“Sing praises to the Lord, O you his saints, and give thanks to his holy name. For his anger is but for a moment, and his favor is for a lifetime. Weeping may tarry for the night, but joy comes with the morning.”
Psalm 30:4-5 ESV
Another glorious morning last week had me spellbound. Change comes fast at first and last light and grabbing pics quickly is necessary. But…on a morning like this, I decided to put the camera away and just enjoy the moments instead of taking 30 photos! It probably sounds ridiculously silly but I always want to get pics through the fence when possible. To see the labor of the cattleman’s handiwork on the fencing, like the wooden stays in the corner sections, does me good! (Pardon the grammar)!
Robins seem to be a natural fit for a spring morning. They belong. Last week robins gathered in the yard at times in large groups. I am not exaggerating, there were at least 75, maybe more at one time. Migrating northward I suppose??
Perhaps I should call this post “one for the birds”. You will see why as you continue down the post. Not an expert by any stretch of the imagination, but I believe this is a Purple Finch? Some folks like to call it a “raspberry dipped” finch. I can see why!
It took patience while being very still in my small hideout to wait for Mr. Bluebird. The blue’s in this pic are a bit clashing! Bluebirds nest in this house year after year.
Checking the construction progress!
Speaking of blue, WL was wide-eyed and excited as one of our 50th anniversary hosts. But even a host needs a break from the action and a little mommy time.
I’m thinking it was only last week that I predicted the new Lady Banks Roses would need a year or two for maturity before making any type show. It is time I stopped making predictions.
While out for a walk a thought struck me when I viewed our old barn through new leaves. The way of life. The old and the new, gracing the landscape together. The barn has withstood the elements for decades, just as the trees, but the leaves are all new, here for a season, serving their purpose and then fading away!
We had never seen a fox squirrel in the yard near the house until last week. Numbers of gray squirrels are here daily. Do any of you see fox squirrels?
I kinda hated to bring this pic to the mix, but hey, this is everyday living. There is a deceased skunk in the pasture where these vultures have gathered. While it is a bit gross to consider vultures eating a skunk, we were glad to have them as our clean-up crew.
My “pine myrtle” is not only still surviving in the boughs of a crepe myrtle, it is putting on new growth. I believe this is year 4 for this little tree. The loblolly pine no doubt has enough roots to nourish the tree. If you’ve followed our Sunday posts for a while you will know I decided several years ago to leave it as long as it has life!
In a past post we related how a roost where hundreds of birds flock daily can be very devastating to foliage down below. This is not frost or snow! Nor is this area an appealing spot to take a walk by the lake!
The pretty and dainty wood sorrel (Oxallis) has returned as it does every year! The leaves are definitely clover-like, but the wood sorrel leaf has a fold down the center while clover leaves are flat.
The anatomy of a tulip, up close and personal. So intricate is God’s amazing creation!
After a stormy night on Friday, Saturday morning was completely calm and peaceful here. Our weather was not severe. We continue to pray for our neighbors in Mississippi. Such heartache, devastation and loss!
With a small patch of fog settling in, I happened along at just the right time to catch the light being diffused with a tree seemingly, like a knife, slicing the rays.
Be sure to come back tomorrow. Pam has an exciting giveaway!
Have a blessed week!!!!!!

After reading my devotional on Sunday mornings I turn to your post. What better way to add to God’s word than with pictures of His amazing creations? The delicate, intricate inside of flowers and plants and the amazing human body! We are extra thankful this morning that the Lord blessed us with our first great grandson this week. Another beautiful creation from the Lord!
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Nancy, congratulations on your first great grandson!

Gorgeous morning sky. Beautiful birds. WL is so cute and his eyes are so pretty that they’re mesmerizing. Mississippi got hit so hard. So many lives lost and more rain in the forecast. Prayers for them. Tarps are desperately needed (heard that on our local news). Enjoy your day. Clara❤️

There is so much to say about this beautiful post. I love God’s amazing creation and carry a camera with me most of the time. Many times I have said to Bob “I am going to put the camera away and just enjoy the beauty.” The bird photos are just beautiful. My favorite bird is the bluebird. I love how they stay together and return to their homes. I was beyond delighted to see the Lady Banks bloom. So beautiful! Thanks for the beauty. Praying with you for everyone impacted by the hurricanes.

Dianne, bird watching is especially fun in the spring. Wishing you a lovely week!

What is it about old barns that is so appealing? Lovely photos of the birds and flowers. Love the fog in the trees just before dawn, my favorite time of day.
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Thank you, Carole. We can’t resist a barn photo. This barn is on our farm, at least a hundred years old.

Good Morning. We love to see Robins here in Illinois that is our sign that Spring is coming soon. I have been seeing that here on the golf course with Robins flocking in large groups. That was new to me too. There had to be at least 25 outside the condo on the front lawn. I always thought they were only in pairs but apparently they are a gang now lol! Have a great Sunday and wonderful week ahead. Hugs. Kris

Beautiful pictures Butch. Love the morning sunrise through the fence. Glad your patience paid off in catching a pic of the bluebird. And, oh, WL’s big blue eyes – just gorgeous. I heard our first robin here last week, although it is probably shaking its head at all the snow that is still here. Perhaps s/he is a little bit ahead of the rest? Wishing you both a wonderful week!

Thank you, Kim. Have a wonderful week!

Wow! I love that last photo. The word that comes to mind when I look at it is “ethereal.” Not sure if I am using that word correctly, but it sure is a beautiful photo. As are all of your photos! May the Lord bless you all.
