Hello sweet friends. I am so happy you have joined me for Tea on Tuesday!
“A merry heart doeth good like a medicine: But a broken spirit drieth the bones.”
Proverbs 17:22
All three of my grandchildren love books and always enjoy someone reading to them. The oldest, EM (almost seven) has become an excellent reader and now reads to her younger sister and brother. When both girls were very little, I began reading Beatrix Potter to them. The girls and I are fans of Beatrix Potter’s “The Tale of Peter Rabbit” written in 1902. I have read Peter Rabbit to my two granddaughters more times than I can count. We love watching the short videos on YouTube of Beatrix Potter – The World of Peter Rabbit and Friends. I enjoy them as much as EM and EK.
Mary and I are excited to welcome back Jennifer from Celebrating Everyday Life. You will find the links for Mary’s and Jennifer’s gorgeous tea settings at the bottom of this post!
Peter Rabbit is the story of four little Rabbits, and their names were Flopsy, Mopsy, Cotton-tail, and Peter. Their mother, Mrs. Rabbit said one morning, “Now my dears, you may go into the fields or down the lane, but don’t go into Mr. McGregor’s garden. Now run along, and don’t get into mischief.” Flopsy, Mopsy, and Cotton-tail were good little bunnies…
…but naughty Peter ran straight to Mr. McGregor’s garden. He hopped into the raised bed of cabbage, carrots, radishes, broccoli, and Brussels sprouts! He was anxious to indulge in all the fresh vegetables!
Peter discovered a cute watering can, perfect for hiding from Mr. McGregor!
A picnic had been spread next to the woodlands for two darling granddaughters. To my dismay, and the girls’ laughter, Peter had hopped on a plate that depicted himself. He wasn’t happy to eat just a carrot…
…but decided to try a bite of all the vegetables! Did he ever make a big mess of EK’s plate!
He hopped back to the raised bed and discovered a cute miniature Peter Rabbit and watering can. The adorable salt and pepper set was given to me by Mary, my fellow tea and flower enthusiast! Peter approved the set and decided not to be naughty and break it. He might have been banished from the party if he had messed with the set. Or worse, he could have been put in a pie!
Not only did naughty Peter get into the garden, but he also knocked over a flower pot, spilling dirt and wild butterweed onto the picnic table. It seems we had also been joined by a mischievous moss bunny sitting on a flower pot.
Every bunny knows you need tea for a tea party and not just any old tea, but Peter Rabbit English breakfast tea!
Peter takes notice of the other side of the garden, and discovers that moss bunnies might be multiplying. He also took notice of Mr. McGregor’s old rake and a fearful thought came to mind, but didn’t last long. Then, to his surprise, the “mini” Peter Rabbit, also being a bit naughty, had hopped upon the tea pot!
Not to be outdone by the little rabbit, Peter hops up to take a seat on the cute tea pot!
Naughty Peter was not content to sit!
Peter chooses to go back and check on the vegetable garden, and contemplates what to do about the hungry moss bunnies!
Peter determines he shouldn’t be selfish and invites the moss bunnies to share Mr. McGregor’s bountiful garden!
All three moss bunnies have eaten their fill…
…two are ready to play while one needs a nap, (kinda reminds me of my 3 grands)!
All of a sudden Peter eyes a carrot cupcake with cream cheese icing prepared for the granddaughters.
Would he dare take a bite? Just like Mr. McGregor, I might have to run after Peter, waving a rake and calling out, “Stop thief!”
I don’t know when I have had as much fun setting a table as I did this one! EM and EK were the inspiration for the entire setting. They were unable to come on the day I set up to photograph. So what does a grandmother do? I set it up again on Saturday!!

So adorable Pam! Peter Rabbit is a naughty bunny…making such a mess, eating the veggies and hopping then toppling off the teapot! I know your grand girls had fun too, EM and EK are so sweet in their bonnets at your table. Love your pretty lily pad / cabbage leaf teapot! Your moss bunnies and table runner, Mr. McGregor’s rake, pretty watering can and veggie centerpiece are the perfect details. Love the addition of your foraged wild butterweed too. As always it’s a treat to share a cup of tea and teatime with you. I hope you’re enjoying the same beautiful spring weather that we are this week…perfect for digging into some gardening. Happy Tuesday ♥

This is the most precious Petter Rabbit tale I’ve ever read and the most enjoyable. I have a smile on my face still. Does EM and EK look at your blog? It would be terrible if they never knew and enjoyed the work you put into it. I love to play even at 81 and it thrills me to find that you enjoy playing also. Your imagination given to you by our Heavenly Father is a gift to all that see your work (play)
Pam @ Everyday Living says
