Hello sweet friends. I wanted to pop in for a short visit and wish you a Happy September and share a few photos from yesterday, the last day of August!
“Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things.”
Philippians 4:8
“By all these lovely tokens, September days are here. With summer’s best of weather and autumn’s best of cheer.”
~Helen Hunt Jackson
When our Autumn Fire sedum begins changing colors, September has arrived!
One of RM’s favorite ornamental grasses is Purple Fountain! I do love its soft, fuzzy-like blooms that have that perfect look of fall!
We planted basil in our cottage garden and it has thrived! I should be making lots of pesto.
Only one Adagio maiden grass remains in our garden, but it is very large and by September is filled with wispy blooms!
The four preceding photos were taken late yesterday afternoon. This photo of the skies was taken on August 30. It was already dark but the western sky was still aglow…maybe hoping to catch a glimpse of the rising blue moon!
Thank you for your visit and gracious comments. Wishing you a lovely Labor Day weekend!

Your basel is so full and I love pesto. Have made it once this summer and it’s ready again to share. What an interesting picture of the sky at twilight. May your Labor Day holiday be one of rest and reflection.
Thank you sweet, Alice♥️
Hallelujah, September is here!!
Yes’
Happy September Pam! Lovely photos! Hope you’re enjoying some cooler temps for the weekend like we are. 🧡
Thank you, Mary! Yesterday was really nice, today is warmer 💛
Happy September1! It is cool (for SC) and the humidity is lower today…ahhhh.
I did feel a little pang when our weatherman earlier this week said “this is our last 8:00 sunset until next year”. Wishing everyone a lovely long weekend!
Enjoy that lower humidity, Roxanne!
Happy September to you, as well!
Thank you, Jeanie!
Well, I have purple fountain in a pre-planted pot I bought at the garden and feed store, but didn’t know what it was called. It’s so pretty. I’m going to try and replant it in the yard somewhere. happy September!
It is an annual here, but it could be a perennial in your zone!
Happy September to you too. Boy the summer flew by. I bet all of you down south are excited for a cool down this fall. Have a great Labor Day weekend. Hugs. Kris
Thanks so much, Kris!
Ahhhh, what a lovely pause in the day your garden always provides…that photo of
the sky is intriguing .. Autumn at the doorstep. Wishing all a refreshing holiday weekend filled with the joy of living.
Thank you, dear one!
Beautiful shots Pam, especially the sky! Happy Labor Day! Clara❤️
Thank you, Clara♥️
Happy Labor Day Weekend!
Hope you are enjoying your vacay, dear one!
Looking forward to some cooler temperatures and the beautiful fall colors. My favorite grass is Japanese grass, it gives off tassels in the fall and in the meantime it fills in it’s space with green, white stripes leaves. Have a wonderful fall.
The grass sounds lovely, Nonie!
We saw the Blue moon here over two nights Pam, it was amazing! Love the photos & the purple grass!
Blessings sweet friend, Jennifer 💝
I would love to see the night sky from Australia!
Your nature images are helping me absorb the allure of September! Wishing you and your lovely family a grand Labor Day weekend!
Thank you, Mary. Enjoy your weekend!
Love the Purple Fountain grasses, beautiful! Happy September!
Thank you, Jenna! 🅰️🐘
Beautiful photos! Happy September, dear friend. Enjoy the cooler weather, my friend!
Happy Labor Day weekend!
Thank you, my friend!
Happy Labor Day weekend, Pam! This is such a beautiful post to welcome September, Your Autumn Fire sedum is so pretty. My Autumn Joy sedum looks very similar to your sedum. I planted mine last fall. I have a question. Do you ever have problems with it getting too big and heavy and falling over? I have been battling that with mine. For now, I have it staked and tied to hold it up. I’m wondering if I should have trimmed it back as it was growing in the spring to keep this from happening. Your closing photo of the sunset before the Blue Moon is gorgeous. Wishing you a happy and safe holiday, sweet friend!
Thank you, Shannon. We have had a few stems to fall over. Staking would definitely help. I am unsure about cutting it back in the spring. Happy Week!
Pam
Happy Labor Day, Pam! Catching up from a very busy week of two blog post hops and two days out of town with my sisters has left me feeling very inadequate in maintaining my connectivity with my blogging friends. I read this post when it published, and just wanted to stop and admire all those subtle signs. I adore Purple Fountain grass (it’s an annual for me, is it perennial for you?), and your sedum leaves me feeling wistful. I had Autumn Joy sedum at our former home, and I’m coming very, very close to emailing the current owner to ask if I may have a start. I love its signaling the new season. No matter what season, I just love that even the smallest signs can be remarkable if we allow it. Thank you for always bringing beauty my way, no less than that gorgeous western sky of late August.
I was a little concerned about you last week. Happy to know you were having fun with the sisters! Purple fountain grass is an annual for us. I love the sedum, it is an interesting plant all summer.
Oh, I love pesto! I have never tried making it from scratch, but I imagine your version is delicious. May the Lord richly bless you, sweet friend.
