Hello sweet friends. Can you believe we will officially welcome autumn this Saturday?
“The Lord your God is in your midst, a mighty one who will save; he will rejoice over you with gladness; he will quiet you by his love; he will exult over you with loud singing.”
Zephaniah 3:17
With autumn being my favorite season, I gathered some photos from the archives and included some lovely quotes from my collection (yes, I collect quotes). The past couple of mornings have been in the 50’s with afternoons in the low 80’s. Fall is definitely in the air and I am ready!
As the sun makes its way south for the winter, sunrises from our pasture change gradually. For several weeks near the fall equinox, (and also the vernal equinox), the sun is in a very good spot for us to enjoy awesome morning viewing without any obstruction!
A maple tree, in our downtown, is always dressed in the most stunning fall color!
The Old Mill at Berry College in Rome, GA offers a photo opportunity during each season, but especially autumn.
The Sunshine Cottage porch is perfect for displaying pumpkins and mums!
We love taking a drive around our Appalachian Foothills! Leaf peeping plans are being discussed.
Stacks of pumpkins announce fall’s arrival!
Autumn leaves paint a beautiful scene in front of the old railroad trestle!
Appalachian Media captures some truly great harvest photos every year. We are thankful to have access to aerials like this one! It is not hard to spot the beginnings of the cotton harvest as we observe a clean path behind what appears to be a John Deere picker!
“Autumn carries more gold in its pocket than all the other seasons.”
~Jim Bishop
I look forward to mid October when the monarchs visit our garden as they pass through on their way further south. They love lantana and zinnias, and I enjoy chasing them for a photo!
“And all at once, summer collapsed into fall.”
~Oscar Wilde
“It’s the first day of autumn! A time of hot chocolatey mornings, and toasty marshmallow evenings, and, best of all, leaping into leaves!
~Winnie the Pooh
“Autumn is the season to find contentment at home by paying attention to what we already have.”
~Unknown
RM started a pumpkin carving tradition with the grands a couple of years ago. WL was too young to get involved, but I am sure he will be “all in” this year!
“Everyone must take time to sit and watch the leaves change.”
~Elizabeth Lawrence
“Autumn is a second spring when every leaf is a flower.”
~Albert Camus
I chose this photo because it looks like a painting. My Renaissance Man did a lovely job photographing this mallard last fall!
Weiss Lake provides great opportunities to enjoy an autumn sunset!
We are still trying to overcome jet lag from our trip across the pond. I hope to share a post next week of one of the places we visited, but first I must wade through hundreds of photos.
Thank you for your visit and gracious comments. Wishing you a joy-filled day!

But thanks to you I don’t have to😍Rest easy you two and sneak some well deserved naps in too😃😉I always say I need some rest from my vacations. For some reason, I need more time to “rest up” as I grow older.
Anyway, please consider a visit in the future to The Villages, where we live. We would love to host you two!!!
Now grab a cup of tea or coffee & “sit a spell”❤️

Oh wow and wow Pam! These photos are amazing and what a show fall has put on for you. The turning of the leaves is truly spectacular and you have captured it so beautifully. The pumpkin stacks at the Sunshine Cottage are so pretty and the tradition of carving them with the grands is something to remember always. The mallard is a fabulous shot and I agree that it should be a picture. Just wow if I didn’t already say that. Happy happy fall to you both!

You are so sweet, Kim. Thank you for your comments!
