you. Happy Monday. ♥
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Thank you, Mary. The squirrels are definitely a pest. Eating your chairs and
boat is a definite problem. Happy Tuesday 💚

Beautiful as always. I love your green carpet. The daffs are so bright and cheery and look just right in cups like that. The little squirrel is darling. I would almost prefer ours to be like that one instead of one stealing seeds from the birds.
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Thank you, Ruth. Those squirrels can be pesky!

So pretty, Pam! I love the winter green rye grass that surrounds your picnic table area. It is soothing and so pretty. Your anniversary arrangements were lovely and how nice to be able to save them for MMB. The thistles add a delightful color and texture as do the sweet daffodils in your petite arrangements. Your plate stack is lovely and creative. Green in all its forms is very welcome this time of year heralding spring. Your quotes and pretty photos are lovely today.
Squirrels are cute scampering about but very destructive. I am at war with them. I used to be very resentful of them stealing my birdseed but now if they would leave my porch pillows alone I would put out seed just for them. They destroyed my porch decorative side pillows and now they are pulling the stuffing out of the cushions we sit on. I am not a happy camper.
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Thanks Bonnie. My favorite floral designer did all of the arrangements and I took them apart to use for MMB’s. Squirrels can wreak havoc, so sorry you are having to deal with them. Happy Tuesday!

So beautiful! Not only your flowers, but that grass!! Spring is here also, just maybe a week or two behind your region. I love seeing tour outdoor setting with your tabletop arrangement. So smart to have saved all those flowers, so pretty!
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Thank you, Rita. The flower arrangements were gorgeous for the event! I hope to share photos soon!

The St Patrick’s Day theme is spot on for me this month as I’m hosting 6 neighbor ladies for lunch that day. I have a little squirrel jewelry box too. Never would have thought of that. I love your green vase. Thanks for the inspiration.
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Enjoy your ladies lunch and thank you, Pamela!

Beautiful flowers, love how you’ve displayed them in several containers, and added the daffodils to the place settings.

What a beautiful backdrop with the green grass to showcase the beautiful flowers. Everything looks so fresh and cheerful in the sunshine. My mother had some stemmed green glasses and starting when I was about EM’s age, she would let me set the table for supper and make it “pretty”. I was fascinated with those glasses…some nights I would serve tomato juice and sometimes a parfait with jello chocolate pudding and whipped cream! I guess you’re never too young to appreciate “pretty”.
Pam @ Everyday Living says
How sweet of you to share your memories of setting tables as a child. I always enjoy you sharing. Happy Tuesday!

Pretty pretty. I love hydrangeas my faves and I love the daffodils. The sunshine and the green grass carpet is so pretty and springy. We are actually having a thunder storm today and spring like temps. A little early for us but I will take it over snow and cold. I guess Spring is trying to peak out soon. Happy New Week.
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Thank you, Kris. We have had three days of sun and it has been beautiful!
Alice Genzlinger says
I agree with Frances Mayes. The rye grass makes my heart sing. Are the daffodils the ones Butch planted with help from the grands? They are so pretty in the cups. Surely we will see Spring pot here soon. Nothing peaking out of the ground. Bud I’m enjoying seeing Spring through your posts.
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Yes, the daffodils were planted in the fall of 2021 and the grands helped. They were excited to see them this year. Have a good week, Alice!

Pam, what a luscious treat of greens! Your carpet of bright spring green grass is the perfect back drop for your glorious table setting. Congratulations on your anniversary! The flowers are so lovely, the daffodils, too, really set off the greens of your table elements. As you know, it has been unusually cold here in Southern California, it actually hailed one day last week! But our garden, too, is popping out with that fresh bright early green that we love so much.
I love your squirrel box, I am not that happy with our squirrels in the garden, like Mary. They do try to eat our chairs, and tease Bentley relentlessly by “ screeching” at him from the safety of the top of the fence! They are rascals. It’s always such a joy to join you for our beloved Monday Morning Blooms, dear friend . Xo Lidy
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Thank you, Lidy. Squirrels are definitely a menace and they create a mess that has to be cleaned. Happy week to you, my friend!

What beautiful blooms to look at this afternoon. I expect us Floridians to have at least one more cold snap. But, we never know. I do see so many pretty flowers blooming along the sides off the country roads in my neck of the woods. Happy March Pam. Hugs and blessings, Cindy

Thank you, Cindy. We probably will still have a frost or two. Happy week to you!

Pam, what a neat idea to save the flowers from your party, and they all stayed so beautiful. The vases are gorgeous too! RM’s carpet of rye grass is the perfect backdrop and its impossible not to love those pretty daffodils in a teacup. Its definitely spring in your neck of the woods and I hope you are enjoying it!

Oh, my! That arrangement with the purple thistles! I couldn’t get enough of looking at it and pinning it! SO beautiful. One of the prettiest ever, in my opinion. I am so happy to hear that your anniversary celebration is going on and will last all year! 50 years is certainly deserving of a year-long celebration! May God bless you both with many, many more!!
