Happy Monday sweet friends! The fourth Thursday of November is one of my favorite holidays…Thanksgiving!
“Enter his gates with thanksgiving, and his courts with praise! Give thanks to him; bless his name!”
Psalm 100:4 ESV
It is Monday Morning Blooms with my talented friends, Lidy and Mary. Our common theme for this month’s edition is Thanksgiving!
You will find Lidy’s and Mary’s links at the bottom of this post.
The week of Thanksgiving is very busy as I prepare for the big day. Shopping, prepping, chopping, baking, and setting the dining room table occupies most of my waking hours. Thanksgiving Eve usually finds us eating a sandwich at the kitchen island. But why not set a pretty table in the Sunshine Cottage with the glow of the twinkling lights for just the two of us…romantic, I think so!!
Last week a trip to Trader Joe’s yielded an autumn mix of flowers…yellow, burgundy, and gold mums, wildflower hairy aster, and pearl millet, a crop that has been grown in the U.S. since the 1850’s. I moved the arrangement to the counter in order to share with you the lovely pitcher that my Renaissance Man bought for me, a sweet surprise!
“We would worry less if we prayed more. Thanksgiving is the enemy of discontent and dissatisfaction.”
~H. A. Ironside
This is my second year to place an autumn tree in the cottage. My two granddaughters, ages 7 and 4, decorated the tree with a little assistance from me. You can see the Sunshine Cottage dressed for fall here.
A plaid throw serves as a cozy tablecloth with April Cornell olive ‘meridian’ napkins.
Majolica dinner plates and Royal Stafford turkey salad plates…
…complement burlap placemats, faux leather chargers, and tortoise resin flatware. Pheasant feathers add a masculine touch!
“It is only with gratitude that life becomes rich.”
~Dietrich Bonhoeffer
I love natural pumpkins but the velvet pumpkins with feathers and natural stems add a bit of elegance to a rustic table!
Do you notice anything different about the floral arrangement?
With the first frost of the season last week, RM cut all of the blooming cosmos and stored them in his workshop. When putting together the arrangement, I completely forgot about the cosmos. I had taken all of the photos when I remembered.
“Oh give thanks to the Lord, for he is good; for his steadfast love endures forever!”
1 Chronicles 16:34
Since we have daily visits from our resident turkeys, I thought it appropriate and fitting to have turkey feathers top the tree!
My friends have created gorgeous florals and tables for you to enjoy. Be sure to click on their links below!

Good Morning Pam, Your Sunshine Cottage is a lovely spot to enjoy a cozy meal for two! I love your twinkling tree adorned with your sunflowers, cotton bolls, feathers, hydrangeas and okra pods. What a pretty new pitcher (and gift!) to hold your blooms. The cosmos Butch cut to save make a pretty addition with their cheery orange hues. Love your pretty plate and placemat layers framing your Royal Stafford Turkey plates. Your plaid throw is the perfect mix of colors to pair with your plates and velvet pumpkins. As always, it’s a treat to share blooms with you. Happy Monday. 🦃🧡

I am new to your site and really enjoy it!
I am wondering…do you have two homes, maybe in the same town, and the Sunshine Cottage is one of them?
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Welcome Marilyn and so happy you found me. I only have one home and the Sunshine Cottage is my adult playhouse ☺️ I have two granddaughter ages 7 and 4 and we love to play in the cottage. It is small but provides a place for play, rest, reading, and displaying dishes. I hope you will visit often. Wishing you a lovely season of Thanksgiving’

Good morning, Pam! Your Thanksgiving Eve table for two is beautiful, and what a wonderful idea! Your bouquet and entire table setting is so pretty. The fall tree is just gorgeous. I know you must really enjoy spending time in your cottage. You always have it decorated so beautifully. It is amazing how close we are to Thanksgiving. I can’t believe it! Enjoy your day, sweet friend!

Good morning, sweet Pam! Sunshine Cottage looks so cozy and inviting. Any meal, even sandwiches, would taste delicious in such a wonderful setting. Your new pitcher is lovely, your RM is so thoughtful. I HAD a pretty autumn pitcher for years. You know I have my little wild man rescue kitty (one of 9 kittens) left in my driveway last year? Chi Chi got a major case of the zoomies, and I saw the pitcher headed to the floor in slow motion. I looked at him and said “this is why we can’t have nice things!”
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Thank you, Roxanne. Oh that Chi Chi was scolded! Was he sorry for his actions?
Rita C. says
Very pretty and yes, romantic. A nice, quiet respite to the hustle of the event. Beautiful vase and place settings, and lovely arrangement. Those pearl millet are most unusual. The cosmos are sweet!
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Thank you, Rita. I thought the pearl millet was interesting and TJ’s had it along with several native grains and flowers!
Clara says
Your pitcher is so pretty Pam. The cosmos was just the perfect color for the arrangement. Your Sunshine Cottage is beautifully decorated. It’s nice to have the turkey feathers so readily available. They added a nice touch to the fall tree. It’s gorgeous! I’m going to put some pheasant feathers under the chargers. I really like the look. Happy Monday! Clara❤️

Sunshine cottage is the ideal place for a pre thanksgiving dinner, if you have the energy that is. It’s so precious I would have a hard time not to spend all my time loving on it. RM did it again. The pitcher is just right for a bunch of fall cosmos. And so he struck a cord of possible romance as a dinner for two. So sweet❤️
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Alice, you are right RM knows exactly what I like and what will work!

Without a doubt, your Autumn tree in the Sunshine Cottage is a perfect and flawless tribute to the season. Please do not dismantle it…a keeper for the future. Butch has a way of being on the same wavelength as you and that
pitcher is an example of his “knowing” what will work. He evidently sensed a
romantic dinner of appreciation in the offing to accompany it . The complete table setting spells the beauty of giving thanks. Heritage
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Thank you, Mary. The tree will be changed for Christmas. Your comments warm my heart!

Pam, I smile at the idea of a cozy table for two in the Sunshine Cottage. I loved setting a table for my guy because I knew he appreciated it. Love the idea of a fall tree, especially topped with turkey feathers. How fun to have wild turkeys roaming your property. I don’t have a Royal Stafford turkey plate among my rafter of turkey plates. I’ll need to add one or two.
My table for the hop tomorrow is all about turkeys. Hope you enjoy it! Thanks for sharing this pretty setting. I’ve pinned several photos.
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Thank you so much, Sarah! I know your guy appreciated all the beauty you created. I look forward to your table and know I will love it!
