Happy Tuesday, dear friends. We enjoyed a respite from summer heat this past weekend! It was a welcome change!
“While the earth remains, seedtime and harvest, cold and heat, summer and winter, day and night, shall not cease.”
Genesis 8:22 (ESV)
Y’all know I am a fan of autumn! In case you have forgotten, it is my favorite season! I hope you enjoy some of my favorite autumn scenes from our home in the Appalachian Foothills.
In my opinion, you can never have too many pumpkins!
My beloved Mother’s glider, where she and I enjoyed so many cups of coffee and shared hundreds of conversations, has been a sweet place to sit with my grands! Fall is the best season to enjoy sitting in the garden!
A blooming pumpkin is a favorite fall centerpiece!
The Sunshine Cottage will soon be dressed in autumn attire! I have begun its transformation from summer into fall.
I retired these little scarecrows in 2022. They were past their prime…I added a cute girl scarecrow that Ella Mae named Charlotte Daisy! The girls are excited for her return!
“I would rather sit on a pumpkin and have it all to myself, than be crowded on a velvet cushion.”
~ Henry David Thoreau
A vignette in the cottage garden with a velvet pumpkin, antique books, an artisan plate, April Cornell cloth, and a Majolica pitcher full of garden blooms!
Pumpkins galore on the Sunshine Cottage porch.
Our garden flowers and clippings were used for this pumpkin centerpiece!
A vignette in the Sunshine Cottage with a favorite squirrel jewel box resting on a stack of books!
The local farmer that always had a gorgeous crop of pumpkins did not plant this year! Yikes, I am trying to find another source!
This was Ella Mae’s favorite pumpkin last year!
“Pumpkin patches turn me into a kid in a candy store.”
~Unknown
The Schwinn 3-wheel bicycle was pulled into service for a basket of orange pumpkins!
Mums, pumpkins, and cotton are perfect as a display on our kitchen porch!
A bench beside the woodlands shared some sweet memories. My paternal grandmother’s crock/pitcher was used to hold wildflowers that RM gathered from the woodlands. A yellow shawl from a trip to Argentina in 2009 was draped across the bench!
An old churn was used for stacking a couple of pumpkins! I will stack them on anything and anyplace!
A view of the Sunshine Cottage porch a couple of autumns ago!
Last year was the second time to put up an Autumn tree in the Sunshine Cottage. The girls loved it and I am planning on the tree again this year!
Thank you for your visit and gracious comments. Wishing you a joy-filled week!

Good morning Pam, Thank you for the pumpkin patch views and autumn inspiration around The Sunshine Cottage! I hope you can find another source this fall. I love your pretty autumn tree and know it must provide wonderful ambiance with the twinkling lights. Tell Ella Mae that Knucklehead pumpkins are my favorite variety too. We’ve enjoyed a respite from the extreme summer temps and humidity too and I’m ready for all things pumpkin. Happy Tuesday! 🍂 🍁 🧡
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Thanks so much, Mary! I can’t wait for all things pumpkin and fall weather!

Pam @ Everyday Living says
Thanks so much, Shirley. Not much fall around here right now. I can’t wait to see and feel autumn!
Carole @ From My Carolina Home says
Your post is certainly getting me in the mood for fall. Pumpkins are such fun, and you make them work hard for you in the garden. Love them in the bicycle basket!
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Thank you, Carole! I can’t wait to load up on pumpkins!
Alice Genzlinger says
What? No pumpkin patch? Thats so sad. It’s one of only a few things I love about Fall. And the trees dressed in All their color is another. All of the pictures today are book worthy. I looked again to see my favorite and could not choose. Now I must ask what you do with all of the pumpkins after they have done their duty? I guess inviting a high school class to come out and have a pumpkin smashing party might be a little wild? But knowing Butch I think he takes them out to a field where the wild life can feast on them.
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Thanks Alice. Butch takes all the pumpkins to the edge of the pasture and they are consumed by the raccoons, opossums, and skunks. They can feast for weeks! Happy Wednesday!
Nancy Summers says
I am finding lots of inspiration in your photos this morning. May your Autumn season be filled with blessings!

Have a most wonderful day, my dear friend!
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Thank you for your sweet comments. I can’t wait to get into my fall decorating. Thank you, sweet friend!

Good Morning Pam. Such beautiful fall photos of your favorite season at your home! I feel that all these pictures need to be in a Coffee Table Book all about Fall Decor! You are so talented and more people need to see the beauty you create.
I love all the pumpkins! I am about to purchase a few for the LakeHouse!
Happy Tuesday dear Pam! I loved this post!

I haven’t seen a single pumpkin around here yet. Of course, it’s a bit early and we are more north than you but still . . . I won’t get decorated this year for fall — maybe November fall, but not the usual array. That’s ok. But I’ll miss it. So thank you for sharing yours.
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Thank you, Jeanie. I hope to start decorating real soon. It is still hot here.
Roxanne Bernard says
Good morning dear Pam! Every one of your photos got me more and more excited to pull out my Fall decor! We are expecting lots of rain this weekend from the hurricane (hooray for rain!), so that may be a good time. Your arrangements in the pumpkins are truly breathtaking. And I especially love your glider and how generations of women will sit there, sharing stories.
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Thank you, Roxanne. We are supposed to get rain. It was forecast for today, but now there is only a 5% chance. Happy Wednesday!
Joan M. says
Every picture of your Fall decor is beautiful. I am definitely motivated to get my decor out today and start styling it around my house. Thank you for the wonderful inspiration. 🍁🍂🍃

Pam! Pumpkins galore….you have so many beautiful and unusual pumpkins! Love all your little vignettes especially the one with the bench beside the woodlands which also shared your sweet memories. I love your paternal grandmother’s crock/pitcher holding the wildflowers that Butch picked from your woods, and the yellow shawl from Argentina draping across the bench make for a lovely place to stop and sit and have a quiet time!
Happy Autumn dear friend.
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Thank you, Kari. It is fun to look back from years past!
Rita C at Panoply says
Oh, Pam, this gives me all the feels (even though our temps are inching back up to 90 as of today, ugh. I necessarily watered ALL my shrubs, perennials and annuals). I LOVE the first blooming pumpkin and that majolica tabletop with AC cloth is so stunning, so beautiful in its subtle hues.
With your enthusiasm of the season, you truly make it so inviting with how you decorate and share it with your grands. Thank you for the shared beauty!
I’m over here pricing Christmas items for the antique booths, feeling just a tad overwhelmed. I just want to enjoy fall! It helps when the temperatures cool.
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Thank you, Rita. The seasons overlap in the retail world, I wish it didn’t. I want to enjoy each season to the fullest. Hopefully, rain will be coming! Happy Autumn!
Kris @ Junk Chic Cottage says
Hello Pam. Your fall is looking gorgeous. We had a little tease of fall this past weekend but now it is back up in the high 80’s. Miss Summer and Miss Fall are playing tug of war with the seasons here in the midwest. Have a great week. Hugs. Kris
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Thank you, Kris. I can’t wait to decorate this year! Happy Wednesday!

It was so fun to mosey around your yard and see all the pretty pumpkins and floral displays, Pam. I have a black glider almost like yours on my patio, that I’m actually sitting on right now. It’s my favorite spot, where I watch the birds and listen to my waterfall.
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Thanks so much, Kitty. I love fall and can’t wait to decorate!
Linda Stoll says
oh this is so inspiring this evening, Pam! I cut some bittersweet vines and made a wreath today and the stuffed the rest in an old watering can. i pulled the faux pumpkins out of their resting place in the basement and they’re happily sitting on the big table on the porch. once i accepted that summer was really on its way out, i fell in love with fall all over again.
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Thank you, Linda! I am happy that it inspired you to cut the bittersweet and pull out the pumpkins. Happy Decorating!
Tea With Jennifer says
What a lovely Autumn post Pam. My favourites are your Pumpkin floral arrangement & your grandmother’s pitcher on the garden bench. 😊
Blessings sweet friend, Jennifer

Thank you sweet friend! Happy spring to you!
Clara says
Pam, I really enjoyed the look back at previous fall pics at your home. The April Cornell tablecloth is so pretty with the majolica pitcher of flowers. Your squirrel figurine is adorable. I’m sorry you lost your source for real pumpkins. You’ve always had such a nice variety every year all over your property. Since we’re close to several HomeGoods and Hobby Lobby stores, I try to add to our faux collection every year. I tend to use them on the covered porch as they have a longer shelf life. But with grands, you can only use the real thing! You can’t carve the faux ones. I love your fall tree. It’s gorgeous! I may do that this year but it must get a bit cooler for me to motivated! I did put some fall things out that were cooler colors like your pretty yellow and green things. When it gets cooler, I’ll add the orange tones, etc. I love the pretty yellow vignette on the concrete bench. Thanks for the inspiration. Clara❤️
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Clara, I wish I had a Home Goods closer to me. It appears that you might get a lot of rain. Hopefully, no tornadoes or flooding. Thank you ❤️
Clara says
We’re getting rain today with gusty winds. Hopefully, no tornadoes but we could get downed trees and lost power. We are enjoying the slow rain currently brought on by the outer bands. Midday and forward, we get the full effect. I don’t think it will be too bad.🤞 We desperately need the rain. Wish we could send some your way as we know you need it. Have a wonderful day! Clara❤️
Heritage Hall says
The blooming, feathered pumpkin rates its center stage. The Sunshine cottage is so welcoming and
vibrant in its Autumn adornment. I agree with Ella Mae’s choice for the prize pumpkin. Oh that
Autumn tree just fills the cottage with radiance and smiles….. Just love the cotton wreaths on the
doors. All in all, a virtual pumpkin parade to greet Fall….. I can well imagine the cherished memories
that surround you on that glider. Rain expected for next four days, so I’ve decided to get a start on
decorating our home for the Season. Waiting to get out to the nursery to select the pumpkins and mum plants and hope to be lucky to find an Ella Mae Knucklehead. Bless you, Pam, for your creative gift and
inspiration.
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Thank you, Mary! I am excited that we are getting rain. Hopefully, it will help my allergies. Sunshine Cottage is half decorated for autumn. RM brought home 3 pumpkins and so far that is all that has been done. I enjoy looking back over the past years to see what I have done in the past. Happy Thursday, my friend!
Linda Primmer says
Pam, your autumn photos are lovely. Love seeing the pumpkins and pumpkin floral centerpieces. You have the prettiest garden. Your mother’s glider is such a wonderful keepsake with plenty of treasured memories. I love how you decorate Sunshine cottage. I am all for autumn.
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Thank you, Linda. I have started my fall decorating and hope to accomplish more this week!
Sarah Anderson says
Pam, I’m savoring each image as I scroll through this post. I love autumn as well, and I’m ready for the transition. Fortunately we have enjoyed some cooler mornings and evenings. I’ve been focused on cleaning up the garden, readying it for a fall refresh. I noticed the pumpkins are out, so I plan to check out the garden centers this weekend to see what might be available. I love seeing all your pumpkin displays, the floral arrangement, and the autumn tree really inspire me to get going on the transition here. Now that I’m back home from travels, it’s time to transform the vibe from summer to autumn. Since autumn is my favorite season, it’s easy to move into everything pumpkin and autumn leaves. I for one embrace the color orange!
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Thank you, Sarah. So many do not like the color orange, it speaks autumn to me. We have rain today and I am excited!
Judy says
I love Fall too. I would say that Ella Mae’s favorite pumpkin is my favorite too. I love the knots on it. Summer has been so hot this year that many of us are ready for Fall. The colors of Fall are just so gorgeous as seen in your arrangements and pumpkins.
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Thank you, Judy. It has been a very hot and dry summer here. I am definitely ready for fall!
Mariama@foodnutters says
Wow, your porch looks absolutely gorgeous with all those pumpkins in front. In fact, all the images are so beautiful, especially the flowers in the pumpkin. It looks amazing!
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Thanks so much for your sweet comments! Happy fall!
Kim says
Pam, this is all gorgeous – the vignettes, the pumpkin displays, the outdoor views, and the Sunshine Cottage. I love love all the pumpkins and it’s so great that Butch is able to feed them to wildlife so they don’t go to waste. We are definitely moving into fall here with overnight lows in the single digits many nights. But the days are still very pleasant. I can’t wait to see the autumn tree and I hope that you are able to find a new pumpkin source. Happy almost Autumn to you!!
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Thanks for your sweet comments, Kim. Oh, single digits already. You may have a very cold winter ahead!
Cheryl says
This really inspired me to get our fall decor out! I have been waiting for the official first day of autumn. I guess I may as well wait now, since it is in just a couple more days! Oh, no! I hope you are able to find another source for your pumpkins! I loved seeing all your past posts and can’t wait to see how you do everything this year! God bless you, sweet friend!
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Thank you, Cheryl. Autumn is almost here! Get that fall decor and ready to go!
