Happy New Year sweet friends! I hope you enjoyed a beautiful Christmas season and are ready to start a brand new year!

January 1, it is the first Monday of a new year, and Monday Morning Blooms with my friends. Before we turn the page, and leave 2023 behind, let’s review A Year In Flowers!
You will find the links for Mary’s and Lidy’s year of beautiful flowers at the bottom of this post!
The Sunshine Cottage is warm and cozy…perfect for a romantic dinner with my Renaissance Man!
The Staffordshire ‘Charlotte’ English pitcher was filled with red roses, pink and white carnations, and rose-hued alstroemeria! I love the traditional colors of Valentine’s Day!
Green was our theme for March. Early March doesn’t normally provide much green in our Appalachian Foothills, but RM plants rye grass in the fall that provides a beautiful spring green background surrounding the picnic table!
Green hydrangeas, Eskimo roses, thistle, stock, and seeded eucalyptus were part of five beautiful arrangements for our February 23rd anniversary celebration. I refrigerated all of the flowers and they survived quite well for our March Monday Morning Blooms!
While waiting for my garden to fully awaken from winter sleep, I set An Easter Table By the Woodlands!
The flower arrangement is a spring mix of colors! From my cottage garden are King Alfred daffodils and yarrow. Snowball viburnums, from the side yard and near the woodlands, make a lovely showing in the arrangement and in the background of the previous photo. Tulips and hyacinths complete the Easter arrangement! Daffodils, tulips, and hyacinths just seem to say Easter!
My Mother’s Day edition perfectly coincided with the blooming of our garden peonies! Stunning Sarah Bernhardt, gorgeous Karl Rosenfeld and fragrant Festiva Maxima peonies are showstoppers and need no other flowers, they steal the show on their own!
Long-time readers know I often share memories of my beautiful Mother. She would have loved my garden, especially the peonies!
I have always loved a cottage-style English garden…wild and a little overgrown! RM has worked tirelessly to give our small cottage garden the English look that I love!
The floral “British Gardening Company” watering can was the perfect vessel for a mix of stock, dianthus, aster, and foraged native oak leaf hydrangea from the woodlands!
I love a tablesetting that honors the red, white, and blue!
Little Lamb hydrangeas, red Crocosmia, zinnias, and Black-Eyed Susan’s were all cut from my garden and placed in a favorite blue and white pitcher for a patriotic arrangement!
A sunflower symphony plays beautifully each summer when our rows of sunflowers come into bloom!
“Like a violin’s moving sweetness in a love song, sunflowers are nature’s strings in summer’s symphony of color.”
~Butch Richardson
With their happy faces, sunflowers are the perfect stand-alone flower, but work in harmony with almost any other flower. I did add the purple and white summer snapdragon! The watering can adds a big pop of red!
Apples, Dahlias, & A September Table was one of my favorite arrangements for the year!
Fourteen gorgeous dahlias from a local flower farm, plus zinnias, limelight hydrangeas, and Chaste tree blooms cut from my garden were placed in the smallest Italian canister from a set of three. Always think outside of the vase when considering a vessel for a flower arrangement. Also, consider adding fruit to an arrangement like apples, oranges, etc.!
Who doesn’t like a blooming pumpkin on a fall table? Dahlias from the farm, and autumn-fire sedum, Egyptian starcluster and blush nandina were all cut from my garden!
With pumpkins as our theme, stacks were added in the garden and on the Sunshine Cottage porch!
The week of Thanksgiving is a very busy time with grocery shopping, prepping, chopping, baking, and setting the dining room table! Thanksgiving Eve usually finds us eating a sandwich at the kitchen island. But why not set a pretty table in the Sunshine Cottage with the glow of the twinkling lights of the autumn tree for just the two of us?!
Trader Joe’s yielded an autumn mix of flowers…yellow, burgundy, and gold mums, wildflower hairy aster, and pearl millet! RM surprised me with the sweet pitcher that held the fall arrangement!
A cozy table and a flower arrangement were ideal in the Sunshine Cottage for our Christmas edition of Monday Morning Blooms!
A tartan throw, twinkling lights of the grandchildren’s tree, and a quick and easy arrangement of carnations, green pompom button mums, and fresh cut cedar…this simple arrangement in a lovely blue and white vase proves that all florals do not have to be over the top or extravagant!
You will not want to miss Mary’s and Lidy’s stunning year in flowers!

A beautiful look back at your year in flowers Pam! I always love seeing your flower arrangements gracing your tablescapes, in your garden or your Sunshine Cottage. I have a hard time choosing a favorite and while I adore peonies, your bicolor sunflowers are stunning, especially in contrast to your red watering can. I look forward to another year sharing blooms and flower therapy with you and Lidy. Wishing you a Happy and Healthy New Year filled with beautiful blooms. Happy January. ♥

I love flowers Pam and you have started my day off right with all your beautiful arrangements. I have to agree with Mary…Peonies are always a favorite of mine and I am so sad that the only way I can enjoy them is through your beautiful photos. There are pros and cons living in a tropical climate. Thank you for sharing your bright and beautiful bouquets and your lovely gardens. Happy New Year!
Pam @ Everyday Living says
You are so sweet, Kari! I am so glad that you enjoy the flowers. We loved our Christmas card that you sent, I have it saved ❤️

Happy New Year friends. Your Bible verse that started this beautiful flower filled post is my favorite.I repeat it often when life gives me lemons. My favorite flower arrangement is the English garden arrangement, my favorite gardens also. But the cutest is the Christmas one with such a simple gathering.
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Alice, thank you as your comments warm my heart. God’s Word always speaks to my heart. Blessings on this first day of 2024 ❤️

Seeing your beautiful blooms is always a joyful thing — but no more so than on a gloomy, gray, damp Michigan New Year’s Day! Here’s to more in 2024!
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Thank you, dearest Jeanie. Our day started off cold and cloudy, but the sun is breaking through! Happy 2024!

Pam, happy 2024 to you and your family! The roundup was a feast for the eyes. It really highlights how many beautiful flowers you grow yourself or have available from flower farms near you. I would have to live at the farm gathering bouquets as my green thumb has taken a long break it seems! Butch does such a good job of preparing your flower beds so the seeds flourish. Of course , you do a great job selecting the seeds, and tending the beds throughout the year. It’s a wonderful and colorful outcome to a joint effort. We’re praying that your family has a healthy 2024 with good news from all providers of care! Clara❤️
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Thank you, Clara for your sweet comments. As you know, gardening is not easy and there are critters that love to eat from the garden. I am perusing seed catalogs and making plans. We do appreciate all of your prayers, dear friend ❤️

Gosh, how I love seeing not only the floral arrangements in retrospect, but seeing the garden through the year is also exciting for me on this otherwise grey and cold start of the new year, Pam. Do you realize 8 of your 11 MMB posts were outside? Seeing the garden, and seeing what you clip from the garden really is fun to see as it unfolds. I really love the March rye grass against your florals and tablescape (incredibly, our grass is looking really good even now, which is mostly Kentucky tall fescue). I also love, love, love the patriotic arrangement with the crocosmia adding the look of fireworks! Each and every one inspires me, as well as the tablescapes, and it must be so fulfilling to be able to pull from your gardens in arranging such beauty. I’m so looking forward to your 2024 for floral arranging, gardening, tablescaping and more inspiration.

I love photographing outdoors and capturing natural light makes me happy. It gives me pleasure to be able to grow flowers and then use them in arrangements. I am perusing seed catalogs now. Thank you, Rita from one gardener to another!
