Happy Monday my friends! October is my favorite month and I am so happy that you are here to join me!
“It is the Lord who goes before you. He will be with you; he will not leave you or forsake you. Do not fear or be dismayed.””
Deuteronomy 31:8 (ESV)
I love the warm colors of autumn!
Welcome to the October edition of Monday Morning Blooms with my friends Mary and Lidy.
Our special guest is Sarah from Hyacinths For The Soul. As I often say, she has an amazing eye for detail. You will find the links for Mary, Lidy, and Sarah at the bottom of this post.
Our common theme for the October edition of Monday Morning Blooms is pumpkins. As most of you know, pumpkins are my staple for autumn decorating whether on tables, porches, or in the Sunshine Cottage! Our house also gets a small sprinkling of pumpkins. I suppose I have pumpkins here, there, and everywhere!
For the centerpiece on my garden table, I arranged a blooming pumpkin. The coloring of the pumpkin reminds me of candy corn, which is a favorite fall treat for my grandchildren and myself!
Autumn Fire sedum, cut from the cottage garden, served as a good filler around the base. Gorgeous peachy/yellow, white, and burgundy dahlias from Deep Roots Flower Farm were added to the center. The “head gardener”, aka my Renaissance Man, cut our Chaste tree back after it bloomed in June and it produced a beautiful second bloom in late September. The purple spikes add a little drama to the arrangement!
For the past years we have purchased pumpkins from a local pumpkin farm. Unfortunately, they were unable to plant this year. Finding heirloom pumpkins became quite a chore. I found some, but they are not the quality that we have had in the past.
In the background, you catch a glimpse of the Sunshine Cottage porch. It is decked out for the autumn season. I will be sharing the porch next week.
I have enjoyed the Williams Sonoma pumpkin plates for several years. The black makes a dramatic background for the Dutch still life inspired salad plates!
Pumpkin napkin rings hold reversible napkins with their muted fall colors!
Dahlias are one of my favorite flowers. I have tried to grow them, but haven’t had any success.
Tortoise flatware from Horchow has graced many tables through the years, especially during the fall season.
Beneath the salad plates are majolica dinner plates, faux leather chargers, and rustic burlap placemats.
“Let’s be honest: you can’t celebrate fall without its leading role: pumpkin!”
~Rachel Hollis
Vintage Fostoria ‘Jamestown’ stemware is one of my favorites for fall tabletops!
April Cornell’s ‘Meridian’ tablecloth sets a lovely autumn background for my table that celebrates the pumpkin!
“There is no season when such pleasant and sunny spots may be lighted on, and produce so pleasant an effect on the feelings, as now in October.”
~Nathaniel Hawthorne

Your blooming pumpkin and table to welcome October is beautiful Pam! Love the Autumn Fire sedum paired with your dahlias from the flower farm and pretty purple spikes of your Chaste tree. I bet the bees are loving the second bloom. I have those same WS plates and love using them for fall or Thanksgiving. The green majolica plates they’re paired with make the images really pop as does your April Cornel Meridian tablecloth. Love the warm brown accents provided by your tortoise flatware, leather placemats and Fostoria stemware. I also love the glimpse of your Sunshine Cottage porch with all your pumpkins in the background and am looking forward to seeing more next week! As always, it’s a treat to join you for some flower therapy on these Mondays and having a virtual seat at your table. Happy October and looking forward to your Halloween table tomorrow. ♥

Pam, the blooming pumpkins that you and Mary have created for today’s posts leaves me plotting my own sometime soon. I made mini ones last year, but have not created a large one as you did. It’s truly gorgeous!!! The Williams Sonoma pumpkin plates were a great addition for your plate inventory. I like the black background. It really does set off the Dutch inspired autumn designs. Your green majolica dinner plates, faux leather chargers, and rustic burlap placemats are the perfect pieces to use with these pumpkin plates. Of course the tortoise flatware and those pumpkin napkin rings are a perfect addition too. I’m eager to see your porch post next week. Thanks for including me a “guest bloomer” this month. I’m always eager to join in where flowers are involved.
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Thank you, Sarah! We love for you to be a guest bloomer!

Pam. your. table is laden with Autumn charm and the blooming pumpkin is perfect. The purple spikes of chaste bring a bit of whimsey as they twist this way and that. I also want to see more of the Sunshine Cottage but the glimpse in the background is enticing. Love all the elements of your table, the Horchow tortoise flatware, leather chargers and AC tablecloth show us that Fall is definitely in the air. Have a wonderful week and be safe, with yet another hurricane threatening. Hugs 🎃☢️🧡🍂🍁🐿️🥰

Good morning, Pam! Your blooming pumpkin is gorgeous with autumn fire sedum and dahlias. I adore dahlias, but I can’t seem to grow them. The April Cornell tablecloth is so pretty paired with the majolica plates and William Sonoma salad plates, I have always admired those beautiful plates when you use them. There is something so dramatic about the pumpkins against the black background. All of your photographs look like they belong in a magazine. Wishing you a most happy and blessed day, sweet friend!

I have many AC tablecloths but really need longer ones too. Try reading up on Dahlias on SWAN ISLAND DAHLIAS website. Request their catalog. They are amazingly beautiful with the Sweetest names as well.

This table is just beautiful! I love the addition of purple. It’s amazing how well that can go with Halloween colors. Your centerpiece is phenomenal. I have always wondered if I could fill a pumpkin with flowers, but I don’t know that I possess the same skills that you do to make a successful arrangement. Really lovely.

Pam, your blooming pumpkin of sedum, dahlias, and purple Chaste makes for a beautiful centerpiece on your lovely outdoor table! The plate stack is fabulous with its mix of textures, pattern, and color and the napkins are so pretty. I love how the dinner plate picks up the color of the tablecloth. I have those WS salad plates too and we use them almost every Thanksgiving. I love the photo with the Sunshine Cottage in the background and can’t wait to see how you’ve decorated it! Happy Thursday!
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Thank you, Kim for your sweet comments! Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family this weekend!

I’m thinking of the people who used to plant the pumpkins. It always makes me sad when I hear of someone no longer being able to do something they have done in the past. I guess I am feeling that more as I get older. I so enjoy your posts. They are so calming and encouraging to my spirit. May God bless you and your sweet family.

Your comments are heartwarming my friend. You are a great encourager! Blessing always!
