A Pink And White Tea Table

April 16, 2024~ Alfresco, Spring, Tea On Tuesdays

Hello dear friends! After last week’s strong winds and rain, our forecast this week is the warmest of the year. It is time for sowing seeds, buying annuals, and planting the garden!

“Gracious words are like a honeycomb, sweetness to the soul and health to the body.”
‭‭Proverbs‬ ‭16‬:‭24‬ ‭(ESV‬‬)

It is Tea on Tuesdays at the picnic table nestled by our woodlands! The trees have all leafed out in their pretty shades of spring green!

For April’s edition of Tea on Tuesdays, Mary and I are happy to welcome our special guest, Bonnie from Living With Thanksgiving. Bonnie is a precious friend, gardener, tea enthusiast, and a fellow Alabamian! You will find the links for Mary’s and Bonnie’s teatimes at the bottom of this post.

A pink and white tablesetting speaks springtime! I planned this girls’ table for my granddaughters!

The sweet teapot is by Eileen’s Reserve and has served up many cups of tea!

I purposefully kept the tea table simple for a special time I had planned with my two granddaughters. A tea party and a manners/etiquette class was on our schedule. For this teatime I chose American Atelier ‘Baroque’ dinner plates, Bordallo Pinheiro ‘Cabbageware’ salad plates, and pierced rose appetizer plates that are marked Bavaria! The teapot rests on a small cake plate by Pip Studio.

The ‘La Vie en Rose’ tablecloth from April Cornell complements the Grace Teaware teacup/saucer, teapot and appetizer plates!

Teatime treats were chosen with my granddaughters in mind…mini cinnamon rolls, pistachio scones, cheese straws, and macarons served up on green depression glass!

Our snowball viburnum tree has been beautiful this season, but last week’s 30-40mph wind gusts created the appearance of snow falling…snowball petals that is. I cut some blooms the day before the strong winds. The Kwanzan cherry blossoms are one of my favorites and most anticipated of all spring blooming trees. The Japanese cherry was nipped by three light frosts and the blooms weren’t as stunning as usual. I determined that I would use them along with the snowball blooms and bridal wreath spirea. I arranged the flowers and sprayed with Clear Crowning Glory Solution in hopes that the blooms would still be fresh whenever the winds calmed!

Queen EM and Princess EK were to arrive at 2 last Saturday afternoon. For clarification purposes, after EK was born, EM declared herself queen and baby sister would be known as princess. I photographed the table before their arrival. Of course, brother WL was included. He and Da had a boys snack time on the patio and they would NOT be attending the etiquette class. Instead, they would be playing with tractors and trucks in the dirt!

The girls love macarons, all six flavors…lemon, salted caramel, vanilla, raspberry, chocolate, and pistachio were enjoyed!

The manners/etiquette class was so much fun. We discussed the proper placement of the napkin on our lap, waiting for everyone to be seated including the hostess before beginning to eat, not talking with food in our mouth, speaking with our quiet voice, and never announcing a dislike for a particular food!

EM will be eight in May and EK turned five in March. Both girls listened attentively and asked questions as we discussed table manners. They have been taught manners, but our class was fun reminders as to the “whys” we need to practice manners when at the table. My favorite tea is Earl Grey and that was poured for the photos. The girls have tried hot tea, and they will drink it, but it isn’t their favorite. Hopefully they will enjoy it as they get older. I did serve them apple juice in the tea cups. Did I mention they love any cold drink served in a pretty teacup?

The Sunshine Cottage is in view. The interior is decorated for spring and the porch is awaiting some potted plants! Maybe I can share soon!

Time spent with our grandchildren brings us so much joy. Later that afternoon, we enjoyed golf cart rides and games! They keep us young and tired!

You have a special invitation to join Mary and Bonnie for beautiful teatimes!

Mary ~ Home Is Where the Boat Is

Bonnie ~ Living With Thanksgiving

I am so happy that you joined me for tea! Thank you for your visit and gracious comments. Wishing you a joy-filled week!

Pam, Your pink and white table is beautiful and ‘La Vie en Rose’ provides such a pretty in pink foundation for your tea table! I love your spring centerpiece of snowball viburnum, spirea and Kwanzan cherry blossoms. Our spring blooms took a hit from three days of gusting winds and rain. I know your grand girls must have enjoyed their tea time, treats and etiquette class, even if tea is not their favorite beverage. I agree that anything served in a pretty teacup is a treat! Love your pretty plate stack topped with your Bavarian pierced rose appetizer plate, as well as your pretty teacups and teapot. A friend gave me the same pretty pink Eileen’s Reserve teapot. As always, it’s a treat to join you at the table and for tea. I’m glad you’re enjoying some beautiful spring weather…it feels more like summer here this week. Happy Tuesday ☕ 🌸 💗

How gorgeous, Pam! And…..so so sweet! Tea parties with grands are cherished memories! Your beautiful woodland setting and flowers along with your selected teapot and china warm my heart! The girls are the perfect age to learn etiquette and how special you are teaching them young.
I can’t help that I am envious of your lovely snowball and cherry tree. I love flowers so much I would like one of every kind but, of course, that is not possible. Your arrangement is delicate and perfect with your pretty AC cloth, china pieces, and bridal wreath spirea.
I am appreciative of being invited to be a party of Tea on Tuesday as a guest today. You and Mary are wonderful mentors. Bonnie

This table is pure pink in my book. It is tea worthy for a queen and princess. The flowers are beautiful and I’m jealous of just looking at them. I love everything . The AP tablecloth would be a purchase if I was still doing tea and I adore the cake plate and the tea pot. Goodness, I could go on and on. Now I’m wondering how far you have to walk from your house to the picnic table? It looks like quite a distance . Social media

Thank you, dear Alice! We had the best time all afternoon even after the tea party was over. If you lived close by you would be included in our tea parties. The girls would love having you. It isn’t too many steps to the picnic table. I usually make three or four trips getting it set up. I need the exercise ❤️

What a delightful tea party Pam! I know the girls enjoyed every moment and felt so grown up! The pink and white table in your woodland setting is just beautiful! I’m so glad you were able to save some Snowball Viburnum, it has been exceptionally pretty this Spring. Crowning Glory is magic, it truly works! I am so impressed with your teaching the girls manners, and that they are so interested in learning. I’m glad WL was included in the afternoon, and I know he and Da, had much fun playing in the dirt 🙂

Pam your tea table is charming and having the girls had to be so much fun. How delightful you used the time to teach them table etiquette…as you said they are already taught manners by mom and dad but to have their gma explaining why is priceless. It reminds me of yesterday when my little grands were texting me during a baseball game we were all watching at the same time and little Reid texted that he “hated” something. He immediately, without coaxing, texted that he should not have said that and he didn’t hate it…he just didn’t like it very much. I was so proud of him. Thanks for sharing your lovely tea set and time with your very own “royalty”. Hugs

Pam, your tea table is so feminine and pretty. The cherry blossoms were the perfect touch to such a lovely setting. You get an A+ for holding etiquette lessons for EM and EK. Mickey and I used to have an annual etiquette dinner for our animal science girls. It was a bit shocking to realize how many young people don’t know basic rules of etiquette anymore. All the young ladies were very receptive, plus they got dinner out at one of Clemson’s nicest restaurants.
Looking forward to spring at Sunshine Cottage!

Good Afternoon Pam. What a lovely tea time in the woodlands with you, the Queen and Princess!
I love that AC tablecloth, which is perfect for your tea time.
Having an etiquette class for the girls is so sweet. When I taught early childhood classes, I had a week where we talked about manners and etiquette. On the last day to culminate the lessons we had a tea party. The children had to wear their finest clothes. And we practiced our manners and etiquette while they enjoyed the tea party. The children loved it!
Thank you for your pretty flowers, china and linens.

Pam, what a lovely tea party. I just love your property. I used to dream of a big Victorian home with porches I could use as a multitude of evens like private weddings in a gazebo and one day devoted to Miss Manners and tea parties. (all southern ladies dream of this. right ?). Maybe the girls can invite their friends for tea when they are older. Thank you for praying it forward.

The beauty of this spring will again give way to another autumn in a few months, but the significance of His empty tomb will never change! Wishing you a blessed Holy Week ✝️ Click the link in my bio to view the blog!

Happy Thursday! I love setting a table next to our Happy Thursday! I love setting a table next to our woodlands and this is the first one of the season, an Easter/Spring table! I love all the sweet bunny decorations, but Easter is so much more. We celebrate Easter because of the resurrection of Jesus Christ. His bodily resurrection enables all those who choose to follow Him to have assured victory over our greatest enemy…death!

I look forward each year when some of my favorite blooms display their amazing beauty in our garden. Snowball viburnum in its full glory with large creamy white blooms. Climbing Lady Banks Rose is covered in hundreds of miniature yellow blooms cascading to the ground. An old-fashioned Bridal Wreath Spirea with its branches arching to the ground in a fountain-like growth habit is loaded with showy double white flowers in clusters of three to six that resemble a bride’s wreath. I still claim the Kwanzan Cherry tree even though it is now on our son’s property. Its ruffled pink double pink blossoms are some of my favorite blooms. All four of these blooms make up an arrangement with a few tulips from the grocery store.

A fluffle of moss bunnies hopped up to the picnic table. A ‘Charming’ tablecloth with Mary Lake-Thompson napkins and Williams Sonoma enchanting ‘Famille Rose’ bunny plates!

I often shared my sweet Daddy and his stories on m I often shared my sweet Daddy and his stories on my blog. My precious Daddy passed away peacefully on March 26th at the age of 94, surrounded by his beloved family! He was born during the depths of the Great Depression. That may have been part of the reason he was always content and loved the simple things.

“A good name is to be chosen rather than great riches, and favor is better than silver or gold.” Proverbs 22:1

After high school graduation he signed to play professional baseball with the Cleveland Indians Organization. His baseball career was cut short when he was drafted in the army. He was seriously wounded in the Korean War and was awarded a Purple Heart and two bronze stars. Upon returning home, he married my beautiful Mother and they shared 54 wonderful years together before she passed away suddenly.

My brother and I grew up in a Christian home, bathed in love, calm, security, and contentment, under the care of the two finest parents anyone could have. Daddy was known as Pawpaw to his three grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

My heart is broken, he was the best Daddy a girl could have. I know he is present with the Lord and I rejoice in that promise, knowing too, that my Mother is also in the eternal presence of our Heavenly Father.

Welcome to Sunshine Cottage and the March edition Welcome to Sunshine Cottage and the March edition of Tea on Tuesdays. My inspiration for teatime is the beautiful linens from @april.cornell With the celebration of their 50th anniversary, many Heritage Prints from the archives have returned. Eden is one of the beautiful patterns that has returned. It is a soft purple paradise where butterflies float, roses bloom, and soft sage leaves levitate. As an April Cornell Brand Ambassador, I was gifted these gorgeous linens! I have been a collector of @april.cornell linens for many years…the floral patterns resonate with my love of English Country.

I am serving my favorite, Earl Gray tea, from an Eileen’s Reserve teapot. Teacups by Grace Teaware and vintage Rose Chintz salad plates by Johnson Brothers add more floral patterns to the mix. Japanese Magnolia blooms were cut from my garden and placed in a lilypad teapot!

Happy Monday! With March bringing the promise of s Happy Monday! With March bringing the promise of spring and looking forward to our garden awakening, I planted a blooming bulb garden in my Sunshine Cottage! The butcher block countertop under a window, was a perfect place for a mini garden. Muscari, hyacinths, tulips, and daffodils danced in the sunlight and filled the cottage with an amazing fragrance!

Happy Tuesday! Welcome to the Sunshine Cottage whe Happy Tuesday! Welcome to the Sunshine Cottage where it is warm and cozy on this cold February day. It is Tea on Tuesdays and I have set a tea table with the “Blue Roses” collection that was a collaboration between @victoriamagazine and @april.cornell The exclusive porcelain pattern and matching linens have been used many times and I still enjoy their blue and white beauty. Instead of fresh flowers, porcelain ones require no arranging. Sweet treats pair perfectly with a traditional English Breakfast tea. Happy first Monday of February! After so many cold Happy first Monday of February! After so many cold days, we are experiencing a tease of spring with a 73 degree day that is forecast. After the gray and cloudy days, I needed a dose of color and decided to set a colorful citrus themed brunch! Using a bird gold and pewter stand, I mixed a citrus medley of lemons, oranges, and limes with pink and white carnations as the centerpiece. The table is highlighted with blue and white dishware. Fresh squeezed orange juice, French-pressed coffee and sweet treats of lemon poppyseed muffins, lemon cake with lemon icing, and lemon pastries are perfect for a small brunch. A faux lemon topiary belonged to my beloved Mother and seemed a perfect addition to a citrus-themed table! You are invited to join me and my Monday Morning Blooms friends, Lidy @frenchgardenhouse Sarah @sjpa48 and Mary homeiswheretheboatsis.net by clicking the LINK in my bio!

Welcome to Sunshine Cottage where I have been fluf Welcome to Sunshine Cottage where I have been fluffing for Valentine’s Day! For many years my Sweetheart and I have celebrated February 14th at home where it is quiet, no reservations are required, and we always have a table by the window!

I love the traditional colors of red and pink! Frilly carnations fill a vintage Staffordshire, ‘Charlotte’ pitcher which rests on an antique Limoges plate with a velvet gold-crowned heart. The plate stack consists of a Royal Stafford ‘Asiatic pheasant’ dinner plate, American Atelier ‘Baroque’ luncheon/salad plate, Johnson Brothers, ‘Winchester’ salad plate, and a vintage pierced Bavarian rose plate! I am a huge fan of mixing colors, patterns, and textures for a collected look.

Happy Tuesday! On this very cold winter’s day, I Happy Tuesday! On this very cold winter’s day, I am serving my favorite tea, Earl Grey, in the Sunshine Cottage where it is warm and cozy! The magic of dancing sunlight enhances the table that is dressed with a warm tartan plaid throw repurposed as a tablecloth! ‘Winter Fauna’ bird salad plates from Pottery Barn (many years ago and now discontinued) remind me of the birds I watch from my kitchen window during the winter season. The Grace Teaware set adds more blue and white to the Spode ‘Blue Room’ dinner plates. Sweet treats were placed on a stack of Bordallo Pinheiro plates! A darling Hummel ‘Icy Adventure’ depicts a scene of an outdoor frozen pond with a pair of sweet ice skaters, a rosy cheeked boy and girl who have fallen down on the ice.
